Jun 22, 2012My new macbook pro of late 2011 was working perfectly! But i know i shouldnt complain but iv only had it for 5months! Nyways, all of a sudden instead of an instant shut down which it was doing it now takes 5-10 seconds to shut down! And my preference is to shut it down! I dnt like just letting it sleep constantly!?!

Mar 30, 2012My Mac Pro takes two minutes to start up. It is also sluggish during normal operation. I have Parallels and a external hard drive installed. Do either of these contribute to this problem? Or is there a program that can be used to defrag the hard drive. (I recall having similar problems with my IBM computer. When it was defragged the performance of the unit improved).

Feb 24, 2012Only God know how much regret I have for installing Lion.
Lot of problems are there but major problems is startup time it takes 3 minutes to start. Leopart used to start in seconds. Battery life has been decreased.
How to decrease statup time? Is there probme with my Macbook Pro?

OS X Mavericks :: After Install Takes Longer Time To Start Up Mac
Jun 23, 2014Two days ago i installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro and since i did it, my mac runs very slowly. The pointer goes slowly and it takes a lot of time to load the programs (safari, word, etc.). It takes also longer time to start up my mac. I've checked on the activity monitor and the system activity amount is so high, around 80%. But what i've discovered is that when i plug in the charger, my mac suddenly runs faster and i've checked again the system activity is only around 1-2%. How can i make my mac runs faster even when i don't plug in the charger?

Nov 27, 2009I am using Mac 0S X Leopard, mac mini and facing the following problem:
1) System is taking too long time(10 - 15 min ) for start up and shut down.
2) It is asking every time to set up the current time as and when the system starts every time.
3) When accesing the system preferences , it gets crashed when using index Spotlight.
4) Finder gets relaunched itself for every 60-90 seconds when accessing folder Applications or Utilities etc..
5) The Spotlight is indexing itself, When i tried to stop the indexing of the spotlight using system preference, it gets crashed.
My system got its logic board replaced by the apple once.

May 8, 2012I have had my mac for a little of year, a few days ago I downloaded a few things. Since then it takes it about 10-15 minutes to start up, even after it starts up it takes a few more minutes for things to work at a regular speed. I have cleared firefox cache and reset the Pram.

Aug 30, 2014I have a macbook pro mid 2012 non-retina (2.6 GHz Intel core I7 processor, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3) . I installed mavericks 10.9.4 and windows 7 through bootcamp. Almost every time I have to restart the computer, in order to use Windows, it just takes forever to do so. It is permanently stuck in the grey screen with the loading icon and eventually I have to shut it down manually.

Oct 11, 2010I've had my 13" macbook (running SL) for almost 2 years now (I believe) but recently it has started to act rather oddly. On startup it used to take probably 20 seconds or so while now it can take upwards of 3 minutes just to get to the desktop. I have added a few newer programs on startup but this time is just from the apple screen to the desktop, not counting the time for the startup items.
Also, the more annoying issue, when shutting down my macbook will sit at just the desktop (no icons) for several seconds before going to a blank screen for sometimes several minutes. Sometimes the circular loading thing (the one that is used when starting up) appears and when it does I'm forced to do a manual shutdown (holding the power button) because it refuses to shut down. My battery has also been dying easier and taking longer to charge so could it have something to do with the battery?

Oct 10, 2008Yesterday my macbook start shutting down and booting up slowly. It used to work so quickly, and now it's taking much longer. The only thing I did was install a printer before it happened. Then when the problem began I uninstalled the printer with the uninstaller that it came with. I thought maybe that was the issue, but uninstalling it didn't seem to make a difference. I checked in the preferences to make sure it is starting up with the hard drive and it is. I'm not sure what else to do. It's not a huge issue, but it is a difference and the fact that it's only about a month old worries me. I do have to add that even though it's slower than it was just 24 hours ago, it's faster than my Dell PC ever was

Now it will start to boot and shut down when progress bar gets half way. Disk utility says it can not fix problems, and when I try to reinstall mavericks from disk utility, it either says hd is locked, or it won't show me hd.
We have no system disk, so how can I fix this?

Jan 2, 2011I have an i7 MBP with the latest updates for Leopard with VMWare and Windows 7 Home. When the MBP is started on the LAN by WiFi it is able to connect to the Internet immediately. However, when I try to connect or see the MBP from another Windows 7 Home computer on the same LAN, it takes approximately 6 to 7 minutes before it shows up in "Network" on the other computer. No "Refresh" will locate it before the time. When I start VMWare and Windows 7 loads, it shows up immediately in "Network".

-Originally planned on mainly using Windows, so I partitioned the drive to 750gb for Windows and the rest for OSX
I eventually got fed-up with certain things about both Windows and certain limitations/glitches within Bootcamp itself and decided it was time to go OSX, and use the machine properly in all it's Apple glory.
I removed the 750gb of the Windows 7 partition, restoring the whole thing back to OSX. At this point, my computer seemed to be working fine still- OSX would boot up in about a minute or so, nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. After that, I still wanted a small partition with Windows 7; so I partitioned 100gb of my drive and proceeded to install Windows 7. During the Windows 7 installation, as had happened the first time I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp, I got the "Black Screen" issue. Jun 23, 2012I'm not sure when it started, though it was definitely after I updated to Lion, pasting into Textedit started taking longer and longer!
It doesn't seem to matter how much I'm pasting; I tested it by pasting one word, and pasting a paragraph, and they both took long enough that the spinning wheel came up for several seconds.
