I just downloaded the new Yahoo 3.0 for the mac with the VOIP feature, and it is awesome. I downloaded a phone number and for 1 penny a minute can call practically anywhere. And for $2.49 a month, I can receive calls too. I am about to get an ipod touch...and was wondering if anyone knows if it is compatible with yahoo voice? I know the touch doesn't have a mic...but perhaps there is a way around this with a headset? Even if you can't talk...can you use yahoo instant messenger and check voicemails? I know the app store opens soon...yahoo should definitely do something about this if not.
just this last few days, my mac battery has gone from 6+ hours of battery capacity on full charge to now BARELY 2 hours on full charge.i have already tried to configure my battery (drain, leave for 5 hours, charge for a full cycle)not sure what's going on... anyone encounter this problem.is there anything i can or should i try bringing it back to the apple store?
I lately have been testing out the Safari 4 Beta. It's speed alone was good enough to get me to think of switching back from Firefox. I did, however, find myself missing a few features I had come to depend on with Firefox.
There are two free extensions out there, though, that have made Safari my full-time browser.
First is SafariBlock. Instead of being some obscure adblocking extension that requires custom filters, it's an extension of the AdBlock for Firefox add-on. It allows for list subscription and automatic updating, and has made browsing the web as ad-free in Safari as it was in Firefox. Check.
The second is Glims which is a fairly new add-on to the scene, but has shot straight to the top of my list of best Safari add-ons. It replicates almost all the features I missed from Firefox.
i jsut download ventrilo and i was just wondering if you could do anything on the app so you can call a land line or mobile phone? and if so, what information do i have to put in and were to make it possible?
Basically, i have never had a headset before and would like one to use for skype.
if i have a 12 inch g4 1.3 ghz powerbook, do i have any options other than blue tooth?
do they make usb ones on the cheap? what are the second 3.5mm jack on the side of my computer? i know one of them is the headphones output; what is the second one
What I find is that I start to naturally use the same headset when I'm using my MBP - just because it's often round my neck anyway.
Wouldn't it be great if I could use the MIC from the headset with the MBP as well? Then I could use it properly for iChat/Skype calls.
I'm wondering if it should be possible for someone to manufacture an adaptor that fits the special 4-contact plug on the headset, and separates off the mic part so that it creates 2 normal mini jack plugs, that could be plugged into the MBP headphone & mic sockets. Would be great. Anyone heard of such a thing?
Last month I ditched my landline as we wern't ever using it anymore. Well after doing so I remembered that my Fantasy Baseball draft is next month and we do that via a conference call as we have league members from all over the US.
Now, I could use my iPhone (and I may have to) but we all know all the iPhone has some issues with dropped calls from time to time.
So I was wondering if there anything on the market that would allow me make calls via VOIP on my Mac? Ideally free or even a 30 day free trail.
headset mic with excellent audio quality for VoiP and listening to music? I currently use a set of Sennheiser PX100s and a desktop mic and would like to consolidate.
I have a router in one room that sends out a wireless signal. I want my time capsule to join that network and share the internet connection through the ethernet ports on the back. This way, I can hook up a voip phone in another room. Is this possible and how would you go about setting it up.
I cant log into my yahoo and hotmail mail account after the recent updates done for my Tiger 10.4.11. I can get into the [URL] page, but after writing my username/pass it wont enter! Anyone facing similar problems?
google and yahoo wont load. all other websites work fine except for these two.
I experience this problem in all browsers: Firefox 3.5b4, Firefox 3.5, Safari beta. It just happened randomly. I've tried rebooting and dissabling all add-ons in firefox.
I just noticed that the Yahoo! homepage looks different. But when i use Safari then its the normal look. I'm going to post a screenshot. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some option to change? Is it only me?
Since I updated to 10.5.7 Yahoo IM crashes after a minute of being open. Is anyone else having this issue? I uninstalled it and deleted all associated files and reinstalled, but same issues continue.
Does it exist... i would like to sync folders on my mac and memorystick, and the briefcase feature let me do that simplily (although it was rather buggy in xp)
I have a new iMac with Snow Leopard and do not have the following problem with my MBP using Leopard nor have I been able to duplicate this problem on new iMacs at the Apple Store.
Normally on other computers, the Yahoo Mail email header is at the top of the screen, the view pane is at the bottom of the screen and when I double click the email header, the entire email fills the screen in a new tab.
On this new iMac, double clicking the header does nothing; the email stays split on the screen with the header at the top and view pane at the bottom and no new tab.
I've tried Safari, Firefox, and Chrome and the problem is unique to this iMac. Any suggestions? Is there a preference that I'm missing?
How would i go about getting the windows versions on yahoo messenger and msn on my macbook. I installed the windows version Yahoo messenger through crossover. It downloaded and installed fine but its really buggy and i cant start conversations and when i leave the mouse over contacts names instead of showing details it shows just black, and more buggy stuff. And i couldnt install windows version of msn at all.
Prefer the obvious q's appear likeWhy not use mac versions of both the software ?They complety suck i hate them
Boot camp ? I dont want to use windows but i want the windows versions of programs
I might try download a portable .exe of Both of the messengers and try them through crossover since the two .exe installers of the messengers i got were web based installers.
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I cannot add an attachment to email using Yahoo mail. Every time I select the file, Yahoo mail begins scanning and it then crashes the browser - happens with any browser and any file.
Searching around suggests there are similar problems for some users but not as pervasive.
I've been using Yahoo Messenger with Snow Leopard just fine for a while, but now all of a sudden the webcam feature does not work. When I try to invite someone to view my webcam they just see a black screen that says "Starting Webcam Session...", but it never loads. Similarly, when I try to view someone's webcam, the same thing happens on my end. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Like I said, it was working fine until a few days ago.
it appears that my AT&T Yahoo! mail account uses IMAP to push mail messages to my iPhone. However, every time I try and set up the AT&T Yahoo! mail account in the OS X Mail.app program, it sets it up as a POP account. Can I not have that set up as an IMAP account in Mail.app too!? If not, why?
I have noticed recently that the only applications/software that is working on my iBook G4 (running MacOSX 10.3.9) are: Firefox, Microsoft, certain games, but when I try iPhoto, iTunes, realplayer, safari, textedit; I just get the spinning ball and when I click on icon on the dock it says "application not responding". I have tried the disk utility and repaired permissions but still have problems. I also downloaded new version of Yahoo Messenger and other software, they load and when I try to click on the icon, nothing happens.
