Aug 29, 2010the cursor on my imac keeps sticking, and the only way i can free it is to shut down and start up my computer again.

MacBook Air :: Stuck On Black Screen With Movable Cursor But No Able To Shut Down Or Restart
Dec 2, 2014I accidentally connected my wife's MacBook Air to my docking station at work today. Nothing seemed to happen so I undocked it and the computer displayed a black screen and I could see and move the cursor using the trackpad. I then tried shutting down by holding the power button for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 1 min, etc. Nothing worked and it's stuck on the black screen so I can't use Yosemite's menu to shut down or restart. When I leave the computer idle for around a minute, the cursor disappears but it will reappear after pressing keys on the keyboard.

Nov 27, 2009I am using Mac 0S X Leopard, mac mini and facing the following problem:
1) System is taking too long time(10 - 15 min ) for start up and shut down.
2) It is asking every time to set up the current time as and when the system starts every time.
3) When accesing the system preferences , it gets crashed when using index Spotlight.
4) Finder gets relaunched itself for every 60-90 seconds when accessing folder Applications or Utilities etc..
5) The Spotlight is indexing itself, When i tried to stop the indexing of the spotlight using system preference, it gets crashed.
My system got its logic board replaced by the apple once.
OS X :: Macbook Slow To Start And Shut Down
Oct 11, 2010I've had my 13" macbook (running SL) for almost 2 years now (I believe) but recently it has started to act rather oddly. On startup it used to take probably 20 seconds or so while now it can take upwards of 3 minutes just to get to the desktop. I have added a few newer programs on startup but this time is just from the apple screen to the desktop, not counting the time for the startup items.
Also, the more annoying issue, when shutting down my macbook will sit at just the desktop (no icons) for several seconds before going to a blank screen for sometimes several minutes. Sometimes the circular loading thing (the one that is used when starting up) appears and when it does I'm forced to do a manual shutdown (holding the power button) because it refuses to shut down. My battery has also been dying easier and taking longer to charge so could it have something to do with the battery?
MacBook :: Slow Start Up And Shut Down
Oct 10, 2008Yesterday my macbook start shutting down and booting up slowly. It used to work so quickly, and now it's taking much longer. The only thing I did was install a printer before it happened. Then when the problem began I uninstalled the printer with the uninstaller that it came with. I thought maybe that was the issue, but uninstalling it didn't seem to make a difference. I checked in the preferences to make sure it is starting up with the hard drive and it is. I'm not sure what else to do. It's not a huge issue, but it is a difference and the fact that it's only about a month old worries me. I do have to add that even though it's slower than it was just 24 hours ago, it's faster than my Dell PC ever was

And thats after that little "spinning wheel appears on the monitor, which takes about 10 to 15 seconds for an image to appear. In the past, it took less than half that amount of time. I've run Macs "Drive Genius" and "Disk Utilities" from the install DVD several times to no avail. Can someone suggest how to at least cut this time down and back to normal. Aug 28, 2009I have a new 09' 20" iMac Core Duo 2.66 with Snow Leopard.
Shut Down: = 7 Seconds. Tried 4 times, same result.
Start Up: 42-44 seconds to Login Screen
Login To Desktop fully loaded: = 6 Seconds
I am not impressed by the Start up or Login. I believe I clocked Leopard at the exact same speeds.
Overall I am not noticing much difference in anything.

Jun 1, 2012I have added all of the updates and patches but the problem continues. It started with one application and now it's happening to others where they shut down suddenly at start-up and have to be restared and the windows restored. It's a brand new computer and wasn't doing this initially.

