Mar 9, 2009Last month I ditched my landline as we wern't ever using it anymore. Well after doing so I remembered that my Fantasy Baseball draft is next month and we do that via a conference call as we have league members from all over the US.
Now, I could use my iPhone (and I may have to) but we all know all the iPhone has some issues with dropped calls from time to time.
So I was wondering if there anything on the market that would allow me make calls via VOIP on my Mac? Ideally free or even a 30 day free trail.

Sep 5, 2003Anyone know of an IM that is compatible with MSN Messenger that has Voice over I.P. capabilities?
My family (mac users) has friends and family who are international and who use MSN for Windows for Voice over I.P.
Obviously we would like to communicate with them via voice. and MSN Messenger fot the Mac is a no go and iChat is a no go.
Right now my dad is still using OS 9 but I'll be getting him and iMac or eMac soon.

Jun 30, 2008I just downloaded the new Yahoo 3.0 for the mac with the VOIP feature, and it is awesome. I downloaded a phone number and for 1 penny a minute can call practically anywhere. And for $2.49 a month, I can receive calls too. I am about to get an ipod touch...and was wondering if anyone knows if it is compatible with yahoo voice? I know the touch doesn't have a mic...but perhaps there is a way around this with a headset? Even if you can't talk...can you use yahoo instant messenger and check voicemails? I know the app store opens soon...yahoo should definitely do something about this if not.

Feb 19, 2008What I find is that I start to naturally use the same headset when I'm using my MBP - just because it's often round my neck anyway.
Wouldn't it be great if I could use the MIC from the headset with the MBP as well? Then I could use it properly for iChat/Skype calls.
I'm wondering if it should be possible for someone to manufacture an adaptor that fits the special 4-contact plug on the headset, and separates off the mic part so that it creates 2 normal mini jack plugs, that could be plugged into the MBP headphone & mic sockets. Would be great. Anyone heard of such a thing?

It's called Versions, and it's still in beta, but it seems really stable, and it's one of the best SVN clients I've ever used. I have no affiliation with the company or product at all, so this isn't a plug. I've just been using it constantly to manage some Xcode projects and a few other important documents between Macs, and I thought I'd share.

Nov 3, 2010So I was using the older CISCO VPN client and now need the CISCO Anyconnect client as well. Anyconnect would not install, it kept telling me that there was already a newer version installed already? So I thought maybe it was the older CISCO VPN client (that I will also need later) so I used APpZapper to remove it. I am still getting that error message when the installer gets to the disk selection screen.
Has anyone seen this before? I have no clue where to go from here.

Jan 7, 2011I've been using Mail.app for my gmail accounts for quite a while now - but it seems that Mail just isn't designed for gmail. For example - when I search for a message, each message will appear two or more times (located in Inbox & All Mail, not inc. any labels), archiving messages isn't exactly easy, and deleting messages doesn't quite.. delete messages.
Is there a way to make Mail.app more friendlier towards Gmail accounts or is there a better client for Mac for Gmail accounts?

Oct 31, 2008I have a shiny new macbook and i need a good software phone that supports either SIP or IAX (prefer both) is reliable and can record calls. It would also be nice if it has support for G729.
So far I've found ZoIPer Business, which will set me back 36GBP($58 USD). I'm a bit wary of purchasing it, as I've used ZoIPer FREE and it seems to crash sometimes (i.e. it wont cleanly exit)
I've also tried X-Lite although this also seems very buggy and havent been able to make a successful call.
Is there something someone can recommend that they've used? or should i shutup and buy ZoIPer & not complain about the price?

It's a sweet piece of work - especially for those with multiple Twitter accounts. Clean design, intuitive.
