I get the message: the memory modules are installed in the recommended slots. Every time I restart my 2010 Mac Pro. I upgraded my memory with 3 x 2GB OWC memories. They are properly detected, and the system is working fine.
View 22 Replies View RelatedI've had my iMac for just under a week now, and I wanted to play some games, so I did a Time Machine backup, and ran BootCamp. Vista install disk wouldnt work, so I used my copy of the Windows 7 RC1 32bit. That worked fine, its installed and working just fine, but when I went to check what it would show under "System" in the control panel, it shows my memory as 4.00GB and says 2.73GB useable. Is this normal? I know that 32 bit cuts off memory at around 3.23GB, and I was under the impression with Windows 7 and Vista SP1 the limitation was supposed to be moved to 4GB. Is this something I should be worried about? Also, I get some really bad lag spikes on Windows.

What are the odds 2nd slot will fail? Is that rare? Is it just a bad solder connection on main board for memory terminal? Or some tiny hidden board trace or other hard to find component?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed 4GB of extra ram to my MBP 13" (late 2010) to increase the performance of virtual machines. Though the VirtualBox doesn't recognize the 8GB of ram when i try to create a new machine for Windows XP 32-bit or Windows 7 64-bit. I haven't tried it with other operating systems. I have also reinsalled the VirtualBox but it didn't work.

I've bought a mac pro in jan 2008 with the 8 core 2.8 ghz setup and 2x 1gb of ram.
Now i want to upgrade but im doubting what will give me the most performance:
4x1gb = 137 dollar
2x2gb = 95 dollar
What would you guys do? I read that one gb modules are faster because I already have 2x1 gb and with 1gb all modules will be even...
I have a mid 2010 white MacBook with 2GB RAM and I want to upgrade to higher RAM. I know my limit is 4GB and I read how to do it on the website. [URL] But I need to know where to buy it, and if it is really worth it. Should i buy online or from the store.

Planning to order a new Mac Mini in the coming week and would like to get some advice as to what to go with in terms of memory - brand and model-wise. I will be going for 2 x 2GB of course.
I see here on newegg that one reviewer is saying that the corsair modules don't seem to be working with his Mac (isolated case?).
I'm going to be getting an iMac 27" when they come out and just get the stock 2x2GB sticks of RAM that come with it. I want to upgrade to 8GB... but I'm doing 2x4GB so that if I ever decided I wanted to do 16GB (I don't see why, but why not at least have half of it?).
My question is, if I do this, should I leave the 2x2GB sticks in with the 2x4GB sticks? Or should I take them out?
There seems to be some conflicting ideas about what RAM to use. I know you're supposed to do it in pairs, but I don't know how the iMac handles having 4 slots.
Did I do this wrong?
Each bank has a 4gig and a 2gig. I installed them into the machine with the 2x4gig on the left, and the 2x2gig on the right, and the "banks" are apparantly front and back, not side and side.
I installed SL on my hard drive (upgrade from Leopard) and it worked great, just popped in my Intel X25-M G2 160GB today, installed SL.
I checked my About This Mac info and it shows I have ONLY 14GB RAM, I had 18GB before...
Does anyone know why?
I'd just like to make sure that it'll work just fine with 2x4GB RAM modules as well as 2x2GB RAM modules for a total of 12GB? I don't need to get 16GB do I?

What is the max "addressable and usable" DDR3 1333 memory that can be installed in a Mac Mini i7 running Lion Server?The Apple Store will install up to 8GB but I have seen 3rd party 2x8GB SO-DIMM 1333MHz "Apple memory" available that will allow 16GB. Does anyone know what is the real usable limit is? I can't find specifics in the docs and I don't want to install 16 if the bus can truly only address 8.
