I get through the disc verification fine but then during actual install always seems to stall around 1hr 56 mins to go.. now when this seems to happen is when my the hdmi signal to my samsung lcd switches off, the installation stalls well when i click the mouse for the connection to become live again, the process has always crashed...
I bought a second hand iMac, formatted the HD and installed Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Fixed disk permission, did all the software upgrades, fixed once more permission and verified startup disk... and everything seemed to work fine.
After using it for an hour I've started noticing strange crashes:Â
-When I use Software Update and I click Show Details, the app crashes every time... but if i click the Install button it works fine.
-The computer is connected to the internet but Safari is not showing anything. It stays white. I've installed Firefox and it works fine. Safari not loading anything.
-App Store is crashing upon launch, every timeÂ
Checked the hardware using the Apple disk and it's all in order. Re-fixed Disk Permissions. Re-verified startup disk.Â
I just updated my (2006 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz 15") MacBookPro to Leopard 10.5.6 I installed Windows XP SP3 through bootcamp, and everything was fine, but after i was done installing the BootCamp drivers from the Leopard disk and I restarted the computer, and booted back into windows, it would load to windows show my desktop for about 5 seconds then reboot itself (no error messages). So I mounted the windows partition again, same thing, over and over, I must have done it 20 times.I even tried doing the bootcamp 2.1 update and it didn't work. So i restored windows to the previous working settings and the bootcamp drivers were gone. So Windows works now but i am not abled to use the wifi or any multi touch or anything. I have also deleted the Windows partition and reinstalled it from the beginning and the same thing happened after installing the bootcamp drivers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently, in the middle of working with applications in iPhoto09 they simply crash. I get a message stating no harm was done but it's getting annoying as it's happening more often than not. I am new to mac, have had it now for maybe two weeks, but wouldnt expect apps to crash this often. Any thoughts?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently re-installed my Lion by using the Lion Online Recovery thing. Works fine so far, but I got one problem..That my iLife suite is missing makes sense, since iLife does not come with Lion itself. My iLife was preinstalled on my MBP and I had to accept the Apps in the AppStore back then.
Now, after the reinstallation iPhoto does not show up in my purchases, just GarageBand and iMovie. If I'm trying to search for iPhoto in the AppStore, it says, that my App is already accepted and must show up in my purchases, but it does not. How can I resolve this issue? Without iPhoto I can't use my photostream.

Just loaded OS X 10.5.1 on my G4 Powerbook which has all other 'original' software. Still learning to navigate (and find all files etc., which don't reappear in original format...) but MAJoR problem is cannot open iphoto which worked perfectly beforehand. Just crashes instantly. Computer suggest i relaunch, then crashes again, instantly, and then suggests reload and relaunch and, then crashed again. Would ideally hope my photo library is still intact

I cant import any photos or videos without iphoto crashing. I have an Ipad2 and iphone4 with a brand new imac running Lion. Since I bought my imac it has always had problems with iphoto. I have removed iphoto and reinstalled a fresh copy of it via the CD that came with my imac. Also, I have no plugins installed so no divx or anything like that.

I have about 20 hours of low res digicam videos sitting in iphoto. When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated. How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just imported some photos into IPhoto 09 and shortly afterwards my IMac did a hard shut down. Now when I open IPhoto I get the following error:

