Mar 13, 2012I have a MacBook Pro 5,2 with OS X 10.6.8. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I want to hook it up to the Mac to use as a USB tethered network device so I can use it on the train and wherever wifi fails to work. I can get the phone set up right, but the Mac doesn't see it as a network device. There is a Windows network driver for the phone but not a Mac driver that I can find. I CAN use portable WIFI hotspot, but with 2 radios running my battery life is terrible and I get some serious network lag.Â

Dec 28, 2008I dunno if i'm posting this is the right thread, so mods, please move it if it isn't (i'm rather new to this forum)but anyhowI'm having problems connecting my Samsung ALIAS SCH-U740 to my macbook pro via bluetooth. I have a card reader, but i left it at school for the break and i was trying to get file transfers to work over bluetooth.after poking around in the phone settings and getting the phone to be recognized by the computer, i got it connected fairly easily, but my problem is this: firstly, in the bluetooth menu, it says the phone is "not connected" and i can't find a way to make it stay connected. Second, when i try to browse my phone via bluetooth, i get an error that says that my phone doesn't have the necessary services.

May 12, 2012My magicJack, which is my main home phone, suddenly started having problems displaying incoming caller ID on the phone (no problem on the dialpad on the computer itself). The odd thing is that it works fine when connected to my laptop. The magicJack people told me it was a problem with my desktop not having enough "power" to support the phone (though it was supporting it just fine until a month or so ago), but couldn't tell me what they meant by that. I have tried looking in system preferences for a setting that might affect it, but can't seem to find one. So -- the magicJack itself seems to be working fine, but when attached to my desktop (iMac) it won't display caller ID.

The question I have is do I need to connect that modem to the same connection (using a splitter) to where my telephone handset is ?If I connect this usb modem from the macmini to the phone line (not where the handset is), can I then use the Imac to connect to the phone for fax/cpi|? It is all the same phone line and on the same wifi.
