View 4 RepliesHow do you quit all open windows at once on a Mac
View 4 RepliesI know that there are most likely a lot of these threads around, but I feel like I've tried about everything. This all happened this morning when I was about to open my itunes. It wouldn't open, instead an error popped up saying that it quit unexpectedly.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 mo.old MacbookPro - OS X Lion 10.7.3 . Safari suddenly won't open or quit. I can't Shut Down; when I try I get an error message indicating Safari must quit first. I use computer for just the basics -- web surfing, email, i-tunes, and just a few Word documents saved. So I still have most of my memory yet available, and have very few applications installed. Is there a simple solution to fix this and prevent it in the future. So far I am not enjoying my switch from PC to Mac. I have had far too many of these random, complicated glitches which seem to require an advanced degree in computer software to solve.

My Mail app will not open, and now when I need to update my mac, it won't because it says the mail app "cancelled restart". Mail app will not open nor close. When I click on "Mail" at the top bar, the "quit" option is in light grey (not clickable). Mail is still accessable on my phone. Is there a way to delte the app all together (with out having to take it in) and re download.

I need to figure out how to shut down my computer as it says it is unable to do so as a result of the mail app.
Info:
MacBook Air, iOS 7.1.2
It only bounces once in the dock and says "App Quit Unexpectedly.."
I tried to reinstall it with a .pkg but it's the same result...I can restore the application with the restore disk if I have to...But all the other iLife apps work...
My itunes randomly, even after several restarts and re-installations, won't open and always says that itunes has "unexpectedly quit". I don't know what to do. This is what the error reads:
Process: iTunes [595]
Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Identifier: com.apple.iTunes
Version: ??? (???)
Build Info: iTunes-9022501~2
Code Type: X86 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [98]....................
I accidentally quit finder instead of Safari this morning and now Finder will not open. I still have it in the dock but nothing will work. I also do not have the toolbar at the top either. I can still open the other icons on the dock and use them so I can get on Safari, Ical, etc. I thought I did this once before but I can't remember what I did to rectify the situation.

The icon starts to open and then I get an error message. Some of the apps are Adobe Reader and various Garmin apps. The message is "<name of app> quit unexpectedly" and then it gives a long list of computer info. This happened suddenly and I don't know why. I have used the Disk Utility App but it has not worked.

This has happened multiple times now since installing Yosemite. The problem displayed above is that after force quitting I can't open an application all. Even though it's not running anymore, as proven by the black dot that would be under the icon if it was. I've had this happen with 2 different applications: Steam and Google Chrome.
My system Specs are:
OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1
-2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
-Memory 4gb 1600 MHz DDR3
-Mac Mini (Late 2012)Â

Whenever I try to open iTunes I get this message saying that iTunes quit unexpectedly while using the libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib plug-in. It did this a few days ago so I tried re-installing iTunes and it worked after rebooting but it didn't work this time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMail is running in the background, but it won't quit or open. I need to reboot (i.e. hold down start for 10 seconds) to restart. Other applications are also very slow to respond during this, incl. Safari. I'm on a Late 2007 Macbook running 10.6.2, which I updated yesterday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I went to start up iDVD today, and it won't even launch. Nothing. I click it, it just says "iDVD quit unexpectedly" every single time.
View 10 Replies View Related'm showing iBooks, Pages, & Preview are still open via the Force Quit dialog but I haven't used them since the previous evening.I have an older Macbook (Aluminum, Late 2008) so I try to run as lean as possible. There are no extra windows open that I can find. Double clicking them from Force Quit brings them up to then quit from the application proper, apps to quit when I tell them to.Has this to do with iCloud integration? (Like Pages wasn't quite done with an iCloud upload before I quit).Should I try a reinstall of the apps or Mavericks?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSafari has frozen after I tried to quit it, I can't open or close any programs, force quit, use shortcuts or use any open programs as the safari bar still appears at the top of the screen, I would force shut down but I've got an after effects project open.

I am trying to do a regular update to my MacBook, it tells me I need to quit Mail before I can do it. So I close it and quit it but the little dot that says its still there won't go. I keep telling it to quit which it won't and the computer won't shut down because mail won't let it.
Also I can even open Mail now and it won't go in to its normal sleep mode. What do I do?
I have this problem on my new MBA (2012) and mac mini (2011), both running the latest update of LION (10.7.4). Basically, if I am using preview, it shows up on my dock no problem and I can close windows/hide/quite no problem. Usually a while later, a copy of Preview ends up showing up in my FORCE QUIT menu (if I happen to be there), but is not visibly open. (see pic).
Odd that it occurs on both. Only things that are non-apple installed on MBA (and mirror with MM) are:
- MS Office 2k11
- Firefox
- ClamXav virus scanner
- Diablo 3

Every attempt to open Aperture results in a spinning beach ball. When attempting to force quit, every program freezes. I am running a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.3, 8 GB Ram. Have deleted and reinstalled the program from the App store with the same results. Purchased Aperture a few months ago and began without difficulties. However, recently, the program simply stopped working.

I cannot open iTunes. Message "iTunes quit unexpectedly". It only opens for about 5 seconds where there is a message about restoring windows, which makes no sense. I have shut down, restarted, checked for software updates. I am running OS 10.7 (lion).

My iTunes icon has gone AWOL from Get Info and the Force Quit, but it shows up find in the dock and the application switcher.Â
In Get Info, I also can't click where the icon should be (e.g., in order to paste an icon back in there). [Tried to insert screenshots here, but the upload won't work — the Insert Image button stays gray]Â
Dump finder cache and/or prefs? I've already verified and repaired permissions recently (2 days ago), I've also recently deleted several caches using Onyx, in the process of troubleshooting some pinwheel and freeze problems.

How do I close an application that won't quit and doesn't show up in the force quit dialogue box? I was trying to open Printer Pro but it doesn't show up in the finder and when I tried to put it in the trash it says it can't throw it away because it's open. The forced quit dialogue box does not list it as open. What do I do?
