How do i connect my Xbox 360 to my IMAC 21.5 (mid 2011)? my imac does have the thunderbolt port. I was wondering if it works when i use the hdmi cable to connect the xbox to (hdmi to thunderbolt) adapter then to my IMAC. based on what i have read, this version of imac supports target display mode.

What's the best way to connect my iMac (2011) to my TV? My TV has HDMI inputs and my iMac has Thunderbolt ports, so I know I can connect them with a cable, but they are about 20 feet apart and I think that's too long for a cable run.

I am having difficulties connecting from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares. First of all it takes so long time to discover the share in iMac, which it's called "mediaserver". After finding it I cannot connect and gives "Connection Failed: message. If I choose "Connect As.." option I wait some time and then pops out with an error:
"There was a problem connecting to the server "mediaserver". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
If I try from Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server ... write in Server Address : smb://mediaserver it fails. But if I write the IP address, like: smb://192.168.1.42 it works after couple of tries. If I try now to Make an Alias for the share I get "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -8060)." I have updated to Mac OS X version 10.7.3.

Can I connect my iMac 27" late 2009 to a 20" ADC cinema display? Here's a diagram of the back of my model, fyi. The folks at my local Apple Store say it's possible, but will cost $100 to get the necessary peripherals. On top of that, the technology is so different, connecting ADC to DVI to Mini Display Port, and I'd be better off getting a 3rd party monitor. If this is indeed true, what kind/model of 3rd party monitor should I look for?

Does anyone know how to connect one of the new macs (snow leopard) to an xbox 360 for xbox live? I've managed to get it set up so that when you run test xbox live connection on the 360, it recognises that the xbox is connected to a network, but i can't get it to the next stage, onto the internet. When I log on the 360, i get a message saying "another device on the network is using your computers ip address........try connecting again later etc."

I'm currently in an apartment with a single wired connection running to my Macbook Pro, i haven't got time to buy a switch or router right now and i've been trying to connect my 360 to the internet using Airport. All of the how-to's i've found so far concern connecting the 360 and Macbook via Ethernet rather than Airport, and while i've tried to follow the steps as best as i can i haven't been able to connect to xbox live.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought my MacBook Pro and a brand new Airport Extreme to go with it about 4 months ago. I have the MacBook and my wife's iMac hooked up wirelessly to the Airport Extreme with no problems. My son't Wii also hooks up with no problems wirelessly. My Xbox 360 hooks up sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. It's not wireless, it's hooked directly to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet cable. When I first got the Airport Extreme, the Xbox had no problem hooking up to it and the internet. But lately it sometimes hooks up, and sometimes it doesn't...with no explanation as to why other than maybe the position of the planets or something. Restarting the Airport Extreme helps sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I'll just leave it be for a few days...change nothing...and then try the Xbox again and automagically it seems to work...for a few days. Then for no reason will just stop again. It can't connect through anything then, not even hook up to one of the Mac's using Connect360. It's as if the 360 is not even hooked to any network then. Also, the Xbox 360 had zero network problems when I was using a DLink router, which was the set-up to hook to the internet and the hub of the home network for the past year. The 360 could hook to the Macs and access the Internet. But the Dlink wasn't wireless, which is why I went with the Airport Extreme when I got my Macbook Pro.

I am using a rocketfish thunderbolt to HDMI dongle, HDMI cable to the TV. The TV seems to recognize that something is connected, but the message on the screen still says no signal. I've tried the various HDMI inputs as well as the HDMI/DVI input. I use the same HDMI cable to connect to the iPad to the tv without problems.Â
My Macbook shows "Samsung" under displays, so the machine is connecting to the tv. Could this be a firmware issue on my TV? The TV is approx 3 years old. This is part of the reason I bought this machine

As far as I'm aware the hardware is not an issue it's the firware lacking the drivers to be able to install Snow Leopard. I've tried 10.6, 10.6.3 & 10.6.7 to no avail.Â
I've also tried formatting the drive and booting the dmg's like that also to no avail, now backing up to lion via time machine.Â
Years of using windows being easily configurable and moving to mac 4 months ago finding that it quite restrictive but probably why its safer as an OS is frustrating.Â

I have a mid 2011 27inch i5 desktop and the fan noise is so bad.. I've had 5 macs and they have all been pretty quite..This thing is unbelievable. Had to have the HD replaced because it was making a grinding noise, fixed now but the fan drives me mad.. took it to apple and they say this is normal. $1800.00 for state of the art technology... having had a few imacs i would expect the same as what i got last time, thats why i bought another one.. But this is definitely not what i got last time !I sit at this thing 10 hrs a day sometimes... i can't believe i piad 1800 bucks for something that makes more noise than my air con in silent mode... Â
