View 3 RepliesI have an old Laserjet IIIp I'm trying to use with a new Mac mini. Before realizing that tiger had gimp-print bundled with it I installed it separately, so maybe that's the problem. Anyway, I use the printer setup utility, and click add, and it shows me a USB printer (without a name, that's odd.) I choose HP and then "Laserjet III Series," and whether I choose the 4.x driver or the 5.x driver, clicking add does nothing. No dialog, no spinning of the disk or the printer, just nothing.I know the driver supports this printer, and I know the cable in question (a Belkin USB->Parallel cable) works with gimp-print and even with this printer. Rebooting the Mac doesn't help, even if the printer is on and connected during the reboot.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few months ago I purchased the product mentioned in the subject line to attempt to get my HP LaserJet 4M printer to work with my i-Mac. Immediately after I hooked it up and turned the computer back on, the computer recognized the printer and I was printing to my 17 year old Laser Printer and could not be happier. Now however, I have a problem. I recently downloaded Mac OSX updates and since then while I can still print to the printer, I have to disconnect the USB from the back of the computer, put it back in and when the printer window appears I have to click on "Resume" printer and then it prints. It should also be noted that even though I can send things to the printer, I can not see any supply levels or other information, he only designation I get is the name of the device (bought at Radio Shack) and no model name or number.
Any suggestion as to why this is happening or ideas on how I can get back to just hitting print? Looking forward to hearing from you.
I need to run a parallel on my mac mini in order to run a windows based program. The message I keep getting in: "enable hardware virtualization support in your Mac's firmware". Does any know how to do this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just read a ton of forum posts and want to make sure I am going to buy the right accessories to make my new Mac Mini all it needs to be to run my home theater.1. For 5.1 audio, do I need to buy this product and then just use a standard Optical audio cable to plug into my receiver?2. The new Mac Mini comes with a mini DVI to DVI connector correct? So all I will have to buy is a DVI to HDMI cable?3. Is OWC (other world computing) the best place to buy upgrades for the mac mini? I have looked at the videos on youtube and it seems like something I should be able to do no problem.

A Google search reveals a few parts suppliers in Europeland, but they are all charging silly prices for the cable, and US suppliers impose ridiculously high postage charges.
I have an HP 4050TN LaserJet printer that I had networked via ethernet to my iMac (when it was running just leopard) Once I did all the updates for 10.6.8, I found that my printer is nowhere to be seen, I can't add it. I have Tivo now that allows me to remotely schedule recordings and it is a dual tuner allowing me to record to channels at the same time.
1. Can computer tv tuners record 2 channels at the same time?
2. Can I remotely "log in" to the Mini/tuner and schedule recordings?
3. Can I remotely log in and watch my recordings from another location?
4. Can I remotely access my tuner from another location and watch TV (like a Slingbox)?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have hooked up a 2009 Mac Mini (2.16, 4 gb RAM, SL 10.6.3) to my sony receiver.When using an analogue cable, it works, but in stereo of course. I plugged in a tosslink optical cable, and nothing happened, so I thought maybe the cable is broken, so I bought a new one. So when I plugged it in, it worked....for about 2 hours. Since then, I had no luck whatsoever, no sound, nothing, nada.I tried using the cable with my macbook, worked like a charm. Several reboots and a pram reset later, same thing, no sound. I checked the settings, but there's nothing really to change there, it's set to digital out and that's it.I even tried a ridiculously long terminal command to reset core audio, to no avail.

heres the sitch!
Computer = Mac Mini 1.42 model
TV = Samsung TXR3079WH HDTV
DVI to HDMI cable connected to a Samsung HDTV TXR3079WH
the tv doesnt come with dvi connectors so i opted out and purchased the dvi-hdmi cable. i hook it up to the samsung tv and then boot it up and nothing appears on the screen. it just freezes the television to the point that i cant even change to a different source input.
I tested it with different resolutions (i had an LCD next to me to interchange with) and neither resolutions worked. I then thought it might be the DVI-HDMI cable so i hooked it up to my Comcast HD Box and it worked perfectly fine. I then took the Mac Mini to a neighbors house and hooked it up to his 47" Panasonic HDTV and the Mac Mini fired right up and worked beautifully on the Panasonic HDTV using the same cable. Went into System Preferences and under diplays it actually said "Panasonic HDTV" so it recognized the tv. and the resolution automatically reset itself to 1900x1200. Then afer seeing that the Mac Mini was capable of this and all the settings must have been right, i walked back over to my house and the initial problem started again. No Picture on the Samsung HDTV. After all this i found out that the DVI port on the Mac Mini works, The DVI-HDMI cable and the HDMI port on the back of my Samsung TV works as well. So i think it might just be a samsung driver issue? dont know how to resolve this issue.
