For a number of reasons, I cannot use a web based mail program and use Apple Mail. Is there any way to synchronize my laptop and desktop mail activities so whatever happens on one happens on the other?
View 7 RepliesI've been Promac based for years and now run a Macbook Pro for mobility around the office and house.I'm getting flustered running 2 systems in tandem along with 1 wife and 3 kids! Currently before I leave the desktop I put a copy of my current work on my TimeCapsule then pull it down to the laptop, work then visa versa. I would like my work folders, photos, and music to be on both machines. I see programs like Drop Box and Chronosyc, the language on the Chrnosync website make is appear fairly complicated, can I ask if anyone might spare a moment to cover their expieriences of them or any other setups?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a new Macbook Pro for my mum and I need to find the simplest, easiest and most fail proof solution to sync the two machines together. She is an author and works off an iMac in her study and will use the laptop in another room, but also when traveling around. She is a pretty much a computer novice so I need a method where she won't have to do anything or manually sync and won't have any issues with duplicate copies of files etc. If I was doing this I'd definitely be looking at something like Chronosync as I have a large hard drive full of music and video files but my mum only really uses word documents that don't take up much space. The guy in the Apple Store suggested moving all of her documents and files (only about 8GB) to MobileMe and then accessing them via iDisk from both machines. Would this be her best option?
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince the Safari 5.1.5 update, one function of my bank's bill pay can not be accessed and defaults to a different page. I checked with the bank this morning and it seems the latest update of Safari blocks entry into the Medivante bill pay function which operates within the shell of the bank web page. The browser gives no indication that that page is actually from Medivante. Essentially, Safari sees this as a third party and blocks the browser from even getting information, not just cookies!
Bill pay can be accessed from the main page to set up a payment since that is a flow though using the bank information or setup, but is blocked if doing any editing which requires the site communicating directly with Medivante within the bank site. This can only be gotten around by changing to NEVER blocking cookies. Having the setting of blocking 3rd party and advertiser cookies no longer can be used with the bank site if I need to access the bill pay function. This doesn't even seem to be an issue of cookies, but is blocking access to bank/Medivante information.
Because the never setting is a risky one that only a fool would allow, I have to change the setting while I am in the bank site, change back cookie preferences when done with the bank, then close Safari before I do further browsing (seems the new settings don't always take effect until the browser restarts). This might be for our protection, but Apple has broken convenient use of the bank site that had worked prior to the update. I do not know who else might be affected. My bank is not one of the "big name" financial institutions but is certainly not a minor institution.

Whenever I try to sync my iphone 4S, the same thing happens. I get a message saying that I don't have enough storage. I'm not sure why as I don't have a lot of apps. I actually have enough storage in my ICLOUD account but it is not recognizing it even after I changed the settings to automatically back up it to ICLOUD.

I have an ongoing project for school that requires me to work on it both at home and in school. When I have finished working on the documents for the project in school I save them to a single folder on my USB flash drive. When I get home I need to continue working on the same files within that folder. Is there an application that will sync the folder on my memory stick with the one on my home laptop as soon I plug in the flash drive? Could I make this in Automator?

It means I don't have to take my laptop in school, I have all the files, pictures and documents I need for when I may need them at school. I have always just been copying and pasting files that I have changed or added onto and from the iPod Hard Drive. Now I use the files so much I always loose track of what I have updated and haven't and end up without the files I need when at school.
Is there a program that can keep my laptop and iPod folders up to date by syncing just the changed, added and deleted files. iTunes can sync quite a few things but not documents and folders which is annoying. A well needed update I feel as the iPod is increasingly becoming a necessity in a lot of peoples every day lives. So am I the only one that uses my classic as a portable hard drive for my work?
The icloud on my Mac Book Pro won't sync photos from my devices (iPhone and iPad) using photostream. The devices sync to each other just not the lap top. Everything is turned on in settings..iCloud and photostream.

I want to sync my entire iTunes library to a laptop. However, I don't need the laptop library to hold high quality versions due to space limitation. And I want to be able to make changes to the main library, and have the laptop's library sync to that too. Is there an app that does this? I have searched all over and it seems like there is nothing that does this.

From within my local wireless network, I would like to be able to access individual space's screens from my laptop. Or at the very least, be able to easily work on a certain app/window on my desktop from my laptop.
I love my macbook pro - absolutely LOVE osx. But I am going to be building a windows desktop soon for gaming, photoshop, animation, etc. Can't afford a Mac Pro, so I don't have too much of an option. Here's the situation: I would like to have a setup where my Macbook Pro is completely in sync with my Mac Mini. I put a new drive in the G5 & installed OS 10.5 (the G4 lap runs 10.4) and installed the apps from the original discs onto the new G5 drive. However, I am missing my Photoshop CS2 disc. My question is, how do I transfer Photoshop CS 2 from my laptop to the new G5 drive? I don't want to buy another $200 CS2 app.

Found out I need a new monitor, need one that can give me accurate color for printed photos. I am struggling with buying a Imac. Not sure I will like the glossy screen and printing issues? I am a late 2006 macbook pro 17" with broken LCD screen casing. For now i used superglue to put it back together, but if the computer gets hot i think the superglue will melt and cause problems.i have been told its impossible to find a replacement screen for this model cheap enough to make it worthy of repair.I am thinking of turning it into a desktop by getting an external monitor. Can I remove the LCD screen entirely off the macbook pro so it's just the body, and then connect it to a new monitor? this way i can still use the keyboard/mouse, and not have to worry about the existing screen and superglue, melting.
