a new epson v600 scanner will not communicate with my iMac running OS X 10.8 - get the blinking yellow error light. Epson says the scanner is fine. I have updated all Apple software, incl. Epson drivers.Â
View 5 RepliesI've been having some issues with one of my Airport Express units, the one the modem's connected to. I've been on the phone with Apple a few times, and have had my MacBook (brand new) checked out for antenna issues by a Genius. All is well. I've tried resets of all sorts on the Express, and what happens is that in the mornings the main Express is blinking yellow. This morning nothing--not any kind of reset--would change that. is it time for a new Express?

I got an Airport express and for the first couple of months i've been fin and learning how to use it.
I set it up so i have 2 profile settings....
one of them is my home setting that takes the express and connects it to my currently working network and extends it wirelessly.
the second setting takes it and disables internet and sets up a wireless network to connect and pay air tunes.
Now every time i take the express past the reach of the home network it just freezes in the yellow blinking sate and wont let me find it with the airport utility.
Now i have the second profile set up for it to work, but the problem is that it wont let me connect to it to change it, so it just keeps blinking forever... untill i bring it back into the range of my home network.
Has anyone been able to get their Epson scanner to open in Photo Shop CS3? I can open the scanner only from the Epson Scan utility.
CS3 on my desktop (Dual G4 MDD) will allow me to open the scanner directly in the File/Import menu of Photoshop with Twain.Â

I have a Epson Perfection 636u scanner from 1999 and am thinking of getting a new iMac. On the Epson support page, it lists the newest driver from 1999 and says that it will work on Macintosh system 7.5 to 8.6. (here is a link http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...s&platform=All). Any chance of this working on Tiger? I don't see myself buying a new scanner because I use it just a few times per year.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI reattached my Epson Perfection 1650 Photo scanner to my Mac G4 (Sawtooth) desktop today after updating the drivers and all to OS 10.4, which is what is on my computer. (The updated drivers also work for 10.5, which is on my laptop, but that doesn't matter here.) When I hit the Smart Panel icon on the desktop, the computer went to Classic mode, for some reason, even though the updated software is for OS X. I was able to get a Twain window, but when I clicked on any of the options for scanning, I get a message saying that the scanner is not recognized (something about a bus). I looked at all the available FAQs at the Epson Web site, but they are not helpful or relevant. For example, one told me to turn off Scan Monitor in Extensions, but of course, there is no Extensions Folder in OS X. One other FAQ suggested reinstalling the software that came with the scanner, but that was way back when I used OS 9.2.2, so how could I then bring it up to 10.4?
Most of the other FAQs were for people with Windows, so of course, those didn't help at all. The Ready light is on; all the cables are plugged in properly. I'm ready, willing, and able. I can't get Epson support, because the scanner is out of warranty, and the Epson online helpers (private) want a good deal of money to provide an answer. Granted, I don't have to pay them unless I am not satisfied with the answer, but I'd rather not have to sell the farm, when I could get a new scanner for only about twice what they are asking to give me an answer. OR (breathlessly hoping) if I can get some ideas here. I have a lot of pages to copy and send to someone, and now I'll have to copy them manually at the local store or across town, at my mother's, and then send them through the mail. It all seemed so straightforward and simple: scan and send to the eager recipient.

I downloaded the driver for Mac OS X 10.7 but I continue to get the message "Cannot communicate with the scanner. Make sure the scanner is on, correctly setup and connected with no errors in the scanner. If using an SCSI connection, restart your computer."Â
I have connected the scanner with USB and then with Fire wire and then both. I have deleted and redownloaded the driver files. I could not get communication. Can anyone help. The scanner and iMac are too large to drag to a genius bar. Â

I just purchased a used Epson 3170 Perfection Photo Scanner. When I try to use Image Capture, the software recognizes the scanner as a device. But I get the message "Failed to open a session on the device."
Note: From the Epson site, I downloaded an Epson ICA Driver v5.2.6 for Image Capture because "This driver corrects possible issues when using Apple's Image Capture utility with an Epson scanner."
I have an Epson Perfection v500 scanner and am having problems getting the Image Capture app to recognize it. I noticed that the light no longer blinks when it is on sleep. I recently upgraded my internal HD and have no idea if that could have caused it or not. I guess, since my Mac is three years old, there is also the possibility that the light just got old and went out.

1) I havent used my mac pro for a couple of weeks
2) I switch it on 5 mins ago and it boots fine, I log in and launch safari from the dock.
3) Computer freezes, mouse doesn't move, complete unresponsive.
4) I push power button for a few seconds to force a shut down.
5) I power up.
6) boots fine, after surfing the web for a few mins, MP just reboots, no warning, screen just goes black and the fans and chime kick in.
7) doesn't get to log in screen, instead it reboots itself, fans and chimes kick in
8) doesn't like it, computer shuts down, front panel light blinking at 1/2 second intervals.
Wondering if the yellow, charging light, sometimes coming on and going off is an indication of my battery going dead. Mine is a UMBP and the battery hasn't been change. Don't use it too much, though.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a relatively new Mac user. In fact, I haven't had that much experience at all. I work in a donations store and today we got a donation of an iMac. I searched around a bit and I'm sure it's a G5 model. It looks like [URL]. It looks to be in great condition, no scratches, not even a fingerprint on the monitor.
However, when I turned it on, after plugging the power chord in, I started experiencing problems. The fans kicked on and I heard the chime (I assume that was a post?) but I was getting no video and the white LED on the front of the screen was flashing on and off. The exact pattern is strange - I don't think I've see it before. It flashes once, then stops, then flashes again, then stops. Over and over. No sequence. :| The computer did not come with a keyboard or a mouse. I was testing it to see if it actually worked, before I bought the keyboard and the mouse, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with that? I'm not really sure.

I have the new 2.4 GHz MacBook model since last Thursday, and something throws me off a little bit.
When I close the lid, putting the MacBook to sleep, I can still hear the inner workings (fan, maybe hdd) of the laptop for a while. And the light doesn't blink softly and slow like it did on the iBook.
As I come from the iBook, I was used to wait one to ten seconds to get it to sleep after the lid was closed, and the blinking light showed me it was asleep. But the MacBook's doesn't.
Is that normal?
PS: I made two tests. It took 28 seconds until the light started pulsing, shortly after the fan stopped spinning and the hard drive reading/writing head (?) stopped in its safe position.
I was trying to set up my airport extreme with my internet when I couldn't get anywhere because of the blinking yellow light. I have a 2wire at&t router that i connected with to the airport extreme via ethernet(the port in the back has a green light btw). I tried scanning for the airport extreme with airport utility but it couldn't find anything.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI had modem/router, which I got from the phone company here. It wasn't working that great, so I decided to order a Netgear modem and an Apple Airport Extreme. I got the Netgear modem to get me on the web, and the ethernet connection light stayed on, but when I connect it to my AE, that ethernet light goes off and the AE is constantly blinking. I reset the modem, and still nothing. I then reset the AE, and still the same thing. And when I try to connect my MB and iMac wirelessly to the AE, it tells me there are no apple devices present, and to retry.
