Hardware :: GigaWare USB To Centronics Parallel Printer Cable?

Sep 16, 2009

A few months ago I purchased the product mentioned in the subject line to attempt to get my HP LaserJet 4M printer to work with my i-Mac. Immediately after I hooked it up and turned the computer back on, the computer recognized the printer and I was printing to my 17 year old Laser Printer and could not be happier. Now however, I have a problem. I recently downloaded Mac OSX updates and since then while I can still print to the printer, I have to disconnect the USB from the back of the computer, put it back in and when the printer window appears I have to click on "Resume" printer and then it prints. It should also be noted that even though I can send things to the printer, I can not see any supply levels or other information, he only designation I get is the name of the device (bought at Radio Shack) and no model name or number.

Any suggestion as to why this is happening or ideas on how I can get back to just hitting print? Looking forward to hearing from you.

OS X :: Printer Not Recognized By System / TC Cannot Facilitate Printing Via Cable?

Apr 5, 2010

So I've set up (or tried to anyways) a network between my MacBook Pro & iMac through a Time Capsule. My iMac is connected through a cable and the laptop is wireless. The printer is connected to the USB port on the T.C.

Here's the scoop, I can connect both computers wirelessly on the network no problem but the printer is not recognised by the iMac whatsoever. Now I know I could probably disconnect the cable on the iMac and it would probably recognise the printer but is there a way to fix this issue and leave it connected by the cable?

Both computers back up to the TC w/o issue, I don't see why the TC cannot facilitate printing via a cable since it obviously communicates to the computer w/ Time Machine. Is there a setting to fix this? I have to admit I'm kinda new to setting up networks and working w/ them.

PowerPC :: EMac And IMac File Sharing With Ethernet Cable And Other Cable?

Oct 12, 2010

I was wondering how I could file share, or make the whole Hard Drive (HDD) accessible to another computer. The two other computers I have are a Toshiba Laptop with Ethernet and USB, and a iMac Intel with Firewire, USB, and Ethernet. Putting these to use along with:Three Ethernet Cables Now how do I get the whole HDD visible to the others computers (either/both) and be able to write to it? Also, I do not want to use CDs and have no CDs that came with the computers. I want to put Xubuntu on the eMac and Debian on the iMacs and erase the rest of the Hard Drives. The computers getting this are the iMac G3s and the eMac G4 in my Signature.

Is there some sort of adapter that would convert the connect that doesn't cost $200? I was able to connect an analog cable from the front of the mac pro's headphone jack into the back of the receiver, but the sound isn't really the greatest.

Can I split the cable line in my room so that I may watch TV, or would this cut my download/upload bandwidth in half?

Applications :: How To Get Parallel Bootcamp

Apr 23, 2010

I just got a i7 15" mbp! I definately have to have bootcamp to run my school's testing software, but i want have parallels run the boot camp partition without me making another VM. I would hate to have double loss of space, but I also want to make sure I can use it on both sides that doesn't mess it up!

I had a mac a long time ago and i got it to read the boot camp with parallel but it then corrupted my bootcamp and I've had double images (waste of space since i am now limited to my ssd size too!!).

Does VMWare fusion 3 do this better? before i do it, i want to make sure it's bug free and does not mess up either side!

Windows On Mac :: 7 In Parallel 5 Boots In 2 Seconds

Dec 4, 2009

This really isn't a bad thing, on my iMac i5 with a the stock configuration configured with 2 cores and 3GB of RAM on Windows 7 Profession 32-bit, my VM boots in 2 seconds; the boot is so fast that it displays the Vista-like scroll instead of the 7 splash screen during boot. Basically I'm curious what's going on here? I'd like to do the same on Mac Pro which takes about a full minute for Windows to load up. The drives on my a Mac Pro about 5x faster than the iMac and I have a 4 processors and 4GB of RAM allocated to Windows... Both are running Parallels 5 for VM and both uses 64GB for the virtual disk.
