View 1 RepliesToday I bought iMac 27-inch. Firstly I planned to buy 21.5 inch, but when I saw this 27-inch I decided to buy it. I've got Core 2 Duo version.
So, I wanna to connect my 360 to this iMac. I have Mini Display -> DVI adapter and than DVI -> HDMI adapter and the problem could be sound. DVI does not transmit any sound. So is there option to play sound from 360 on my iMac or via headphones? What if I connect stereo cables (into mini jack using adapter).
Can i use my iMac 21.5 as an external display for my Windows based pc?
Im look for a wired solution, not a airport or even using internet programs like VLC

How do i connect my Xbox 360 to my IMAC 21.5 (mid 2011)? my imac does have the thunderbolt port. I was wondering if it works when i use the hdmi cable to connect the xbox to (hdmi to thunderbolt) adapter then to my IMAC. based on what i have read, this version of imac supports target display mode.

I've got quite a simple question about an MBP and an Xbox 360, which I'm sure some have asked and others have answered before, but I'm looking for a straight-forward response given the situation I find myself into. So I've got the two devices, and I'd like to use the MBP's display as a video output for the 360. What I've also got is a VGA adapter for the 360, so I could connect it to a monitor instead of a TV. So basically, is this achievable, and if it is, what else do I need, in case I need anything else? Sorry for the improper way of writing this message, but all I have is an HTC Desire, and I find it quite difficult to type very well.

Say I set up my xbox with a component to minidisplay port adapter and plugged the mini display port into my macbook pro 13 inch, could i use the moniter as a dsplay for my xbox. I currently don't have an hd tv in my dorm and i like the display on my macbook and would like to use it. Also, would it be possible to buy something like an hdmi to firewire 800 and then use the firewire port on my macbook for the video in. Even though the mini displayport is an output, will it make a difference. I am also interested in buying a capture device and using that with the usb port on my mac, but i have heard that the latancy is really bad and you don't get to play at the full resolution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently i own an xbox 360 Slim 4G model. I also own a copy of a game that needs about 16g of memoery so i cant store it on the xbox. Wondering if its possible to connect my xbox to my macbook pro and store the game on the computers hd and have the xbox 360 recognize it and still function through my xbox and tv. In essence as an external drive while still having full function.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just ordered an i5 Mac Mini and while it's destined to be used as a media-centre/ streamer connected to my TV via HDMI, initially I want to hook it up to the display on my 2011 iMac. Can one of you clever bods point me in the direction of what cable I need, and also what do I need to do to the iMac to make it behave as just a monitor? Is it just a matter of plugging in the cables and off I go?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been searching around for some time to try and figure out how to hook up my 360 (and it's HDMI output) to my mac pro (quad, 7Gb ram) and 30" cinema display. Apple lists this on their site: [URL] but it's designed as a video capture card, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for using simply to play the 360 on. Are there any other pci express cards or units which will allow me to take the output from the 360, input it through my Mac Pro and display it on my cinema display without lag, wonky setups, or hijacking anything?

I have an iMac from late 2006. Intel Core 2 Duo 17" monitor 1GB RAM 128MB video card I'm purchasing an xbox360 soon and I'm wondering if there's a way to use my iMac's display as the screen for the Xbox? It would really help since, I wouldn't have to buy a TV along with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 23" Apple Cinema Display (the older model in the clear plastic casing) with a Dual 2ghz G5. I'm not to technically inclined yet as I just got into computers and decided to give macs a try. I just got a xbox 360 and was hoping to connect it to my cinema display. Just wondering if this is possible. From what I understand my G5 has and DVI out which is why I had to get a DVI to ADC adapter for it to work with my display. Microsoft sells a VGA adapter but I'm guessing that will not work with my display. Also if it is possible what type of device would I need to use the monitor with the xbox and the G5 together? (I know I can't use them at the same time but alternate so I don't have to keep unplugging and hooking up cables every time I go between machines).

There seems to be some discoloration or burn it at the bottom of my display - it's a bar that extends across the bottom of my screen and just slightly up either side. I tried to take a picture of it but it doesn't really work well. When the screen is on, but dark (say, netflix or a darker game), it appears faded.Anyway, I am wondering what this is, if it is an easily resolvable issue, and whether it would be covered by the 1-year limited warranty? I'm out in rural VT, so I can't take it to an apple store without driving an hour or so (at least) - can Apple Authorized Repair places do warranty repairs?

The screen of my MBP 13 was shattered over the weekend, so I'm rigging up an external screen to tide me until I can fix the glass/LCD at the end of term. I have purchased an Acer P196HQL display and the MBP recognizes it, but the external display says 'No Signal'. I went to the shop in town where I was given a Thunderbolt/Mini to DVI-D convertor which then has a DVI-D to VGA convertor to connect to the external's VGA port. My MBP has Intel HD 3000 Graphics 384 MB graphics and is a GPU type, if that's relevant. I'd love to be able to revise for exams off of this laptop.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro late 2011 with Lion installed. The Performance is less than I expected if compare with my old Macbook with Snow Leopard installed. Connect to Apple's Thunderbolt Display Performance goes doen to very, very, very, very slow. For Example to load a JPG in Preview it takes more than 30 seconds until 1 min to load. Same to start iWork like Pages or Keynote.Sometimes Safari freeze, loading images or loading plugins like flash animations. Generally Lion works with low performance and I wish Snow Leopard back. But my Mybook Pro late 2011 is not compatible to install Snow Leopard on it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy external display (HP w2207) seems to conflict with my MacBook Pro (15 inch Retina display, early 2013) since I upgraded MacBook OS to 10.9.4.The external display works at initial boot of Mac but does not work after OS sleeps and I attempt to awaken, and while the external display is not waking, the Retina display flashes through different screen views, which only partially reflect my normal screen, or do not reflect my normal screen at all.

