I got a Samsung F3,1TB installed and partitioned it via firewire to Guid Partition. One the original install CD 1 is inserted the Apple logo shows up for a second, disapears and a folder with a question-mark appears.

We have 3 iMacs, a Mac Mini and an AppleTV in our household. All are 2007 or newer. The hard drives have failed in each of the iMacs (Seagate Drives) and I suspect it is heat related. I have also had a hard drive failure this year with a Fantom MDU1000 1TB enclosure that uses 2 WD Caviar Green 500GB drives in a raid0 config (One of the WD drive's spindle motor buzzes and does not spin).
I am leery of Seagate and WD Caviar Green and have been researching the Samsung SpinPoint 5400 RPM "EcoGreen F2" series. I don't care about the slower access speed, but I do care about the fact that 5200 RPM drives run cool.
I have had my macbook pro just over a year with no problems. Now I am trying to burn a folder with work in it (indesign, etc) but when I put a blank cd or dvd-r in, it is not recognized. It doesn't spin, no noise, etc. I have tried clicking on the folder and choosing the "burn this folder" option, but the result is the same. Music and data CD's are recognized. I already have an appt. with the genius bar, but I'd really like to avoid the hassle if possible. I just did all firmware updates and software updates.

Some models allow a business card or credit card to insert in the lever of the stand and the back of the imac housing where the stand is attached to. Thus oin pulling the stand levekl down with the acard inserted you will see a few srerws to unscrew to removing the stand. This is not with this imac 24' intel model number (A1225)

I have an iMac A1225 EMC2211 that is exhibiting some weird behaviour. After about 5 minutes of using it (cold boot) it will either have a kernel panic, freeze and go into a blue (bondi blue I think) screen, or shut down. I ran an extended AHT on it and after 10 minutes it shuts down (black screen) then goes into a boot loop (screen stays black and system chimes once every 2 seconds). If the system is warm it will not boot (goes to blank grey screen). The consol reports something with the NVRAM (havent had the ability to post the log yet).

Here recently when I've been watching videos on YouTube, The Video will load to a certain point then after that it stops and when the video gets to that point it just pauses and stops. To be able to watch farther into the video I have to keep refreshing my computer every time this happens and sometimes it loads farther, and sometimes it doesn't. I have been thru 2 external DVD burners Maxwell & LG with USB connections. Both worked OK until I used Lightscribe then they are not reconized. They show up in system profiler but dvd icon will not come up on desktop. I threw out light scribe, disconnected the drives and still will not work.

I have the adapter from Apple that includes the mini display port and converts that to a HDMI Cable to my Samsung Synch Master P2530. The monitor cannot be recognized my the iMac. This monitor worked with my older iMac and it's large display port which adapted to HDMI.

Registrations for software that require web based verifications are not being recognized by my iMac 27 2010 10.6.8Included in the list of software that I have been using for some over a year now is FCE 4, Bias Peak, and Sibelius, and iRealb from the app store.This is not a new issue although with the latest security update installed last week, the problem has been exacerbated.I had the problem last year but found that if I shutdown (not just restarted) and then powered up again all my registrations would be recognized. Now my workaround no longer seems to work. I actually went for about 5 months with no problems and then occasionally I would have the shutdown/power up until last week.

Lion does not recognized HP Scanner. Lion initially recognized the scanner and it worked perfectly for months. All of a sudden communications with the scanner stopped. I have checked the USB cable and it is working properly. I am using Bootcamp and when I boot in Windows the scanner and computer (iMac) work perfectly. I have downloaded, removed and reinstalled the HP software and update for Lion. When I go into System Preferences > Print/Scan, It sees all other printers and scanners including another HP printer scanner.

I formatted my 8GB USB stick on my Mac Snow Leopard and initially decided to try a '35-Pass Erase' but, after seeing that it would take approximately ten hours to complete this I cancelled it. I was then presented with: 'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer'. Now when I insert my USB stick the computer does not recognise it apart from in 'Disk Utility' and I am unable to successfully format or partition the drive. I have also attempted to insert the USB in another USB slot on my computer to see if this would make any difference but I was presented with the same problem.

When I startup my computer I am prompted with the 'there isn't a keyboard connected' message. I'm using an apple wired USB keyboard, it was working perfectly fine yesterday and it appears to still be operational as I can charge my iPhone from it.
I've tried restarting, using different ports, removing other USB devices, but haven't had any luck. I can only access my guest account as my main is password protected.
