A cd is tucked into the player and there is no thing on desktop to get it out. Its running all the time but das not show a thing. No label is as usuly on desktop and computer das not shutting down.

i am trying to load ms office 2011 on to my imac. when i insert the disc it spins a few times then ejects it without loading. i have tried loading cd's and they load ok but when i tried to load a different dvd that had loaded ok in the past it did the same thing and would not load! i have checked all of the settings and they all appear to be ok.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI think it started from when i updated from 10.5.8 to 10.9. I had been having trouble reading any disks at all and sat down to try and fix it, when I looked more into it i noticed a few errors that kept popping up. When I insert any disk it reads for a bit and then just ejects. When i try and look for the disk utility there is no optical drive there.
When i open CDs and DVDs "You can’t open the “CDs & DVDs” preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time. To see this preferences pane, you may need to connect a device to your computer." In system information - disk burning it says "No disc burning device was found. If the device is external, make sure it’s connected and turned on." When inserting a movie DVD and opening DVD player "A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]
After inserting a DVD it didn't come out. so there is a dvd stuck in there now ... got iMac 27" early 2009 with 2.66ghz 8gb ram and 10.9.4osx
The internal optical drive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846) for my Intel iMac (late 2006) stop working after listening to a music CD. I inserted another music CD and the drive will try to read the CD, but after awhile, it would eject the CD. I inserted the last music CD I listened to and it did the same thing. Then I inserted several other data cds into the drive resulting in the same problem.

I was in the middle of ripping a series of CDs in iTunes when the drive suddenly stopped reading the CDs' contents - I have tried several CDs, including re-trying ones I had already ripped. It does not get beyond track list. Do I need a new drive or can I solve it? I have also tried using a CD cleaning disc. 3 years old iMac with Mavericks installed, no previous problems. It still reads disc title and content list and loads / ejects correctly.

My friend is looking into buying the new 27" iMac Core i7 to replace his PC desktop. The only thing holding him back is that he has an analog surround sound system he uses for his speakers. I am having a hard time myself finding a converter that can make his speakers work in the iMac's optical digital output port. Any products out there that will do that?

So I wanted to get started on Hawaii-Five-0 when I discovered that the Mac does not let me take screenshots of the dvd player. I've tried several other ways (VCL and SnapNDrag) to counter this lack of cooperation, but neither worked and maybe tell me why on earth Apple won't let me take screenshots of DVDs I've bought perfectly legally at a local store???).

My DVD player on my Imac is not longer working...I put a disk in of some video and it stopped responding and then would not eject...I rebooted and held down the eject key and eventually got it out..but the DVD player no longer works...

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a relatively new Mac user so I'm not sure if it's user ignorance or something is wrong with my computer but nothing happens when I insert a cd into the drive. Nothing shows up in iTunes, Finder, or on my desktop. Shouldn't I see an audio CD in iTunes? And if I put a blank DVD into the drive, shouldn't it show up in Finder so I can burn files to it?

I have installed the latest OS update and Safari update, as of 13th May 2012.Flash player will not install.I select the yellow download control from the Adobe site, a grey screen is displayed and nothing happens. I uninstalled FP a few weeks ago because it was crashing Safari 5.0.6 on a regular basis. This morning, I ran the flashback security update sent out by apple a couple of days ago. I decided to see if that update might reduce the flash crashes with Safari + Flash Player, so I have been trying for hours to install FP 10.3. I go to the correct Adobe page and follow the instructions. Nothing happens. The tiny spinning wheel in the internet address line does not stop spinning, even after 30 minutes. I have thoroughly reviewed the adobe pages dealing with installation problems to no avail.

I recently had to get a new iPhone because my last one died. I've purchased all of my music through iTunes and got the majority of the songs back on my phone. About 50 songs won't transfer back though. I tried drag and dropping and checking the sync music button and re-syncing my phone and nothing has worked. Im trying to download videos from youtube and other websites. I downloaded the real player from the real.com website.
In windows, if we wish to download, we move thw cursor to the video and a small tab pops up saying "Download". We click on it, it downloads.
Now in Mac, there is a add on called download manager for real player.
I watched a few vieods over the youtube, to guide myself. Instructions were to open real player and download manager.
Then open the link in safari or firefox where your video is and play it, once the video starts streaming, it should appear in the download manager, and i should be able to download it.
But when i follow all these procedures, the video is not appearing in the download manager.

I created a slideshow with itunes music added in iphoto. I tried the recommended free "burn for mac" software download. It burned a dvd but, this will not play on my dvd player for tv.
