Intel Mac :: Cannot Open Scanner Driver Running OS X 10.6.8 - Canosan 5200f
Apr 28, 2012
I have had problems today when I am trying to scan with my canosan 5200f it keeps saying can't open the driver but I have use it before and it worked ok so I redownloaded the driver today and ran the installation which rebooted but still says can't open the driver.
I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.I am using Mac OS 10.6. Any suggestions greatly received. I have repaired/disk and permissions and it still does not work.
a new epson v600 scanner will not communicate with my iMac running OS X 10.8 - get the blinking yellow error light. Epson says the scanner is fine. I have updated all Apple software, incl. Epson drivers.Â
I have a Canoscan 4400F which is not recognised by my MBP (early 2008) or my iMac (early 2007). (Error message is 'Unable to find driver'.) Despite installing various drivers which are supposed to be Leopard compatible, no luck so far.
Does anyone know of a driver which will work, or alternatively if I have to replace, a recommend a reasonably priced scanner which is Leopard compatible. Scanner will primarily be used for scanning documents for archiving and old photo prints for adding to iPhoto.
This scanner was able to scan 3D objects as if they were photographed professionally, if you put a colored cloth behind the object. Great depth of field. Used to have one, I just bought several of them, I have a beige G3, but I have no software/driver. Where to go?
I have just purchased a Macbook Air and would like to use it with my Fujitsu fi6110 scanner. Fujitsu does not have a driver for this scanner so I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Fujitsu suggested asking Apple or trying ScanTango. They have a program that is compatible with the scanner for $99 but it is not as good (to me) as Adobe scan program on my PC.
I checked on the printer and scanner page that Lion supports my old Epson Perfection 2450 scanner. [URL]. Lion cannot seem to recognize my scanner, I have tried everything. Is there a way to redownload the driver but not through Software Update? There seems to be no update for Epson driver after installing Lion.
It is, when I go to the instructions to uninstall HP scanner I get this: You can't open the application HP Uninstaller because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
I just purchased a used Epson 3170 Perfection Photo Scanner. When I try to use Image Capture, the software recognizes the scanner as a device. But I get the message "Failed to open a session on the device."
Note: From the Epson site, I downloaded an Epson ICA Driver v5.2.6 for Image Capture because "This driver corrects possible issues when using Apple's Image Capture utility with an Epson scanner."
how to get the scanner on a Canon MP800 scanner/printer to scan with Lion software. I've installed the Canon Version 3.0.4 driver but it still doesn't work.
Info: iMac (24-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I have a HP Photosmart B110 printer/scanner and I'm running OSX 10.7 Lion, I have no dramas printing but the scanner is not recognised. If I go to System preferences> Print & Scan, it shows the printer but won't show the scanner!! I obviously want and need to use the scanner but am unable!
I recently got a Macbook Pro and decided to put windows on it. The installation went fine I formatted it with FAT, and now I have to install the drivers. Since I dont have a CD I downloaded the 2.1 BC Drivers from the apple website and put it into my windows, but now when I got to open the drivers in windows it simply does nothing no matter what I try. Did I do something wrong or did I simply forget something
I have a Canon MF4350d printer scanner. I have talked with Canon about the large document size that the scanner gives. They can't make file smaller. I scanned one page at 300 dpi and the file is 1.5mb. I need to have 35 pages at 2mb or less to send in emails.Â
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Printer is Canon MF4350d
I need to find a good scanner / printer for an Intel MAC for my COO, laser if possible but not necessary. I'm more interested in something that has scanning software or can be used by Adobe Acrobat to scan PDF's etc. Something that won't need all kinds of third party to actually use the scanner.
Lion does not recognized HP Scanner. Lion initially recognized the scanner and it worked perfectly for months. All of a sudden communications with the scanner stopped. I have checked the USB cable and it is working properly. I am using Bootcamp and when I boot in Windows the scanner and computer (iMac) work perfectly. I have downloaded, removed and reinstalled the HP software and update for Lion. When I go into System Preferences > Print/Scan, It sees all other printers and scanners including another HP printer scanner.
I have a Canon MP460 connected to my iMAC however I am unable to scan. I can print perfectly and would like the scan capability to work. How do I get the scan to work?Â
I upgraded my iMac to a dual drive (SSD and HD) model running 10.7.3. Everything worked fine on the single drive machine. I went through troubleshooting with their tech and they decided to send me a new scanner. I have the same problem again. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything. The scanner shows up in the System Preferences scanner list. If I go to "open scanner" in that window it gets hung up and just spins.
I have a 21" i3 3.06 Ghz iMac. I got it in 2011 and the warranty has expired.Â
Anyway, I notice that every few months after clean installing Snow Leopard, my hard drive would be come corrupt necessitating a complete reinstall of SL again.
This occurs every few months. The OS is up to date, no malware, no weird software of anything installed. Basically, everytime I boot up, it'd take about 5-10 minutes as it does the gray screen with the spinning wheel with a progress bar at the bottom of the screen.Â
I have tried repairing permissions and scanning for errors using disk utilities within SL and via my SL install disc. However, I am unable to repair disk because it is corrupted.Â
Is there any other HDD scanning tools that I can use to see whether or not my hard drive is defective?Â

I have just upgraded to OS mavericks. My Canon MP550 printer, scanner worked fine on the old Mac. However, with the new Mac the printer works but the scanner doesn't. What should I do to make it work?
On my iMac with 10.10.1 I updated all of the scanner and printer software drivers. Now I can scan a document or photo and produce a file that cannot be opened because "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize.". Or "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize." I am using a Canon MX 920 printer/scanner. The scanner works ok with MS 8.1 on my wife's HP.
I've had an iMac for just about a year and over time I guess I just didn't notice but the machine always ran very quietly. At the same time the back of the computer would heat up so bad that it would nearly burn my hand if I left it there. Well last week I decided to upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard and when I did the install failed and froze up the hard drive. I took the computer in to the apple store and they determined that it had to have a new hard drive installed because the old one (only a year old) had a physical malfunction (was broke). So anyway I have my iMac back and get it started up, backed up from time machine, and then finally get Lion istalled - and now all of the sudden I notice that the fans in the computer are CONSTANTLY blowing - I can hear them spinning and can hear the air venting out of the back of the computer - and the computer is STILL really hot on the backside of the screen. Â
So now I am wondering if the originial problem was the computer heating up and if that may have broken the otherwise good hard drive? Also now that I have a new hard drive - should I be concerned about the fans being on ALL the time? I mean they never go off. Even when I leave the computer for hours and come back to it and the screen is asleep the fans are STILL buzzing away at top speed. Here is the stats on the computer at the time that I'm typing this note - there are no other programs running than Firefox and Mail. Also - I don't know what the optical drive is exaclty - but if it's the DVD drive (superdrive) - there is nothing in the DVD disc driveÂ
