I want to hook up a second display to my new intel imac--what cable do i need to use?? I have bought 4 now and they are not the right ones. I am trying to connect a 17 inch apple LCD display as a secondary screen for my imac. my goal is to use the imac for vocal recordings ( already set) and the 17 inch for script reading in my vocal booth.

I want to buy the 27" iMac - but only if I can use it as external monitor for my Lenovo laptop when working from home. A the Apple store in London they said that this is possible with a Belkin converter from hdmi to mini display port (with a USB power caple to turn it into an active signal). The laptop also has a displayport.

I just brought a brand new IMac today but could not connect the internet with the cable though the cable does work with other computers. Do I have to change the settings or .....? Or its the problem of the jack?

How can i connect macbook air (current model) to a external display? I have a view sonic display that claims to be mac compatible. It came with a USB cable. But when i hook it up, it shows no activity. In system preference, i hit detect display, doesn't seem to do anything.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Macbook Pro and a Thunderbolt display. It appears when I plug my Macbook Pro in with the power adapter directly to an outlet, it charges fine. However, if I use the charger on my Thunderbolt display cable, the status reads "Not Charging"... sometimes. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it appears to toggle between charging and not charging. Is this a known issue with Macbook and Thunderbolt? I assume it should always be charging if it's plugged in and the battery is low.

I checked out monoprice, but I couldn't find it. I wanted to wall mount the display to clear up some more desk space, in addition to make it easier to adjust the monitor. But I need a longer cable to be able to run it through the wall and still connect it to my MBP.If anyone can point me in the right direction

I just got the mini display to hdmi cable for my macbook pro. So far it works with the tv. It displays everything but there is one probably safari doest work.
Airport shows that I am connected but safari doesnt connect.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a presentation tomorrow and need to hook up my MBP to the projector in class. I bought an Apple Mini Displayport to DVI cable, and a DVI to DVI cable. I thought this would be the case, but come to find out the system does not support DVI. So I had to run to Best buy to get a DVI to VGA cable. I tried out the MDP > DVI > VGA rig on my external monitor and got nothing. The screen on my MBP responded by turning blue for a second and then back to normal...but the monitor said "No Signal". Is this some jargon with DVI-D and DVI-I? I need to know by tomorrow morning if I have to run back to the Apple Store and get a Mini Displayport to VGA cable.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptor with the intent of connecting my TV (with DVI-in) to my MacBook in order to use front row (and plex) for films.
However when I got home, I found that the DVI female of the adaptor does not match up (or successfully connect) to the DVI male of the cable. Have I done something foolish, but it seems that there are pins on the male that do not have a corresponding socket?
I have attached an image to try and help out...
Should I just give up and seek out a VGA instead?
I recently received a late 2007 mac mini as a hand me down from my parents and I'm trying to hook it up to a Sony HDTV via HDMI to DVI cable. I bought the cables I needed and attempted to set it up, however when I turn on the system nothing appears on the display. I've been searching posts and various forums, but haven't really made any progress because most troubleshooting guides are focused upon display problems like pixels and refreshes.
Unfortunately I don't have a VGA monitor to use (which is what the mini was previously used on) to try and see if that works.
I have a new Macbook Air 13", 4GB RAM, 2.13Ghz, 256GB SSD.
I'm connecting the Macbook with the Apple Mini Displayport to DVI connector to a DVI cable to a Dell 2407 monitor with a resolution of 1920x1200. The resulting image is blurry. The fonts are blurry and drop shadows on the screen flicker quite badly. The resolution on my Macbook is indeed set to 1920x1200 to match my Dell 2407.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is the problem with the Mini Displayport to DVI adapter?
I know for a fact that the Dell LCD and the DVI cable work fine with my Windows 7 box. I have tried two different DVI cables as well.
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.

I back up the iMac to a three year old OWC 500GB external HD with ultra ATA drive. I was backing up the MBP to a similar device. Both machines connected via USB 2 cable. I use CCC to perform backups.
I recently got a new WD My Book 2TB external device that is USB 3. I use it to backup the newer MBP. I have noticed that the backup takes longer with the new drive. I didn't expect the new drive to take longer. Is there some overhead when using a USB 3 device to a USB 2 machine that causes backups to take longer than with a USB 2 Ext. HD?

I was wondering how I could file share, or make the whole Hard Drive (HDD) accessible to another computer. The two other computers I have are a Toshiba Laptop with Ethernet and USB, and a iMac Intel with Firewire, USB, and Ethernet. Putting these to use along with:Three Ethernet Cables Now how do I get the whole HDD visible to the others computers (either/both) and be able to write to it? Also, I do not want to use CDs and have no CDs that came with the computers. I want to put Xubuntu on the eMac and Debian on the iMacs and erase the rest of the Hard Drives. The computers getting this are the iMac G3s and the eMac G4 in my Signature.

I have multiple problems: a. When I connect a cable to the internet, i am unable to directly login to the internet. I need to go the ISP site, login and then it connects me. I have tried to create some network connections which are not letting me connect directly without requiring a password. PLease note that I have provided the login id and password in the network preferences and created it but unable to login in.
b. Please also let me know how to delete all prior network settings.
I am new to apple and hence only capable of system menu driven capabilities.
More queries later as i set up my wireless.
