I have added all of the updates and patches but the problem continues. It started with one application and now it's happening to others where they shut down suddenly at start-up and have to be restared and the windows restored. It's a brand new computer and wasn't doing this initially.

I am starting to have my imac go a little nuts on me. I was importing video from Iphoto to Imovie when the screen went dark and the message " Your computer must be turned off now, Please press power button.Â

I can't seem to start my computer because it freezes

I am getting a pop up "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?".
The one we get, if pressed the power button to switch it off?. The problem is not consistent and mostly I get if left inactive for some time(random). I have run the hardware test(installer DVD and pressing D) without any issue found.
Why does my computer sometimes startup in safe boot

Whenever I start up my Computer, many applications load up also, especially Microsoft programs and I have to close them or it makes the desktop a mess.
Has anyone out there experienced this problem and/or have a fix for this?

A few day ago I startup up my iMac and only a folder with a question mark was shown in the screen.Â
I boot from the Lion DVD, run disk utility but the only drive I get was the DVD and disk1/Mac OS X Base System.Â
I turned off the computer and next morning I turned on agian and this time with no problems, I use it for a few days with no problems but yesterday it happens again...Â
I do run disk utility again onlu turn it off, and this morning I tried to turn it on again, but the same foder appears...I run disk utility (get the DVD and disk1) and turn it off for a few hours.Â
What I should do ? Is there any 3rd party tools that I can try do use to solve this issue ? Â
PS: when the iMac started up with no problems I run disk utility and made a repair disk to the mac HD...

I am using Mac 0S X Leopard, mac mini and facing the following problem:
1) System is taking too long time(10 - 15 min ) for start up and shut down.
2) It is asking every time to set up the current time as and when the system starts every time.
3) When accesing the system preferences , it gets crashed when using index Spotlight.
4) Finder gets relaunched itself for every 60-90 seconds when accessing folder Applications or Utilities etc..
5) The Spotlight is indexing itself, When i tried to stop the indexing of the spotlight using system preference, it gets crashed.
My system got its logic board replaced by the apple once.
the cursor on my imac keeps sticking, and the only way i can free it is to shut down and start up my computer again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my 13" macbook (running SL) for almost 2 years now (I believe) but recently it has started to act rather oddly. On startup it used to take probably 20 seconds or so while now it can take upwards of 3 minutes just to get to the desktop. I have added a few newer programs on startup but this time is just from the apple screen to the desktop, not counting the time for the startup items.
Also, the more annoying issue, when shutting down my macbook will sit at just the desktop (no icons) for several seconds before going to a blank screen for sometimes several minutes. Sometimes the circular loading thing (the one that is used when starting up) appears and when it does I'm forced to do a manual shutdown (holding the power button) because it refuses to shut down. My battery has also been dying easier and taking longer to charge so could it have something to do with the battery?
Yesterday my macbook start shutting down and booting up slowly. It used to work so quickly, and now it's taking much longer. The only thing I did was install a printer before it happened. Then when the problem began I uninstalled the printer with the uninstaller that it came with. I thought maybe that was the issue, but uninstalling it didn't seem to make a difference. I checked in the preferences to make sure it is starting up with the hard drive and it is. I'm not sure what else to do. It's not a huge issue, but it is a difference and the fact that it's only about a month old worries me. I do have to add that even though it's slower than it was just 24 hours ago, it's faster than my Dell PC ever was
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor the past months or so, my machine takes about 40 seconds to start-up and shut-down. And thats after that little "spinning wheel appears on the monitor, which takes about 10 to 15 seconds for an image to appear. In the past, it took less than half that amount of time. I've run Macs "Drive Genius" and "Disk Utilities" from the install DVD several times to no avail. Can someone suggest how to at least cut this time down and back to normal. Its really a drag waiting for this "wheel" to stop spinning, which seems like
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new 09' 20" iMac Core Duo 2.66 with Snow Leopard.
Shut Down: = 7 Seconds. Tried 4 times, same result.
Start Up: 42-44 seconds to Login Screen
Login To Desktop fully loaded: = 6 Seconds
I am not impressed by the Start up or Login. I believe I clocked Leopard at the exact same speeds.
Overall I am not noticing much difference in anything.
After update my macbook takes lot of time to start and shut down , and suddenly it also changed the system date n time .
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife did an improper shut down by holding the power key while something was working on it. She is running mavericks on the system. Now it will start to boot and shut down when progress bar gets half way. Disk utility says it can not fix problems, and when I try to reinstall mavericks from disk utility, it either says hd is locked, or it won't show me hd.Â
We have no system disk, so how can I fix this?
Recently os x has been quitting and I've had to shut down my computer. I've tried to figure out the source of it but I've been having trouble pin-pointing the cause of this issue. Here is my error details.

Is it possible to do this? Just my brother has a habit of leaving the desktop PC, the big energy guzzler, on overnight. Is there anyway to shut it down remotely? FTP or whatever? All'st I know is the Mac technician at uni can shut all the machines down in a block from one machine.

I just realized however that the code I have is wrong, and I can only get it from the guy I bought the copy from tomorrow. My question is, can I just shut down my laptop and start from the partition with no problems once I have the code?
View 6 Replies View RelatedCould someone please explain to me why my computer is shutting down in sleep-mode. In addition, when it happens, the fan goes into hyperblow, which doesn't make sense because it would not be operating if the system were completely shut down. It acts like it is shut down but won't respond or wake up, etc. I re-loaded my system software per the Mac Store Genius' advice, but that didn't work. Is it possible that my power supply is going?

I was just in my room minding my own business and I heard my iMac "shut down" but nothing happened, and I'm still able to use it like normal as I type this message. It seemed to quiet down my fans though, they are still running but much quieter so I guess in a way its a good thing.I'm just curious as to what happened here.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI was doing software update today when all of a sudden my computer seemed to be overloading from the apps I was running prior...After 10 minutes of "Circle of Death" I performed a emergency shut down. (Probably not the best idea) Afterwards I restarted and was stuck on the main loading screen, (Apple with grey swirling circle) I left this for about 20 minutes came back to check on it and nothing had happened, several restarts with no new conclusion.I popped in the startup disk and ran a diagnostic on it with everything coming back fine...What the heck do I do now?