Thought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
I am transferring info from an iBook G4 running Tiger to a MacBook running Snow Leopard. Everything is going well, except for my ability to transfer the iPhoto library. I have mounted the iBook to the MacBook via Firewire. When I transferred my iPhoto library from my MB to my new MBP, it was easy: all I had to do was drag over "iPhoto Library" from User>Pictures>iPhoto Library But it isn't set up the same way on the iBook: in User>Pictures, "iPhoto Library" is a folder instead of a small iPhoto icon (which you would need to right-click on to see its contents). When I copied the contents of the folder into "iPhoto Library" on the new MacBook, it didn't maintain all of the organization (eg. the albums). Is there any way to do this so that iPhoto will keep the organization of the photo library on the new MacBook, or am I destined to reorganize my thousands of photos into albums again? Please keep in mind that the MacBook is being set up as a new computer, and I am copying over the files/docs/music/photos that she wants to keep from the iBook. I am not using Migration Assistant.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled OSX 10.5.8 on my penryn MBP so I could make a larger XP bootcamp partition. After reinstalling leopard and restoring my whole system through time machine my computer is acting weird. First, "the file "itunes library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes". It didn't upgrade itunes to 9 till after I had done all the TM restoring. should be older, no? Second, adobe applications crashed. I was in AI working on a 500 mb file and BOOM, beach ball>crash. All other CS3 unable to open. I have 4 gigs of ram and some of the applications that would not open were not even in use at the time of the AI crash, could this be something with the TM backup? CS3 was all installed together.
Third. While this epic crash is happening on my desktop disappears. Just a blank desktop image. but wait, If I click were things used to be, Bam they appear out of no where, but only if I click where it is supposed to be. It's there in the desktop folder but not showing up as icons on my desktop. I think this has happened to me before the reinstall too, though never all at once, usually when I use the "pinchy" to resize icons one or two will disappear. Fourth. Cisco clean access agent beach balls and requires hard reset. the login window was floating on screen all the way till the screen turned off. These all happened in the same day, now It is working some what like normal, though my itunes is broke. Any ideas on how to fix this itunes? If I only need one application and it's plug-ins (SU and Podium beta) restored through TM ( i have a disk for all the others) is there a way to just restore the one. Would this give me a more stable system over all? should I go ahead and reinstall and restore the one app and do the rest manually?
I have recently switched from Windows to Mac and now own a G5 Power Mac and a MacBook Pro.I have CS4 installed on my G5 and I also want to put it on my MacBook. I have 2 software keys for it, but the problem is I don't know which I used already on my G5, is there a way to view the key on my G5 so I make sure I don't get the wrong oneI remember on Windows you could see your key on the splash screen or if you clicked About

View 3 Replies View RelatedLast week I spent 150.00 to have my MacBook Pro Repaired. I am not very good with this stuff and needed help so....
I have a MacBook Pro Version 10.4.11. with iTunes 9.2.1 (5).
Safari, Firefox, Adobe kept crashing. Then Mail crashed and finally iTunes. The computer said that iTunes was now stored somewhere on my computer in a file that was "damaged".
I took it to the nearest computer repair shop (No Mac store within 100 miles of here) but this store does fix MACS. They checked and repaired file systems, reset components, performed Apple/3rd Party software updates, clean temporary files - Repaired file systems. Archived and reinstalled OS. Reimported iTunes and added 1GB RAM.
Got the computer home and my iPhone wouldn't synch. SO I had to uninstall iTunes and reinstall, then figure out how to get my library back...which I somehow did but don't think I could do again. It's been two days and it is starting all over again.
Today, Firefox and Safari began crashing again and yet once again, iTunes crashed and I have lost my entire library. It is back to the "damaged" place in a mystery file on my computer. 2 times today, I got a role down black screen that said I would have to restart my computer.
So, I have run the Disc Utility - repaired disc permissions (there were none to repair) and don't know what else to do except lose my mind. I have NEVER been so disgusted with this computer. I can't understand why NO ONE has been able to figure this out. Apple wants a gazillion buck to answer by question over the phone I didn't really have the 150.00 to have it "fixed in the first place so Apple's fee might as well be a gazillion $$$. I have looked solutions online and either I can't find one or don't understand what I am reading.
I was tooling around in CandyBar earlier today and after trying to restore my dock icons to defaults, my dock never returned after the Dock restart "killall Dock". After I restart the computer entirely to resolve the problem, I tried clicked on the Applications folder/section of my Finder only to get the spinning beach ball and the 'not responding' error from there out.
this happens after every restart. I've tried repairing the permissions and everything else to no avail. I don't have my Leopard install discs here with me (out of town for a couple days) so if there is a fix without 'archive and install' that's preferred.
i managed to get the dock back by deleting the .plist for it and tried the same for finder, didn't work.
So immediately after itunes 8.1 update and restart my MacPro has been lagging big time. Firefox freezes, Mail freezes...everything is lagging...what gives? i've fixed permissions and verified the disk, there are no errors. anyone else experiencing issues with the update?
