Mac Mini :: A Copy Of Firefox Is Already Open, Only One Copy Of Firefox Can Be Open At A Time?
Mar 16, 2012
A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time. Understand I am a novice user compaired to most so, here is what I've done so far. Deleted FF in Apps. (trashed)Deleted FF profile (trashed)Attempted stoping any process in the activity monitor(nothing there)Force quit FF (nothing there) Searched every place I can think of for any file named Firefox or Mozilla with no results.cannot find anything in a "profile" that looks FF related Tried re-downloading FF and re-installing(same error prompt) Tried restarting the comp I made the switch to Apple this year because owners and users of Mac seem to very proud of their product, so does Mac according to the price.

When I select the file to open I get a dotted square outline in by browser and it says "blank". This happens when I try to look at the school lunch menu, and anytime I try to look up statements online. They still open with Safari.

I bought an ibook G4 and I have safari for it because when I downloaded firefox it wouldn't open? And also I cant open or delete my emails on msn or click in to certain things.
I am fairly new to the OS, just switched from a PC. I would like to know if I can set up a workflow so that with a speech command to my Macbook I can open a specific URL in firefox. How would I set that up?
Do you all experience this much? I'll get pop-ups that make themselves new tabs, or separate windows themselves. I have the option checked to block them in preferences. Is there any add-on you all use that may help? I know some things are going to get through no matter what. So I just thought I'd see what others experiences' were.
My Firefox no longer opens up on top when I run it, rather opening underneath other applications. I've searched within preferences but I can't seem to figure it out. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.
I am at present studying Dreamweaver at home on my Mac Pro OS10.6.8.Â
Part of the process of making a webpage, one has to open it through the internet. Firefox is my choice but unfortunately when pressing F12, Firefox opens but does not open my Dreamweaver based work.Â
I have searched online and it appears quite a few years back alot of people were experiencing the same with their (now older) versions of Firefox.Â
How do you tell Mail.app to open links in a new tab in firefox? I have firefox set to open links in new tabs, but whenever I click a link in mail, it opens a new window.
how do I open pdf links with firefox 11? I will be happy if it works woth either preview or reader, as long as it works. It worked on macbook pro running 10.7.2 from the same links but the functions disappears for no apparaent reason. Once or twice a year for decades-leaving the simple user to guess whether the addon, reader, browser needs to be updated or reloaded - trial and error Already reinstalled acrobat reader X and checked for addons and addons updateÂ

On every restart, Firefox opens by itself and installs itself in the dock no matter what I do. I've made sure the settings in Lion are correct for re-opening apps. Also, I tried to delete a line from a Stickie and it reappears on startup. It's just in my user profile. I created another test user and it didn't happen.
About a week ago, my macbook quit opening internet pdf files. I checked for new software updates but it hasen't worked. No error message shows up, just a blank screen.Â
I heard about a software a few weeks ago where you could set it up so that a certain link always opens in a certain browser. I didn't need it at the time, but now I could really use it, and I can't remember what it was called!
Firefox won't open .torrent files automatically; instead you need to (OK) confirm-click and following that the torrent is loaded (in my case) in uTorrent.
Also, I receive a "Server cannot be found message" when attempting to access Facebook and Youtube. Almost all other pages seem fine but I just receive error messages when attempting to view these few. I am using a new wireless network and wondered whether this could be the problem.

I have a website that I need to open with Safari as it won't display properly in Firefox 3.6.3. From the Address Bar in Safari, I dragged a link to my desktop, right-clicked and checked it to always open with Safari. The name of the link is something like "PITA.webloc"
When it opens that first time, it dose open in Safari, but subsequently, always opens in FF. I also right-clicked to "Get Info" and indicated it to always open with Safari. While "Get Info" shows that correctly, it still always opens in FF.
Firefox is just chewing up memory on my new i7...only with 4 tabs open (forums and gmail). Then there is the launchd tearing up about 375 constantly. Window server is hovering around 175-200 as well.
I prefer Firefox. But when I click on a link in an email, it opens in Safari. I searched for 'browser' and 'default' in my computer's help (no hits), and I searched the forum for 'apple mail' and 'firefox' with no good hits. Maybe related, but I see no way to make Firefox my default browser. I do have it set to open on startup, and safari does not open. But if I click on a link in an email, it will still open safari instead of using Firefox.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Now when i open the new firefox i get an error message:"Close Firefox. A copy of firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."Ive uninstalled again, empied the trash, searched the computer for traces (at least thats what i think i did) and nothing works help!
I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever. Â
Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

This is my biggest software design pet peeves. I hate when applications make too many choices for the user. Don't get me wrong, I don't like when a program asks the same question over and over again either. So I'm using firefox and I had about four or five windows open. And it froze up for over five minutes so I force killed it. When I opened it again it automatically tried to open all those websites I had open before - all at the same time. This isn't even a bug, it's the designers bad choice. I don't even need them open. I was only still using one. And I don't know which one caused the freeze (probably a flash heavy website like abercrombie) but I certainly don't want to open that one again. I'm trying to get Firefox to not do this anymore.
