IMac (Intel) :: Scanner Producing Document That Cannot Be Opened
Dec 11, 2014
On my iMac with 10.10.1 I updated all of the scanner and printer software drivers. Now I can scan a document or photo and produce a file that cannot be opened because "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize.". Or "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize." I am using a Canon MX 920 printer/scanner. The scanner works ok with MS 8.1 on my wife's HP.
I have the latest adobe reader installed . I went to look at my property tax assessment file . I entered my assessment # and pin # and got report . It downloaded as a pdf.html file . When I tried to open the report all i got was a page of garbage numbers letters symbols . The tax site said I needed safari and adobe reader to be able to view the report . Anyone have any ideas why it does not format in a readable page . My daughter has an apple with snow leopard and she gets the same result for her report this is some of what i see
They show a blank space for all the accented vowels. If I open the same document with Safari, it's the same. But with Chrome, it works perfectly.
I assume there's a problem with fonts, but, nothing wrong with fontbook (checked duplicates for instance).
Last information : it looks ok within chrome on my Imac, but the issue comes back when I try to print from chrome app...the accents are gone on the sheet.

i recently noticed that on some websites the font is different from default idk how it changed or if i did or somehow, but i want to put it back to default

its not only on websites, but on the mac itself i opened a document in textedit and it still showed the odd font, it has to be a problem on the mac
I just download Flip4Mac WMV Pro ($29) from Telestream and my .wmv videos still won't play. The pop-up says "The document “vid01.wmv” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available." What's a codec?
I just bought me a brand new Canon DR-2020U, but to my dismay, I noticed that it doesn't have OS X drivers, and OS X doesn't even flinch when I connect the scanner to it.
I googled for drivers, but the official site does not say anything about those drivers. I have, of course, the Windows drivers and I can operate it through Parallels, but I feel a little stupid for paying $700 for a scanner which does not have necessary drivers to operato on my OS X.
I have taken movies on a normal video camera and have uploaded the clips to my mac (Lion).I can not watch them.the following message is appearing "The document “M2U002.MPG” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.

I recently moved all my fcpx projects/events to a new Harddrive - I thought I did this correctly by copying/duplicating all projects/events from within FCPX.
When I last used FCPX all the projects/events were there - no issues. Also, when I look at package contents - everything is still there in terms of events and file sizes.
All the library files are on an external hard drive, on an encrypted disk image. Now a week later I have tried to open FCPX and I get the following error
"The document “MND_Z_FCPX” could not be opened. Read-only file system" and nothing will open.
Have checked permissions - these all seem in order. OSX is10.9.5
I have just upgraded to OS mavericks. My Canon MP550 printer, scanner worked fine on the old Mac. However, with the new Mac the printer works but the scanner doesn't. What should I do to make it work?
I shut down my computer and when I turned it on I tried to launch Safari. I got the following message. The application Safari can't be opened. I checked the application in Finder, but could discover anything since it again couldn't launch therefore I couldn't access system preferences. My internet connection is fine. My software is completely up to date. Yosemite 10.10.1.

Whenever I want to open an image or document on my external display, it is displayed on the primary display (the MBP one). It's annoying, the image or document should open on the display from where it was double-clicked.
I have a refurbished iMac. Everything was perfect after I noticed that if I don't move any given window, it will leave a shadow on the screen like this: [URL] ....
a new epson v600 scanner will not communicate with my iMac running OS X 10.8 - get the blinking yellow error light. Epson says the scanner is fine. I have updated all Apple software, incl. Epson drivers.
When in an opened safari page my mouse is freezing i can move it freely around page but can not click on any item. I can not even go to the quit option to get out of page???
When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )
Error message when I try to print: unsupported document-format"application/vnd.cups-command". I recently had my hard drive replaced in my early 2010 21" iMac.
how to get the scanner on a Canon MP800 scanner/printer to scan with Lion software. I've installed the Canon Version 3.0.4 driver but it still doesn't work.

I have a HP Photosmart B110 printer/scanner and I'm running OSX 10.7 Lion, I have no dramas printing but the scanner is not recognised. If I go to System preferences> Print & Scan, it shows the printer but won't show the scanner!! I obviously want and need to use the scanner but am unable!
I have a Canon MF4350d printer scanner. I have talked with Canon about the large document size that the scanner gives. They can't make file smaller. I scanned one page at 300 dpi and the file is 1.5mb. I need to have 35 pages at 2mb or less to send in emails.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Printer is Canon MF4350d
I need to find a good scanner / printer for an Intel MAC for my COO, laser if possible but not necessary. I'm more interested in something that has scanning software or can be used by Adobe Acrobat to scan PDF's etc. Something that won't need all kinds of third party to actually use the scanner.
Lion does not recognized HP Scanner. Lion initially recognized the scanner and it worked perfectly for months. All of a sudden communications with the scanner stopped. I have checked the USB cable and it is working properly. I am using Bootcamp and when I boot in Windows the scanner and computer (iMac) work perfectly. I have downloaded, removed and reinstalled the HP software and update for Lion. When I go into System Preferences > Print/Scan, It sees all other printers and scanners including another HP printer scanner.
My OS 10.6.1 started to show duplicate mail messages (Exchange mail account). Also, the "SENT" ( Exchange account folder) is empty in spite of many sent emails!
