Software :: Epson Scanner - Failed To Open Session On Device
Jul 27, 2010I just purchased a used Epson 3170 Perfection Photo Scanner. When I try to use Image Capture, the software recognizes the scanner as a device. But I get the message "Failed to open a session on the device."
Note: From the Epson site, I downloaded an Epson ICA Driver v5.2.6 for Image Capture because "This driver corrects possible issues when using Apple's Image Capture utility with an Epson scanner."

May 21, 2012I recently bought a Hp OfficeJet pro 8600 plus printer and have set it up fine on my desktop pc. When I went to install it on my MacBook it wont let me set it wirelessly because it states that The wireless network settings were successfully downloaded to your device. However, your Mac was unable to locate the device on the network.
Please make sure that:
- Your Mac is connected to a wired or wireless network that has access to your device.
- Your device is connected to the wireless network "home".
Click "Retry" to attempt to connect again using the current settings. Click "Go Back" to enter different settings. The weird part is that everything is set up fine as far as the printer it seems that the mac doesn't want to cooperate. I am running OS X Lion with the newest downloads and updated.

Feb 26, 2012Most of my attempted fixes use only my MacBook, OS X 10.7.3 (current Lion), iTunes is 10.5.3(3) 64-bit (current version). Phone is AT&T 4S, 16 GB v. 5.0.1 (9A406, current version).I have used iCloud match on this phone, but now have it shut off. When I use iTunes to view the music on the iPhone, I see 1864 songs. iTunes sees this as 1864 items, 5 days, zero bytes). All are streams. All are greyed out. I can't delete them. I can't overwrite them becuase I can't sync. Â
This problem is on every computer I have tried. 4 different computers, all running either Lion, Snow Leopard, Windows 746x or Windows 8. Dec 4, 2014New iMac and Yosemite -I can't get my Canon scanner to behave nicely. It's an 8800F. I have installed the latest Canon drivers (today) and MP-Navigator and I can at least scan OK. But I would like to be able to scan directly within applications (as I was able to on my old OSX 10.6 system), ie, by selecting the scanner as a device within the application.Â
But the scanner does not show as a device in applications, or within Image Capture.Â

Jun 20, 2014I was having problems with the external drive where I store my Time Machine backups, so I tried plugging and unplugging the drive but could not mount the drive. I ran Disk Utility and tried to verify the disk, which told me the disk needed to be repaired. I tried to repair the disk only to get an error message that Disk Utility could not repair the disk and it needed to be reformatted. So I tried to erase the disk with Disk Utility only to get the error message "Volume erase failed: Media kit reports not enough space on this device for requested operation". I am not sure what else to try at this point and could not find any similar questions here. Â
The drive in question is a 3TB USB Seagate Backup + Desk Media, formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). It's divided into two partitions, one of which (2.2 TB) holds only Time Machine backups of my desktop and laptop and the other of which (800GB) is formatted similarly with some files stored on it. I was able to verify and repair this other partition. I'm running Disk Utility 13 on an iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running OSX 10.8.5Â ...

Jun 6, 2014I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…