Now it will start to boot and shut down when progress bar gets half way. I just realized however that the code I have is wrong, and I can only get it from the guy I bought the copy from tomorrow. MacBook Pro :: Trackpad On 2011 Keeps Sticking?
Apr 27, 2012Recently the buttons on my trackpad stick, as there stuck down even when I touch the pad lightley it responds as though i'm clicking down when i'm not. This means that its perminantly clicking and highlighting. Its so annoying.I have googled it and had so many different answers on how to fix it, some said restart the laptop, some said it is a software problem and some said to tap the trackpad lightly. I have updated my laptop with the update that came through and the pad still sticks, and i have restarted my laptop and it still isnt fixed. Â
I dont know why this is happening as the laptop is only 8 months old and i take such good care of it. Is there anyway to fix this?

Jun 2, 2012I have found that my WiFi setting is not sticking. This is a problem when I'm trying to use my Apple TV which needs to be on the same network as my Mac. The WiFi keeps picking up a neighbors network. I change it back to mine, and then the next day it's on the neighbor's again.

Aug 26, 2014I have a problem with my MacBook Pro and its the fact that the trackpad is now sticking towards the bottom so there isn't a tactile click anymore, the trackpad just goes down. Im wondering if this is because I accidentally dropped something sticky into the bottom left corner or if it's just worn out. The bottom right and the middle of the trackpad is still clicking as if new.Â

PowerPC :: Sticking Powerbook Trackpad Button?
Dec 28, 2005I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem, but it's driving me nutts. The trackpad button has done this once before where it would be real loud when you click it. There's a lot of play in it and sometimes clicks twice but only the second click registers... it's hard to explain.
The first time this happened it went awhile after a days use. However, now it's doing it again and it's been a few days now and it's so anoying!
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Rules Not Sticking On IMac
Feb 7, 2012I am having a problem with rules in Mail (OS X Lion 10.7.3). The action rules I make will not stick. We use an Exchange mail server. I want my selected messages to be:
1. Moved to a local (on my Mac) mail folder.
2. Copied to a folder on the Exchange server.
That way I will have a local permanent archive of my mail, and also be able to see recent messages on all my devices (home Mac, iPad). The problem is that after quitting and restarting Mail, the actions get changed so they act on the same folder (e.g. move and copy to my local Mail folder) rather than to the two different ones. I tried removing the old MessageRules.plist in my Library Mail folder, but that made no difference. The newly written rules do the same thing as before.

Safari :: Preferences Not 'sticking' Resetting Each Time?
May 22, 2012I have a strange problem with my Macbook - all works well on my Macbook Pro..Â
When I try to set things in the Safari Preferences - like 'enable extensions' and so forth. When I re-start Safari, they've gone back to the original state.Â
I've tried:Â
- Resetting Safari
- Fixing permissions
- Restarting the machineÂ
I've also looked at the Library folder, to see if things in the 'Safari' and 'Preferences' folder are changing and they are.Â
Even when I set up a new bookmark of some tabs, it works, and I can set it as a default start-up - but, when I restart Safari, it has lost the bookmarks folder.Â

Aug 20, 2014I don't normally have my sound on, but I have of late. It seems that my keys may be sticking, or trackpad, or mouse .. Â
Symptoms: I can hear constant beeping, like you are clicking on a link that is not working, you get that Ding/beep. It is constant, like your continuing hitting the enter button on a link that is not working.Â
I reboot and the sound stops. I don't think it is the mouse - and I do not always have it turned on. Sometimes also when I log in, when you type password, there are characters already entered, and it keeps going ... I have to hard reboot.Â
As far as I know I have not dropped this laptop, nothing has been dropped on it. I can not see if any of the keys are pushed in, and the trackpad looks normal.Â

Apr 7, 2009 I am getting a pop up "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?".
The one we get, if pressed the power button to switch it off?. The problem is not consistent and mostly I get if left inactive for some time(random). I have run the hardware test(installer DVD and pressing D) without any issue found.

Jul 25, 2010When i try to close the monitor of my MPB 13' it clicks in the hinge area like its sticking when i close it, i also feel tention which is released. It sounds like I am breaking it and it does it several times when I close it. When it is closed and I go to the back the black part of the hinge wiggles from side to side.
