Today, after updating to Snow Leopard, I have been noticing that when I have been working on a word document (Office 2008), when I quick (command + q), it will go to close and then suddenly crash asking me if I want to send a crash report and relaunch. Has anyone else been having this happen to them? It has happened a few times today to me. it is always when I am quitting with a document open (but saved).

I have a 2008 13" Macbook. Within the past few days, I've had to "force quit" Microsoft Word several times. I've never had to do this before. All my software is up to date. I moved the Firefox app from my Applications to the trash. Does this uninstall it? My hope is that it would and I could just reinstall it. I have yet to download it again. I have also had to Force Quit Microsoft Word several times. This is my main concern. I am entirely reliant on my laptop for income, as I am a journalist. Do I NEED to get a new Macbook?Â

after doing my upgrade to snow leopard whenever i go to open microsoft word 08 for mac, it prompts me something about "xxx" was a font downloaded from the internet do you want to allow or not allow... but it doesn't do it once... it does it for every font soooooooooooo annoying. i ended up having to just force quit. is there a way i can fix this without having to sit and allow all of those? not clue how long it will take cause it kinda hangs a little in between each prompt. it didn't do this before i upgraded to snow leopard. i need to have access to word by this weekend cause i have a class that starts on saturday.

This issue only happen with this product and not with the rest of the Microsoft tools that I have installed in my MacBook (example: Powerpoint). I'm including a print screen (as you can see only the iOS menu is changed to Chinese and not the software menu). I extremely need to change it back to English!Â

Was having Adobe shockwave/flash problems while running Chrome, which is not completely unheard of. Restarted my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8), which included a software update (though I'm not sure exactly what programs were updated). Now Chrome will not run at all. Every time I start, it crashes immediately. Have tried SEVERAL times to trash/download it, but the same version seems to keep appearing in my Applications folder. Have also tried trashing the Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome folder to no avail. Appears back in its place after dragging it to the trash. Â
In addition, Adobe flash videos for Safari and Firefox (which I just downloaded as a tester) also will not work. Each attempt to update Adobe Flash also ends in a crash. And now I've discovered the same for everything Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). The program shuts down and the Microsoft error message appears breifly, followed by the same crash "Mircrosoft Word Error Reporting Quit Unexpectedly" box. Â Again, have tried several times to download Chrome & Adobe Flash to no avail. All system updates have been made to date. What to do next?

My problem, i created one text box in a document, somehow 2 more appeared. I made the mistake of thinking that to delete the extra text boxes, i simply highlight them and delete them. Silly stupid me, nothing that simple exists and i have wasted an hour trying to figure it out. The help button does squat, barely gives you any info on a text box much less trying to delete it. Does anyone know how to delete a text box in a word document?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI got my eagerly awaited copy of Snow Leopard last Friday and so far am totally and utterly disappointed. I dont know if its just me these things keep happening to but, the desktop picture doesn't appear for about 5 mins after its turned on (even though the pictures are stored locally) No big deal really but things like Photoshop keeps crashing when I try and save a PNG file I have created, Chronosync keeps crashing when choosing a folder to back up to. Basically lots of little glitches causing a screen to come up saying the program has been shut down and do I want to send an error report. Is this just me its happening to, everything I have read seems to be praising the new release but Im finding more problems and considering going backward. I know this is quite generalised but I dont know if its just my MacBook Pro or not.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy computer used to run fine on Leopard, then i installed snow leopard and it constantly has moments where it crashes all the time. It basically shows that wheel on any application (a usual suspect would be Firefox, which i've never had trouble with before) for maybe 30 seconds and then goes back to normal for another few minutes or it freezes on an application and it needs force quitting to get it working again. I can go whole sessions without this happening then other times i'll turn it on and it won't stop crashing like that. I'm on the 10.6.2 update version.

It seems that the Microsoft Intellipoint software does not work right. I don't really care about most of the bells and whistles, but I really need to remap my crt and alt keys to their mac equivalents, and add an eject key. Without those this keyboard is useless, and I need it, as I get bad carpal tunnel syndrome. Is there alternate software than microsofts that will work? View 21 Replies View RelatedI have a applescript that sometimes hangs (this is on a blind server). reason is that the application (JSMS, it sends text messages via my mobile phone account) can not connect to the server. it than pops a message saying so, but as a result the script does hang and interferes with other stuff.
is there a way to have the script stop (would 'try if' do this?) or alternative is to force quit this script after 10 minutes with an other script.

Not sure what my wife did but I have a copy bar that states Downloading untitled download to downloads. There is a bar indicating something is happening. There is an x next to it to stop it but it will not stop. I tried to shut down my computer but it will not let me as there is something running. Recently I have been unable to quit Safari, it starts running really slow and when I try to quit and restart nothing happens. The 'Quit' command under 'File' is greyed out and right clicking in the dock doesn't reveal 'Force Quit'; only 'Quit' shows but that doesn't work. The only solution is to re-boot the computer. This has happened a number of times recently.

Just in general home usage I'm finding a variety of general applications ( Safari, photoshop, Excel, etc. etc. ) seem to be a lot more crashy then they should be. This often seems to be linked with 'doing something' such as uploading pictures in safari, printing in excel, saving a photoshop file etc. Just general things like that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had intermittent crashes of Chrome, but now and experiencing more frequent application crashes with everything from Mail to TextEdit. textEdit is now very weird - when I open it opens with my last doc, but I cannot Save it or do almost anything without it crashing. I also had the computer freeze with a blank blue screen when I came back to it the other day. In addition, now my computer will not go to sleep from a user login, but when I log out I can select sleep from the user login panel and that works.

My Safari has been crashing regularly for the last few days. It generally happens soon after waking up the computer from sleep, but also happens randomly after 10-30 minutes use (approx - I'm not really sure). I have been looking at various discussions and think perhaps it might be a trojan, but I am unsure if this is the case and if so, what I can do about it.

I am on the latest update of Snow Leopard. It seems that if I leave the computer to go to the screensaver automatically, chances are that it may crash. I haven't changed my energy saver preferences for months - so if it is related to that it's not something I've changed.Looking in system.log you see lots of messages at crash time of "received notification of WindowServer event port death".Apple, are you investigating? This looks to me to be a serious problem. One of my colleagues is experiencing something similar. I did a search and I found soem sort of compatibility pack by Microsoft for Office 2004 that includes fonts like Calibri. My problem is I don't use Office, I use NeoOffice. I tried taking the Calibri font from my Windows 7 machine and dumping it into the fonts directory on the Macbook, but it doesn't look right Is there a special font pack I should download? Here is what it looks like - Calibri on the left, Arial on the right. I could use Arial, but in my next class I'm going to do alot of group work, and if I work on a file in Calibiri, and send it to everyone else in Arial they might get annoyed. Or if the formatting is changed due to changing a font I'll look like a dope ruining everything with his Mac.

Since Tiger and even more so with Leopard, I have found the 'Force Quit' command to be a pointless white elephant.
When the spinning beachball hits it tends to make the application unresponsive and then spread to all other apps. Attempting to bring up the force quit function is equally fruitless. Of course, by the time it eventually pops up, the offending application has either quit itself (I'm looking at you Adobe CS4) or has become responsive again (I'm looking at you Safari).
Has anyone noticed any improvement in Snow Leopards?
