Mac Mini :: Why Are ITunes And IPhoto Crashing Every Time Try To Open Them
Apr 15, 2012
Why are my iphoto and itunes crashing every time I open them? This is a new problem on my Mac Mini. Have the latest software on my Mac Mini and the latest iLife sotware. My mac mini is about 5 years old, always kept up to date.Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 DuoMemory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAMGraphics Intel GMA 950 64 MBSoftware Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
Info:
Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.5.5), still have the PowerBook G4
I downloaded and installed updates I cannot open iphoto. The message I get is iphoto cannot be opened because of a problem. Is this a compatibility problem? Any ideas to remedy the sitn. Mac mini 2.4 intel Core 2 duo OS X 10.6.8 iphoto 9.2.2
My mac mini keeps crashing. I recently updated the software, following apple prompts. Every time I open a movie in itunes, it goes for 5 mins then stops. The mac fan gets really loud and the whole computer crashes. I have to restart, then the same problem occurs!
Time Machine on my iMac won't open iPhoto. It goes to desktop screen automatically. When I select User/Picture/Iphoto library it only brings up the preview page with the size of the folder. I can't get into the library to look for lost photos.
As I was passing around a shop where they sold MBP's of all sizes, I tried them out. Amazingly, every single one of them seemed to freeze when I opened iPhoto, for not a short time. Am I not understanding something about it or is it just freezing?
I am trying to restore iPhoto from my backup and it will not allow me to open it from Time Machine. I'm following the protocol from Apple but still get the same "cannot open from Time Machine" message.
After I had a full backup to iomega external hard drive I wanted to see photos in iPhoto library by using Time Machine. I can see the iPhoto Library icon on Time Machine, but when I click on an icon it does not open the folder and I can't see the pictures stored on iomega external hard drive. All other backed up documents I can see and restore if I need it.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iomega external hard drive 1TB
After opening Mac HD folder, made the mistake of attempting to change name next to house icon (Home? perhaps) along left spine (spine that includes 'Desktop' 'Documents' 'Applications' etc.). The computer started to run as if adjusting to the name change. From that point on, iphoto/tunes/aperture starting opening as if it was the first time asking for set-up preferences.
No photos/music can be found in the folders. I can still see my folders on the external hard drive that the tunes/photo are on, but they will not open when I open the programs. Any suggestions on fixing the links? I tried in vain to change the name back. The error message says that the previous name is already taken.
When I have iTunes in focus and enter Time Machine, it opens a Finder window behind iTunes, brings it into focus, then goes into Time Machine for Finder. Same with iPhoto. The only thing that seems to work properly is Mail (I can have it in focus, enter Time Machine, and use the Mail interface to restore e-mail).
I've had my MacBook for 2 years now, and it still runs good. But I would like to do a clean install, but I don't want to loose my itunes library and iphoto library. Things like play counts and ratings and playlists etc. I've got everything backed up to my time machine but if I do a clean install can I just restore those two programs or is it all or nothing.
My imac has had its hardrive replaced - (unfortunate) - and I am wanting to restore the files fom itunes and Iphoto only. I have tried for many hours following other posts, support, but have so far not had any luck. What is an "Idiots" way to achive this, hort of taking my mac back to apple and get them to do it for me!
I cannot open my iphoto because i am constantly receiving the message "the application quit unexpectedly" I have tried everything!!!!first & foremost I have archived & installed osx already 2 times.I have tried holding down the options key and building a new library..doesnt work.I have typed in fsck -fy and rebooted and rebuilt disk permissions.i cant seem to find the file .com.apple.iphoto etc its not in my preference folders to erase it
Each time I launch Safari, iTunes launches. A clue: iTunes immediately goes to the store and brings up an app called SendStuffNow. This is a real pain. At one point I had downloaded the (free) app, but decided I didn't want it and deleted it.
Info: Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 5 GB ram/MOTU 424/Logic Control
Just loaded OS X 10.5.1 on my G4 Powerbook which has all other 'original' software. Still learning to navigate (and find all files etc., which don't reappear in original format...) but MAJoR problem is cannot open iphoto which worked perfectly beforehand. Just crashes instantly. Computer suggest i relaunch, then crashes again, instantly, and then suggests reload and relaunch and, then crashed again. Would ideally hope my photo library is still intact
I just updated my iTunes but it appears it deleted my library. This sucks because I have spent hours upon hours sorting it, renaming crooked song titles, finding covers and all that stuff. I used time machine to back up my computer like 5 days ago, but I can't figure out how to use it. I wish I could just select that given day (when I made my last backup) and make it turn everything back to what it was back then. How do I do this exactly? I don't care at all if I have to go back to the old iTunes (obviously they will fix this eventually!) - I just want it to look like it did a few days ago.
I have an imac, I moved my iphoto library on to an external hard drive (lacie usb 2.0). I moved my iphoto library that was on the internal drive to my trash folder. (Dont want to delete until I know everything works properly). When I'm using iphoto I keep getting this message "Please make sure the disk containing your photo library is mounted and restart iPhoto".
My wife's computer (PowerBook G4) won't load iPhoto. It gets to the "loading photos" screen, then promptly crashes. I have run permission repair but everything was perfect
Anyone know if this is known problem? I have loads of my video imported directly into iPhoto (I have compact camera which takes photos and video). When in iMovie I click on 'iphoto Videos' in the 'event library pane' and after a lot of thinking iMovie crashes!
I have several folders that have albums in them. When I click on a specific folder/album, "mushrooms", I receive the spinning rainbow wheel and then Iphoto crashes. This only occurs with this folder/album. All the other folders/albums work fine.
i have been using iphoto to export picture to facebook for about a year now. i recently went on vacation and uploaded about 4,000 pictures. now, iphoto keeps crashing every time i try to use the facebook exporter. i switched to my sister's account on this mac and her iphoto exports pictures to facebook perfectly. i don't know why mine doesn't.
I cant import any photos or videos without iphoto crashing. I have an Ipad2 and iphone4 with a brand new imac running Lion. Since I bought my imac it has always had problems with iphoto. I have removed iphoto and reinstalled a fresh copy of it via the CD that came with my imac. Also, I have no plugins installed so no divx or anything like that.

(trashed)Deleted FF profile (trashed)Attempted stoping any process in the activity monitor(nothing there)Force quit FF (nothing there) Searched every place I can think of for any file named Firefox or Mozilla with no results.cannot find anything in a "profile" that looks FF related Tried re-downloading FF and re-installing(same error prompt) Tried restarting the comp I made the switch to Apple this year because owners and users of Mac seem to very proud of their product, so does Mac according to the price.

iPhoto 8.1.2 is crashing on my friend's MBP. We tried repairing permissions, but it didn't work. The application opens, freezes everything and then crashes,
