Intel Mac :: 'Initialization Error -43' And The Player Won't Launch
Jun 24, 2012
Recently whenever I try to launch the DVD player I get a message that says 'Initialization Error -43' and the player won't launch. This is a new problem - I haven't had problems with DVD's before. I'm running OS 10.5.8.Â
Info:
iMac (20-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8)
I am very upset and am ready to buy a different computer for my personal use than my iMac 20". I am running OS X 10.5.6 and it's a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and the 320 GB HD. My DVD/CD won't accept/load the CD/DVD at all and the real kicker of it is is that the machine JUST went off warranty. I think the CD/DVD is the Mitsubishi one. Any help would be GREAT.
I have been getting the error message:
There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012].
I have tried to reset the parameters. I have tried to restart the computer and then wait for a few moments. I have tried to use the hold the mouse down and restart. I downloaded the Tray Eject applescript and don't know how to run that. I have NOT tried the shut off and unplug everything but will and see if that works.
I get following message on launch of iMovie. I have re-installed iMovie but problem persists: "The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; please re-install."Â
I can't download adobe flash player. I get so far and then 'error' 10822 is quoted. Disabling Javascript in Firefox and Safari did not work. My system is MAC OS X 10.5.8.
Newbie wants to understand why dvd player cannot launch video dvd. I have been to the apple store genius bar, where the problem has not been solved. It appears to be a software problem, since external HD running OS X 10.6.3 reads disk. I would rather avoid formatting HD drive. Can I selectively reinstall some software, such as DVD Player, from the original 10.6.1 installer disks? I have a Macbook 2.13 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB HD.
DVD Player: unable to load the interface builder file Dock Menu.nib because the object archive is missing. Valid nib files must contain either keyed objects, nib, objects, nib or data nib. Full Path: /Applications/DVD Player.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/DockMenu.nib I've recently upgraded to Mavericks from Snow Leopard. DVD Player was working fine. In fact I've managed to launch it several times by loading the disc while using Recovery Startup.Â
I tried resetting SMC/VPRAM, re-installing Mavericks, deleting the plist.Â
I'm on a mid-2009 iMac. I should add...when I put the DVD in the slot...there's a click or two...then it spits it out again - except for the few times I've managed to load it using the Recovery Startup disk.
I'm running OS 10.5.2 on a MacBook Pro and I've been having the following intermittent issue:Wen I attempt to launch an application. Either from a shortcut in the Dock, or by double clicking on a file associated with that application, or by double clicking on the application icon in my Applications folder I get the following error message. The application ?App Name? cannot be launched.-10810 It doesn't always happen and it isn't always with the same application(s). I've had it happen with everything from TextEdit to Dreamweaver CS3.
I purchased and downloaded Warcraft III from blizzard and was wondering if I could learn how to solve this problem. After The download is finished, I attempt to open up the installer and I get a message saying "Application launch failure: The application "installer" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<installerLauncher><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_LaunchServices><>".
I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).Â
Not sure if anyone else has experienced problems with the this card, but I'm having real problems initializing a Raid 5 array using 4 1TB SATA Hard Drives. I've checked the drives are supported and tried both foreground and background initialization. It seems to fail almost immediately after beginning the process.
I have an early 2008 2.8 8 Core Mac Pro. I've upgraded to the latest EFI bios and the latest system drivers. The Drives are supported and all show ok SMART status.
After upgrading to OS 10.10.1 I keep getting the following error message: "Initialization Failure CrossOver is unable to initialize a critical component. Failed to import cxutils module int Python. See console for errors. The program will now exit."Â

I just recently got a Power Mac G5 (June 2004 model) from a family member, but I want to replace the hard drive with a new one. I understand I can use just about any SATA drive I'm looking to replace the old one with about 1TB of space, but how to I initialize it once I physically install it, and will I lose the basic programs, such as safari, iLife, iPhoto, etc? I know I'll lose the loaded data such as pics and music. I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to the macs.
I recently upgraded to osx lion and when I now try to use xmllint I get the following error: Wilberts-MacBook-Pro:mess-trunk wilbert$ xmllint Launch of "xmllint" failed: the PowerPC architecture is no longer supported. Wilberts-MacBook-Pro:mess-trunk wilbert$ which xmllint /opt/local/bin/xmllint How do I fix this?
I recently had to reset the region on my DVD to watch a film I bought from Amazon. When I changed to region 1 I was warned I could only change the setting one more time after that. Later I attempted to change the setting back to Region 2 as all my other films are on this region. The warning came up again "this is the last time you can change this setting". That was fine because I had no intention of changing it back to region 1. But as I tried to change the setting it gave me an error message 'error: -70001' What does this mean? I still have one chance to change my settings back according to the system as agreed but it wont let me. What can I do? I havent used up all my chances and yet I now cant watch any of my DVD's.
When the program is installing it stops at 97% and says error, "please close the following programs: safari" so i close them and the same thing happens. even though i have closed safari this error still occurs and i can't finish my installation.
I have a macbook pro 13". Have been trying to download adobe flash player but repeatedly have the same error. towards the end of the process i am told to quit safari though i already have. this has happened multiple times. I've followed all the steps but have difficulty. i have been downloading from the adobe website.
I downloaded Adobe Shockwave Player, but when trying to launch a downloaded Shockwave game, it opens a DOS dialog box as a text file instead. I have just purchased a new iMac from being a lifelong Windows user.Â

This might be a coincidence but I set up a new 2Tb Time Capsule today and assumed all was working as planned. I setup Time Machine to refer to the Time Capsule drive and the backups have been performed in keeping with the schedule etc. My issue is that for some reason the Disk Utility doesn't display. The icon will bob in the dock and then after that nothing happens. Like I said, coincidence? Latest OS X Lion 10.7.4 with one External HD attached and working as expected. In fact I used the Disk Utility only two days ago to format said external drive.Â
After re-installing the latest SN update to fix a M$ Office glitch, now my puter cannot access my yahoo mail. I can through a, yuk, PC. Neither Safari nor Firefox work. Â
I am receiving an error 5.5.4 "Invalid Email address error code 17099 indicating that mail could not be sent for Account name: "Msn". I have recently moved from a PC laptop and have been sent email messages to this account on my iMac successfully for several weeks. The email address in question is actively sending and receiving messages. I can receive email from that account.
I downloaded steam to my iMac and every time I load it it crashes and I get the option to reopen it, when I do It happens again. I have tried 30 times and to no avail, restarted twice and turned of and on 3 times makes no difference.
On MacBook Pro Retina, running, OS X 10.9.3, this problem recently started to occur:Â
Upon launching Apple Mail. the InBox will briefly display the messages in the mailbox, then clear the messges and reload from the mail server. Depending on the number of messages in the Inbox, this can take some time.Â
This only occurs if an internet connection is available. Otherwise, the mail stays put.Â
I have tried deleting and recreating both the mail server mailbox and the Apple Mail account (not at the same time), without success.Â
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)
