Anytime I plug *anything* into the Thunderbolt port, the temperature jumps up by 15C-20C.Â
To be specific, if I plug a "DisplayPort->HDMI adpater" in even if it's not connected to an actual display the temparature increases.Â
SMC reset and EFI updates don't seem to help resolve the problem.  some users have reported that "InsomniaT" is sometimes the cause of the problem, however I don't have this sofware installed.Â

I'm using a 13 inches mid-2011 macbook air with OS X 10.7.4 on 12 June, I found the update of Thunderbolt 1.2 in the system update center and I patched it. Luckliy, this patch didn't kill my kernel as it did to many other machines. But I'm still a bit worried when I learned that this updates messed up a lot of users' machines. Now applle announces the newer version of thunderbolt 1.2.1 to correct what was wrong. But no matter how hard I try to check system updates, I don't have it. I know I could try to download it on the website, but is there any valid reason that I don't get this patch? Will install in creating new problems?

I've recently bought an external hard drive that works on Thunderbolt 2 (LaCie d2 3TB). When I connect the new drive to my Macbook Pro through the thunderbolt port, the drive isn't recognized. However, the drive works fine through a USB connection. I thought that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are compatible, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Same to start iWork like Pages or Keynote.Sometimes Safari freeze, loading images or loading plugins like flash animations. Generally Lion works with low performance and I wish Snow Leopard back. But my Mybook Pro late 2011 is not compatible to install Snow Leopard on it.Â

I am using a rocketfish thunderbolt to HDMI dongle, HDMI cable to the TV. The TV seems to recognize that something is connected, but the message on the screen still says no signal. I've tried the various HDMI inputs as well as the HDMI/DVI input. I use the same HDMI cable to connect to the iPad to the tv without problems.Â
My Macbook shows "Samsung" under displays, so the machine is connecting to the tv. Could this be a firmware issue on my TV? The TV is approx 3 years old. This is part of the reason I bought this machine

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a Wacom Cintiq and it works fine with my PC desktop, however, all of my drawing and painting software is on my macbook. I have been having problems getting the Cintiq's display to work.
The Cintiq basically works as an additional monitor, and has a DVI-I cable. The Cintiq came with a DVI-I to VGA adapter, so I simply bought a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter at Best Buy (the apple brand adapter). I hooked the adapters together, turned on the Cintiq then turned on the Macbook and went to "Displays" under "System Preferences". I clicked on "Detect Displays" and the Macbook was able to detect the Cintiq fine. I then did what the Cintiq manual told me to do by configuring the resolutions and all that, but despite this the Cintiq did not pick up any screen from the Macbook. The error message on the Cintiq read that it did not detect any input from my Macbook, which is odd because the Macbook was able to detect the Cintiq just fine.
When I connected my Cintiq to my PC (by use of the DVI-I to VGA adapter as well) the Cintiq picked up the screen within seconds of turning on the PC. What is the problem here? I really do love my Cintiq but it is useless if I cannot use it with my work Mac. Do I have to buy a new adapter or am I doing something wrong with setting up the monitor? Or are the Cintiq and Macbook simply incompatible?
What's the best way to connect my iMac (2011) to my TV? My TV has HDMI inputs and my iMac has Thunderbolt ports, so I know I can connect them with a cable, but they are about 20 feet apart and I think that's too long for a cable run.

I connect to a Windows network. We recently upgraded to a Windows Small Business Server 2011 server from a Windows SBS 2003. Previously I had been able to connect and view all files. I am no longer able to. I can see the server, but whenever I try to log in, it says that I have the wrong name or password. View 1 Replies View RelatedAnybody have the 12WX working correctly with lion with no previous wacom installed? hooked it up right away with no problems on a leopard mac pro. had working windows xp on virtual machine no problems.with imac lion, would not run the install drivers from disk (PPC). so installed the latest 6.2 driver and a bamboo intuos 3 driver as recomended by wacom. installed driver for pen. the bamboo driver worked for a day or so ( with no option keys working), but had 4 point calibration unlike the two point from leopard install.now, neither are recognizing a tablet connection, only works as monitor. uninstalled. tried an older driver 6.15. ran fix disk permissions, reset pram. restarted(+++). dis and re connected. reinstalled again and again. still no luck getting it running on a new mid 2011 imac with lion.

I am having difficulties connecting from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares. First of all it takes so long time to discover the share in iMac, which it's called "mediaserver". After finding it I cannot connect and gives "Connection Failed: message. If I choose "Connect As.." option I wait some time and then pops out with an error:
"There was a problem connecting to the server "mediaserver". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
If I try from Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server ... write in Server Address : smb://mediaserver it fails. But if I write the IP address, like: smb://192.168.1.42 it works after couple of tries. If I try now to Make an Alias for the share I get "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -8060)." I have updated to Mac OS X version 10.7.3.
