I try to quit safari and that option is not available, I have tried to restart the computer but it won't let me because it says Safari is unable to close.I'm noticing browsing is starting to get slower .
How do I close an application that won't quit and doesn't show up in the force quit dialogue box? I was trying to open Printer Pro but it doesn't show up in the finder and when I tried to put it in the trash it says it can't throw it away because it's open. The forced quit dialogue box does not list it as open. What do I do?
That was supposed to be APPLICATION

Have Word 2004. Don't laugh; it's been working. When got new MBP, Office worked. (Well, can't recall if PPT ever worked with it.)Excel and Word definitely did work. Two weeks ago, Excel started working sporadically, then not at all.Right now(!!), Word suddenly stopped working. "Word quit unexpectedly" and "Excel quit unexpectedly."
I am trying to quit my safari but it won't do it.. The only response I get is the one of closing the window. I can't shut down my computer or restart it because of this.
I have a brand new Macbook pro and have to force quit my mail every time!.....beyond over it!.....should i return the laptop or is this going to be an issue on a replacement aswell
Two dialog boxes keep popping up that won’t go away. “Cancel” or “Okay” just gets them back in seconds. In activity monitor both are listed, Automator Runner. I can’t stop them.
My MacBook Pro, now 3 1/2 yrs. old, crashed. I was able to get it up and running but it no longer responds at all when I try to force quit (Safari often "spins out"/beachballs and I have to power off and restart.
I am migrating from old mac to new, seems it will take a lot of hours before completion. Can I stop it and quit? I plan to do it when going to work in the morning. Does this have any effect on both mac? 70 hours it just too long to wait.
I am running Lion 10.7.4 on a MBP15 late 2011 model. My mail wont quit and hangs until I force quit. I re-built my mail library as per these recommendations url... but it keeps hanging after a little while.I have accounts with Yahoo, GMail and an Exchange 2010 server.
Info: MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
My Mail app will not open, and now when I need to update my mac, it won't because it says the mail app "cancelled restart". Mail app will not open nor close. When I click on "Mail" at the top bar, the "quit" option is in light grey (not clickable). Mail is still accessable on my phone. Is there a way to delte the app all together (with out having to take it in) and re download.
I'm tired of Mac Mail continued to quit with me, on and off. It's annoying. It's been going on for two months now and Apple haven't fixed it. The last time I reported it here with the diagnostic report, I didn't get any new replies back to fix this ongoing concurring problem, except for the first one. After two weeks or so, it returned. I know my diagnostic reports will be the same, every time it crashes. I can't even trash the bundled folder, since it's not listed. I didn't have this kind of problem on my old Imac years ago, when I've had my MacBook Pro for almost two years now.
Say an app has crashed and I then bring up the force quit dialog. I then select the app I want to kill, and press the force quit button. Now as the little popup that says "Are you sure you want to force quit" is coming down, my machine freezes. This has happened 3 times exactly the same way. Other than that, the machine is smooth as clockwork. I'm kinda thinking there is some sort of GFX card bug or something?
Today when I jumped on my Macbook and was watching a youtube video I tried to turn down the sound using my sound button in the upper right hand corner.. but nothing happened. I could see the sound bar that pops up in the middle of the screen go up and down but the sound stayed where it was. This is new and has never happened before.
I'm getting rather panicky now. I was trying to connect to a network drive on my MacBook when I got a beachball. Nothing would work, not even force quit would come up. So I held down the power button until it went off, and then switched it back on again. It got as far a blank blue screen but no further. I tried it again and this time it didn't get past the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. So I took the battery out, unplugged from the mains and held the power button down for over 10 seconds. Then held down Command Alt P R to reset the PRAM. That didn't solve anything. This is the first reboot since some security updates on Saturday past. I'm running Leopard and it's an oldish Macbook, Core 2 Duo with 2 x 2 GB sticks of RAM.
I just got the screen that says you need to hold down the power key and restart your computer. Anyone know why? I'm running tiger. I had about 12% battery left and I am "borrowing" my neighbors internet because mine is down right now (I'm a broke college student). I had about 1-3 bars of internet but those go in and out and fluctuate often. I've noticed my computer seems to lag because of that, I've had a lot more applications crashing.
So I was on stick am yesterday and safari started to bog down, then I couldn't scroll or click on anything at all. So I proceeded to go to force quit menu and the cursor froze. I'm new to mac so i'm upset. Do macs freeze often? If its safaris fault doesn't that mean that the OS shouldn't crash anyway
