Looking at the Apple online store, the 24" Apple Cinema Display comes with:What's in the Box * LED Cinema Display* AC power cord* Cleaning cloth* Printed documentation So, my question is, do you have to buy the actual connector cable separate, or is it permanently attached to the display? Today during High School, my first period, I noticed a Mac iBook G4 in the recycle pile used by my schools Tech department. I decided to swoop it up and give it a whirl, and see for myself what the problem with it was.
When I first powered it on, I was receiving a scrambled signal on my display. It was merely a white screen with lines in it, after a while of tinkering, even grabbing a few mac knowledgeable buddies of mine to see if they could do anything. It seemed like this would drag on, and I would not fix it.
In the end, we ended up tapping the screen and seeing a faint hope of light, that light was the appearance of the desktop! Unfortunately, the screen soon vanished back into it's scrambled state. Upon further tapping, we could only figure it was a problem with the connection of the display to the logic board.
So I was swapping some hard drives around in my 12-hour old 15" June Unibody MBP and apparently I broke the hard drive cable. More like I tore 3/4s than broke it. Thankfully I was installing a SSD into the optical drive so I'm still up and running, I just don't have the stock HDD in there as a data drive.
I saw something on eBay for around $50 - I'll have to open the MBP back up and see precisely what the cable looks like - I'm wondering if there's a store that'll have the piece I require? I'd prefer to not take it to an Apple store and have them void my warranty because the HDD isn't user-serviceable part.
I only have an 8800 GT which requires 1 cable, will the HD4890 be flashable in OS X with only 1 power cord attached? I tried to search the original 3000 post thread but there were many pages of results for "power".

When I start up a dialog shows up saying the cables are not connected, when in fact they are (I have double and triple checked). Also when I put the computer to sleep then wake it up a weird distorted blocky pattern appears and I have to restart the computer to fix the problem.

Was thinking about accessories for my MBP and I was thinking about the display port. What I want to do is when on vacations plug my MBP into the TV and show the pictures I took. I know Apple used to give them to you for free when you got a new MacBook or MacBook Pro. But since most were wasted, they stopped. So now, if you call Apple Support or whatever, can you get one for free per request? I really don't want to pay $30 for this little cable.

It didnt bother me that much, so I just dealt with it. However, today I was plugging my external speakers in, and when the connector was about half way in.. I started to hear audio that I knew wasnt on my computer. Turns out it was commentary on a college basketball game. I started to listen some more, and discovered that it was 1530am. Seeing as I use just a standard set of 5.1 computer speakers... I found this to be extremely odd, so I figured id share this with everyone.

When I close the display of my Mac Book or MacBookPro, the external monitor such as my 50" Plasma monitor or video projector would go black. I read the Help and it said and required the USB Mouse and Keyboard to close the Macbook display and put computer sleep. My question is will the Apple blue tooth or wireless keyboard and mice will work with out using the USB? Has any one try that? I am not sure if I should buy wired or wireless to operate this.

I'm doing photo work, and if I'm correct, LR2 can utilize the card's VRAM.
Seems to me, because of this I would be better off on two seperate cards, to allocate more VRAM to each monitor.

I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.This is temporary until the new iMac is released.Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

How can i connect macbook air (current model) to a external display? I have a view sonic display that claims to be mac compatible. It came with a USB cable. But when i hook it up, it shows no activity. In system preference, i hit detect display, doesn't seem to do anything.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Macbook Pro and a Thunderbolt display. It appears when I plug my Macbook Pro in with the power adapter directly to an outlet, it charges fine. However, if I use the charger on my Thunderbolt display cable, the status reads "Not Charging"... sometimes. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it appears to toggle between charging and not charging. Is this a known issue with Macbook and Thunderbolt? I assume it should always be charging if it's plugged in and the battery is low.Â

I checked out monoprice, but I couldn't find it. I wanted to wall mount the display to clear up some more desk space, in addition to make it easier to adjust the monitor.
