I have AOL for my e-mail and I synced my account to my new MBP, but it doesn't show my "Saved Mail" folder on my computer.
The only ones that are accessible are "Inbox", "Sent" and "Trash".
I just received my Macbook Pro 2 days ago, I updated everything that needed to be updated. Now, I got a Yahoo! Mail Plus just so I can sync it onto mail, although I found out you can't sync folders which sucks, but whatever. My problems is the following: If I read my emails on my iphone, or even a regular pc using firefox or something, when I go into mail on my mac, all those messages still show as unread. And messages that I have deleted are appearing again.

I'm looking for software that can silently sync local folders with remote webdav folders.
It would also be nice if I could just relate to the local folder, and the software would automatically synce new files in both directions.

I just got a new mbp and well i have not had this problem yet because i only had one computer. Now i have 2 mbp's and i have mobile me and it does not sync the 'on my mac" folders that i have. is there a way to do this. as in i want the folders to be on both macs and to update through mobile me.

IE: When I update the document on my macbook, it'll automatically update that file on my imac, either by syncing the computer or just joining the network. And when I update it on my imac, it'll update the one on my macbook as well? I've done some searching and is Chronosync or .Mac my only solution?
i dont like keeping important files exclusively in the dropbox folder ... i rather keep them on my macbook pro's HD and so backed up to time machine.
this way, if dropbox were to suddenly become kaput one day, my important files are still with me, not lost forever just because they were exclusively in the cloud. ( i tested this ... i delete a file when in the dropbox web site, it removes it instantly from the dropbox foler on the laptop.)
however, i like keeping a current copy in the dropbox folder, so that i can access the current version on my iphone / ipad.
what i do now is copy the up-dated files every evening into the dropbox folder .... this way i meet both the objectives.
is there anyway i could keep the two folders in sync but only one way ... i change a file on my HD , it automatically changes in the dropbox folder too . however, if a file is changed in the dropbox folder ( read deleted on dropbox servers by some mishap) the original file on the laptop remains untouched.

ive googled everywhere for this type of process; whether it be an application or a bunch of scripts that would be able to do this, it didnt help me at all and/or i didnt understand it at all. is there a simple application that will allow me to plug in my usb drive and it will seamlessly sync with the "documents" and "pictures" folders, for example. basically, i want it to act like im syncing my iphone with my computer: how it automatically updates every time i plug in my iphone. also, i want the program to update the old files with newer, updated files, whether it was updated on my computer, or from another computer saved on the usb drive. basically (again), i want my usb flash drive to be exactly verbatim with the personalized selected folders on my macbook pro (with the older files updated with the newly modified files).

I've got a new Macbook Pro that I'm syncing through MobileMe to the older macbook pro it's replacing, as well as my desktop iMac. It has synced the mail properly, but on the laptop, which has been my main mac for mail etc, there are a lot of folders, old mail etc. I never had these folders etc on the desktop. I would now like to sync (copy) these folders and all the saved mail in them to the new laptop, and sync the whole thing with the iMac.

My iCloud account Sent Mail and Drafts are being syncronized between the cloud the iPhone, but not the iMac. So for example, I see 2 items in my Drafts folder when I log into icloud.com, and I see them in the drafts folder on iPhone mail, but they do not appear in the drafts folder for my iCloud account on Mail.app on the iMac. Also, I don't see emails I sent from icloud.com on my Mac's mail. I have iCloud enabled on the mac, and mail syncing is specifically turned on.

What I'm having problems is that I also currently own a mid 2007 iMac.
Is there an app were I can choose what folders, and files I can sync over a local wifi network?
I currently have Dropbox setup to sync file between home and work, but I don't want to have to chew my internet bandwidth up syncing folders, between 2 computers sitting next to each other.
Edit: and if it can be set up to sync Safari bookmarks, Address Book contacts, iCal events, preferences, widgets etc.. that would be so much better
I currently have a media center machine, and my laptop which i use to load my music with. So i am loading my albums onto my laptop and keeping them in the local Music folder, but i have the rest of my music collection stored on my media machine (also a mac). Im wondering if anyone has a solid free solution i can use where it can sync my music folder on my laptop to the music folder on the media machine. I have looked for some on google but they either cost something, or they dont seem reliable. If i could find one that runs on schedule to back up my music every night that would be prime.

In fact, MAIL doesn't even appear in the list of applications here. Am at a HUGE loss. I have checked Google settings. They are all set to show and show online just fine. I need this for work, so if this cannot be solved, I need to go back to a PC solution. Nothing should be this complicated.

I have seen several programs that (may) do this, but all of the ones that I have seen are $30-$40. I have found several free programs that do something like what I want it to do, but miss the mark by "that much" (for example, Transmit will sync, but only with a network drive). The closest I found was an Automator action, but for some reason the synced items were three seconds apart from each other, so every time it would just re-sync the entire folder (which defeats the purpose).
Are there any free programs that will do a simple sync between two folders?

View 4 Replies View RelatedCan you do a target disc mode through a usb male to male cable? I want to Sync exactly my work files from my iMac to the MBP for when I go away. The best way I've found to do that is to use a free app called SyncTwoFolders.
It means you can copy your work between two computers go away with one and work for a few months come back and sync it with the other and vice versa. To do this you need to connect two computers. My iMac has Firewire and USB. The MBP has USB and Thunderbolt. USB to USB doesn't seem to work.
What cable should I buy to do this? Firewire to Thunderbolt? Firewire to USB? USB to Thunderbolt?

I was just looking at my emails in the mail app. One second all of my folders were there. The next second the ones I had made and sorted emails into were gone. I have very important emails in these which I really need to recover. I have a Time Capsule and Time Machine that backs up automatically but I have gone back a couple of backups and cannot find the missing folders.

I use gmail as my main email account. I have it synched to my iphone (IMAP) and mail.app (IMAP). This was all running smoothly until about a week ago when I turned on my mac and opened mail. It started downloading hundreds of emails.
I looked over them and it seems that all the mails that I have moved to sub folders have been copied to my inbox again and marked as unread.
I have not knowingly changed any settings on my iphone, mac or web based gmail.
I'm migrating the admin side of my life to my iMac. I am using Mac mail for my mai, this includes a Gmail IMAP account and a POP3 account for my meandering ISP. The IMAP one loads up fine with the IMAP folders there under a sub set of folders for the account.But the POP3 account won't let me create folders within it nor does it have a subset like the Geekwolf one you see below.What do I need to do to get it to have folders, I need to be able to sort incoming mail, but at the moment, I can't.My ISP does have an IMAP setting, but I don't want to have the mail sat about on a server.

I use iCloud for syning Mail & Notes. Contacts, Calendars and Documents & Data. I am 100% sure that in the past in iTunes/Info tab "Sync contacts" and "Sync Mail Accounts" showed all my different Address Book groups and different email account to be synced. Since recently they seem disappeared and I only see my different Calendars to be synced. Why are both Sync contacts empty and Sync Mail Accounts both emtpy/dimmed. BTW if I check Sync contacts I get a message that they are synced through iCloud etc. etc. Now if I enable on my Mac another email account in Apple Mail it is not added to my iPhone/iPad anymore. How can I change that ?
