Since I updated to 10.5.7 Yahoo IM crashes after a minute of being open. Is anyone else having this issue? I uninstalled it and deleted all associated files and reinstalled, but same issues continue.

After installing a bunch of updates; inluding iPhoto, iTunes and iMovie; the culprit seems to be the Thunderbolt thing. After the installation a message came up that none of the updates could be installed. There's only a Restart-Button — that doesn't restart the iMac. The screen has its grey login background and the Mac is stalled. About 10 minutes later I turned off the iMac and then turned it back on again. What lead to an instant Kernel Panic. I then reinstalled Lion from the Recovery HD, installed all the updates; which included two restarts that performed fine. In the final session there are the iPhoto and iMovie updates — and the Thunderbolt thing. Downloading and installing seems to work fine; but then I get the above mentioned message AGAIN.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy initial pleasure with the speed of my new-to-me Mac Pro (8 core) is turning to frustration as Lion and iPhoto get glitchier and slower with each update. Tonight, while simply saving a file in iPhoto, it crashed and took 97 seconds to reopen and stabilize (SBOD). I've seen posts as far back as early 2010 regarding iPhoto '11 being slow and unstable. Before being forced to "upgrade" my iPhoto library to accomodate the latest iPhoto update, I saved a copy, with the notion of returning to the previous iteration of iPhoto which always served me well. Has anybody tried this with Lion? I'm also considering going back to Snow Leopard.

Bought and downloaded iWork '09 March 8 from authorised Apple reseller in Hong Kong, used it for a week. loaded software onto white MacBook 13'' 2.16Gz. machine is now 7 months out of the standard 1-year warranty (meaning I've owned the machine for 1 year and 7 months). Apple Auto Update cued update for iWork '09 (Pages, Numbers) on March 13, which I authorised for it to download. Left and came back to computer, which does not turn on. Tried resetting PRAM, SRAM, doesn't work - completely crashed, light next to IR port does not turn on, battery does not charge, but power adapter lights up green when connected. Went to CASE, in Mongkok (Hong Kong), over the weekend.
3rd party service contractor of AppleCare HK, which takes care of hardware problems. The counter rep said it will cost me HK$600 (US$100) just to examine the problem because the machine is out of warranty. I kicked up a fuss. he finally gave it a cursory look, say something is wrong with logic board and says they will have to charge me HK$10,000 (US$1,200 = which equals new aluminum MacBook) to fix it. But they said i should wait to speak to a Customer Service rep on Monday to see what more could be done. So I went home, took out the hard drive and put it into an external hard drive (SATA) case. Over USB, backed up my critical user files onto another macbook. There were "stop signs" overlaid my file folder icons, I clicked on them, opened them up, transferred these files onto another external drive.
I returned original hard drive into unbootable macbook (apparently this should have fixed it), did not try to power up one last time (see below). Called up AppleCare Customer Service on Monday (see below); they were helpful. At CASE (AppleCare's 3rd party contractor), technician pushed power button and to my utter amazement, the computer turns on. screen shows the machine was just about to restart - it was stuck on Apple Update, which has just finished downloading for iWork 09. The technician says actually I am the second person to have this problem - the other person was installing updates for iLife '09. Technician also says this has never happened before iLife or iWork 09.
This started to happen a few days ago after installed a SSD drive in my Mac Mini and putting the iTunes library on my external HD.

I was recently prompted to update to 10.6 (40) version of itunes just prior to the last conference this month and since doing so now I can not watch anything in full screen mode without Itunes crashing. View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my system to 10.7.4, the flash plugin crashes in both Safari and Firefox. Videos don;t so much as start. I reverted back to 10.7.3 with time machine and flash workes fine again. Reinstalled the update, and broken again. Safari and Firefox are all up to date as well as the flash plugin. All caches have been cleared. Based on info I have gotten from this and other forums, I have checked all the settings in the flash system preferences.Â

The download was interrupted. When I ran disk check, my volume wasn' t found. So I had to delete it and (!!!!!) install OS X SL (!!!) Can I reload my purchased OS X lion? This happend right after the keynote from WWDC 2012. So APPLE wants me to buy the new MBP?I am a little bit worried now: SL installation last for an hour. And on the screen it says ".Only 30 minutes left".

I downloaded the newest version of itunes 11.4 on 9/10/14.
The update has slowed down the itunes program so that I constantly get the spinning wheel when I move around the program to various podcasts and music selections. Several times the program has crashed.Â

I have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8GB of OCZ 1333 RAM and an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD. Running 10.6 fully updated and installed from scratch.I have been getting out of the blue crashes while the system is most of the times idle. Can it be the RAM? It's reported fine as 8GB 1333 DDR under the system info. The Intel SSD runs latest firmware.

After running software-update (OS 10.5.4) and installing a few updates (iWork '08), software-update crashed when I want to look for any new updates.
I already checked permissions on HD and they are fine.
When I log-in as another user, software-update runs fine.
I'm pretty new to MAC and like it a lot so far, but this one is difficult for me to figure out.
Any suggestions??

I experience this problem in all browsers: Firefox 3.5b4, Firefox 3.5, Safari beta. It just happened randomly. I've tried rebooting and dissabling all add-ons in firefox.
I just noticed that the Yahoo! homepage looks different. But when i use Safari then its the normal look. I'm going to post a screenshot. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some option to change? Is it only me?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new iMac with Snow Leopard and do not have the following problem with my MBP using Leopard nor have I been able to duplicate this problem on new iMacs at the Apple Store.
Normally on other computers, the Yahoo Mail email header is at the top of the screen, the view pane is at the bottom of the screen and when I double click the email header, the entire email fills the screen in a new tab.
On this new iMac, double clicking the header does nothing; the email stays split on the screen with the header at the top and view pane at the bottom and no new tab.
I've tried Safari, Firefox, and Chrome and the problem is unique to this iMac. Any suggestions? Is there a preference that I'm missing?
Since Yahoo now wants us to pay for their PLUS, is there any way around this to get yahoo mail to work for send and receive?

It downloaded and installed fine but its really buggy and i cant start conversations and when i leave the mouse over contacts names instead of showing details it shows just black, and more buggy stuff. And i couldnt install windows version of msn at all.

I might try download a portable .exe of Both of the messengers and try them through crossover since the two .exe installers of the messengers i got were web based installers.
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I cannot add an attachment to email using Yahoo mail. Every time I select the file, Yahoo mail begins scanning and it then crashes the browser - happens with any browser and any file.
Searching around suggests there are similar problems for some users but not as pervasive.
I'm deciding between those two IM clients, but i can't find a list of differences.
