I have a week old new Mac Mini (2.3 Ghz Intel Core 5; 4 GB of RAM) and noticed its power cable is loose. I don't seem to be alone online like in [URL]... Is there a fix for this like a better power cable?

Today during High School, my first period, I noticed a Mac iBook G4 in the recycle pile used by my schools Tech department. I decided to swoop it up and give it a whirl, and see for myself what the problem with it was.
When I first powered it on, I was receiving a scrambled signal on my display. It was merely a white screen with lines in it, after a while of tinkering, even grabbing a few mac knowledgeable buddies of mine to see if they could do anything. It seemed like this would drag on, and I would not fix it.
In the end, we ended up tapping the screen and seeing a faint hope of light, that light was the appearance of the desktop! Unfortunately, the screen soon vanished back into it's scrambled state. Upon further tapping, we could only figure it was a problem with the connection of the display to the logic board.
How long is the cable on the new 24" with the mini connector? Is there an extension cable available?
The Mac Pro will be on the side of my desk, maybe 6 ft to where the monitor will be?
Is it just mine or does this new mini power connector come out too easily? I have to be very careful removing the ethernet cable or FW800 cable lest the power connector slip out and cause a hard shutdown. It's a bit annoying.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Pro last september along with my Thunderbolt monitor.Everything was working until today (yes today was my first time bringing my Macbook Pro elsewhere) and when I moved it, the display shut off.then I realized that when I just move the Thunderbolt plug around it would turn on and off the display depending which side I would hold. would it be a problem with the Monitor cable? or a problem with the Macbook Pro itself? both are still under warranty, so I'm not worried, but it saves me the trouble of lugging either (especially the monitor) back to the Apple store.

So I was swapping some hard drives around in my 12-hour old 15" June Unibody MBP and apparently I broke the hard drive cable. More like I tore 3/4s than broke it. Thankfully I was installing a SSD into the optical drive so I'm still up and running, I just don't have the stock HDD in there as a data drive.
I saw something on eBay for around $50 - I'll have to open the MBP back up and see precisely what the cable looks like - I'm wondering if there's a store that'll have the piece I require? I'd prefer to not take it to an Apple store and have them void my warranty because the HDD isn't user-serviceable part.
Looking at the Apple online store, the 24" Apple Cinema Display comes with:What's in the Box * LED Cinema Display* AC power cord* Cleaning cloth* Printed documentation So, my question is, do you have to buy the actual connector cable separate, or is it permanently attached to the display? I would like to connect it to a brand new MacBook Pro 15".

I bought a record player over ebay and the only thing missing is the power cable. It is an AC input and the connector looks like this.
My power connector strip has broken apart on my iBookG4. In the past, I would put it on, by using a safety pin, to short-circuit it to fire it up. It eventually froze up, I took the battery out and put it back in. Previously, in the past this has worked to get it back on. However, now I cannot get it back on.

View 5 Replies View Relatedpicked up an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 for my X1900XT card. Got tired of hearing the stock fan kick up every month or so needed to be vacuumed out as the fins got clogged. Anywho, the cooler is designed to work alone without a fan and is working great, however I would like to install the fan module for the cooler to give it just a bit more cooling power, especially with hot Alabama summers on the horizon. Does anybody have a spare stock X1900XT fan 3 pin power plug available or know of a source of one? My Mac Pro is still under Applecare, so if anything happens and I need to get it back to Apple I need to return the video card to stock form, thus not allowing me to use the plug that is on the stock fan I removed.

I finally lost (seems so, at least ) that little semi-clear plastic cap shaped like a rectangle with rounded edges that covers/protects the connector of the MBP power supply when it's not connected to the computer (and being transported).....at least, that's what I used it for.
I did a quick search and couldn't find any relevant posts, so sorry in advance if this has been addressed.
Does Apple or someone else sell a replacement for such a dinky little thing.....although, frankly, I found it to be quite useful to protect the connector .
My sister has just broken off the central pin to her iBook G4 which is now wedged inside the connector. Obviously the ac adapter is screwed and needs replacing but short of pulling out the offending pin from the inside of the connector, would I have to replace the power supply? How complicated is this? Cost? Any guides etc?

The power button cable that runs from the power button on the casing into the logic board has no connector on the Logic Board itself, now I have an old logic board that whilst being broken has a connector on it but I really don't want to have to solder the connector on for fear of breaking the logic board.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to replace the hard drive in my eMac, but for instructions I HAD to follow some darn take-apart guide that said pull out the connection for the power button cord from the logic board. I didn't know that it was SOLDERED in there, and now I can't complete putting my eMac back together without doing so.
Can this be fixed without having to send it to Apple? Does it HAVE to inolve soldering, or is there an alternative? Is there a way I can temporary have my eMac power on until I get the connector fixed?

I plugged it back in and started it up to see my clock was messed up. I changed the clock and redid the update. Everything seems to be working now but I was just wondering if anything else could have happened?
