The MBP has 2 RAM slots so my first question is whether the 4GB is 2x2GB or 1x4GB. Will I see any difference in my MBP performance if i do decide to upgrade?the model of the RAM which is compatible with my model.

Apr 8, 2012I am wondering how much memory I can upgrade with my MacBook Pro Late 2011. I went on Apple.com and they only offer up to 8GB of Ram for my model when I looked around and saw that on OWC ( MacSales.com) which is a very excellent reliable source for all your Apple Products. But, I was able to find a 16GB of Ram for my MacBook Pro Late 2011 and it said it can be used for my MacBook Pro.Basically Apple says its only up to 8GB of Ram while I see other people have 16GB of Ram for the same year as mine but the only difference is the the size of the computer. Anybody could give me a answer with this question as I dont want to buy the 16GB of Ram and it not working for my computer. url...

Purchase a qualifying Office 2008 for Mac product between Aug. 1, 2010, and Nov. 30, 2010, and you will be eligible to download Office for Mac 2011 at no additional cost* when it becomes available. My question is...should I do it? Does anyone have any experience or insight into Office 2011? Also...I'm not sure if this should be a determining factor, but my purchased copy of Office 2008 came with three product keys. Apparently if I upgrade to 2011, I only get one product key. Big deal?

May 19, 2012MB Pro: 8,1 early 2011 - (13') 4G ram: the MB Pro errors when I attempt to install two 4G SO-DIMM modules (description below). I have actually attempted "two new" (OWC) Other World Computing sets of (2x4G), after it was believed one of the first modules arrived bad. The result remains; only one 4G modules works, in the lower slot. The upper/top slot does not accept a 4G module. I have tried two sets with all the possible combinations using an existing 2G and a new 4G. With this present setup all I get is 6G of ram. In addition, I used eraser on the ram, no go. I followed desktop procedure, unplugged battery etc., etc..

Apr 28, 2012I run parallels a fair bit for research and my MBP is pretty slow. Took it to genius and he said to get a memory upgrade to 8GB. However, I'm reading everywhere that it can handle 16GB and the Crucial says it is compatible (only £100 ish for this so seems a pretty good deal). All well and good- but will this invalidate Apple care as the max Apple state it can handle is 8GB? Or.....is 8GB going to be enough anyway?Â

Apr 5, 2012As far as I'm aware the hardware is not an issue it's the firware lacking the drivers to be able to install Snow Leopard. I've tried 10.6, 10.6.3 & 10.6.7 to no avail.Â
I've also tried formatting the drive and booting the dmg's like that also to no avail, now backing up to lion via time machine.Â
Years of using windows being easily configurable and moving to mac 4 months ago finding that it quite restrictive but probably why its safer as an OS is frustrating.Â

May 6, 2012I have a mid 2011 27inch i5 desktop and the fan noise is so bad.. I've had 5 macs and they have all been pretty quite..This thing is unbelievable. Had to have the HD replaced because it was making a grinding noise, fixed now but the fan drives me mad.. took it to apple and they say this is normal. $1800.00 for state of the art technology... having had a few imacs i would expect the same as what i got last time, thats why i bought another one.. But this is definitely not what i got last time !I sit at this thing 10 hrs a day sometimes... i can't believe i piad 1800 bucks for something that makes more noise than my air con in silent mode... Â

Apr 13, 2012I haven't installed any new software in the last 3 months. About 2 weeks ago the iMac shut down on me out of nowhere. I put my hand on the top-rear and it was really really hot. I left it for an hour and tried to start it up again. A progress bar showed underneith the apple logo at boot up. When it got to about 15% it shut the computer off again. It did this over and over. I restored from a Time Machine back-up and it worked. I started monitoring the temperatures inside and it seems my graphics card (the AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB) runs constantly around 80 degrees C. That's hot. I'm not doing anything besides browsing and listening to iTunes so I don't know what could be stressing the GC. Nothing is out of the ordinary in the Activity Monitor.Â

I read that in some cases an older version of Entourage caused some problems so I deleted Entourage - can't use it anyway - but that didn't work. Have rebooted several times over several days and same problem remains.Â