My late 2011 MBP (lion 10.7.3) used to connect to external displays through a VGA cable. It has stopped doing so since recently and I am trying to find out why, and how to fix it. The only changes I've applied to the system are (1) connect to a Thunderbolt display and (2) installed gfxCardStatus. The MBP and Thunderbolt display work flawlessly together, with network, USB, and firewire connections operating. gfxCardStatus has noticably increased my battery life (so I recommend it) and I'm aware that it needs to be in dynamic or dedicated GPU mode for external displays. The VGA external displays do not work when gfxCardStatus is running in either dynamic or dedicated mode, or when I disable gfxCardStatus completely so that it does not show on the process list.

While using Google Sketchup and several other prgrams concurrently my macbook air cpu heats up substantiall. I like keeping the air "open" to allow for maximum heat disipation but of course this keeps the air screen on while I only want to use my external monitor. Is the only way to turn of the air screen turning down the brightness and using the "Mirror Display" option or is there another setting which alows my to utilize only the external display while the screen is open on the air?

As the title states. I am looking for an external display that matches the display on my black MacBook. I want one with the same gloss finish as my MacBook, this way I can calibrate both screens to look the same. That way when I switch screens it doesn't look different.
Anyone know of a screen that looks identical to the (previous generation) MacBook? I was thinking of getting a Samsung T240 but it has a different finish. How are ASUS screens? Any screens out there that have the same gloss finish?
i'm hoping someone can help me out on this little problemmy usual set up is a pair of speakers connected with jacks via an m-audio usb audio interface, with an external monitor connected via mini-dvi to dvi.now for some reason my audio interface has randomly broken (on a side note, could a power cut have somehow broken a usb peripheral connected to my macbook whilst it was asleep?) so i've hooked up my speakers to the line out to rca. Now for some reason, when i plug the mini dvi connector into my macbook i get an incredible amount of hum. not just a little, alot!

This is an odd, intermittent problem that started about a month or two after purchasing my fall 2011 MBP 15 (i7 2.5, 16GB RAM). This problem started, went away on its own, and now it's back after about two months of being trouble free. When I close my computer, it doesn't go to sleep. The slit light on the right front of the computer does not go into its slow flash mode; however, it does light up solid, and theng it stays lit. When I open the lid, the computer wakes up immediately (it was never "sleeping" to begin with), but then after a second or two the screen fades to black. The screen can be brought back to life by pressing either of the brightness buttons on the keyboard.I took it to the Genius Bar, and of course I couldn't replicate the problem for them. When I got back home, I decided to test the computer plugged in, and that's when the problem came back.I don't know why it went away previously. So, in summary: The issue only occurs when the computer is plugged in.The sleep problem existed before I installed 3rd party RAM and Parallels 7, and they exist now after I have installed the RAM and new software.I use a wireless mouse, and the little dongle has no effect on the sleep issue - the computer will not sleep (when plugged in) either with or without the dongle in a USB port. The battery charges just fine. All of my software is up-to-date, and I'm running OS X 10.7.3I have checked for the Flashfake malware, and I do not have it.I am running Sophos Anti-virus; I have done a scan, and have found no threats. They flashed my PRAM and ran some tests at the Apple Store and everything passed.

10.9.4 has failed to fix what was fine in 10.9.2 and broken starting with 10.9.3 -- a display (Dell U3011) connected to a Mac Mini mid-2011 via either a DisplayPort cable or dual-DVI adapter suffers from frequent loss of signal. The elsewhere-prescribed-juju of changing spaces, unplugging and replugging cables, ... works randomly and for short duration.
HDMI connection works (producing non-native resolution on the U3011).

I have an 13" MBP that I ordered new in April, 2012. It is running Lion. I have an external monitor that is capable of 1440x900 resolution. I have an external keyboard and trackpad hooked up, and I like to close my MBP up and stick it in a BookArc. I want to be able to have the internal display disabled and to have the MBP only allow me to put windows on the external display, so long as the lid is closed. I also want to be sure that I am taking advantage of the resolutions available on my external monitor, which are higher than those supported by the internal display (specifically 1440x900).
This doesn't seem to work because I either have to allow the MBP to continue to draw my desktop across both screens (internal and external), OR use the "mirror displays" mode, which restricts my resolution of my external monitor. This means I either forgoe the additional resolution benefits of my external monitor, or I end up with windows that fall off-the-cliff, so to speak, because they are drawn in the portion of the desktop that would be shown on my internal display (which is closed).
I've read the community support pages on using the MBP with an external monitor, most relevantly, this page. It simply recommends using the "mirror displays" option. However, this option, as I mentioned above, doesn't allow me to make use of the additional resolution, and my external display looks bad. how to keep the 13" MBP in closed clamshell position, with the internal display disabled, and use my external monitor at resolutions higher than those allowed by the 13" MBP but which are available to my external monitor when not in "mirror displays" mode?
