Whenever I scan an image (my scanner is an HP Photosmart C4480) and save it as a PNG, it scans and saves fine. However, when I open the file in Preview, it flashes up a low-quality version of the image for a split second, and then just turns black. Sometimes when zooming I can get the low-quality image to appear again, but then it just turns black again.

The only problem is I can't copy or paste the recipes because, I guess, they are not in document form. Is there any way to change the recipes in Preview to a document? Or what would be the best way to scan recipes? I need to be able to copy and paste.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis didn't happen in the past and now if I send any type of attachment from work (png or zip for instance), the attachment only appears as a winmail.dat file on both my MacBook Pro running 10.7.3 and my iPhone running iOS5.1
The important thing here is the attachment is actually being set out correctly. I know this because if I pick it up using the web interface of my mail provider, the attachments are all present and correct.
Therefore the problem lies somewhere in iOS5.1 or OS10.7.3
Recently, whenever I open a PDF file with Preview, the file opens fine, but the app itself is unresponsive. I can use shortcuts (to close the program or window, or to open other files), but when I use a mouse or trackpad I am unable to click anything in the app, even the menu bar. I can scroll through the PDF documents, but I am unable to highlight text. I have all updates, and Preview is working fine if I switch to another user. I have tried to Repair Permissions, to add my user account to the Sharing and Permissions category under the finder, and I have tried deleting the preferences file in Library to no avail.

When I try to print something from the internet, the entire print window doesn't show up. For instance, I can see the print button, cancel button, and how many pages it is. I can only see about an inch of the preview.

I recently had to switch out the hard drive on my Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro. When I got the computer back from the Apple Store I began loading my old content onto the machine. When previewing and opening files, they would appear with randomly coloured splotches of pixels on them. This continues to happen when browsing folders on my machine.
The files do not show up with splotches on other computers, and are not in the same places each time I open the file, which leads me to believe they are problems with my machine and not the files themselves.
I hypothesise this is the graphics card, but I don't know enough about the hardware.

View 22 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of PDF and other files in general that I would like to keep sorted by date. Normally in finder options I would sort them by date but the problem is that the bulk of them were added to my laptop by scanning, e mail hard drives so the creation dates of these files is not necessarily the same date as these statements. I tried naming theses files by date e.g. 10/02/12 etc but obviously this did not work as numbers are recognised in sequence and not by calender.

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I have obviously put in scanner so they tessellate and fit neatly; only I keep coming across some that are in-correct in their dates (I've arranged the folders by months). I scan the mentioned receipt/receipts then I want to move them so they fit into a page with space and tessellate with the others (wasteful and not an option to have pages with only one receipt). Already tried using the 'touch up object tool' to try to move it; which looks like will work but image is behind/ disappears. It has gotta be possible to move things onto a page, does not have capabilities/ made for purpose of photoshop but only want to move something onto a page-not unreasonable request .

I made them too big, they are 20+ megs, and I know with JPEGs one can just "flatten" the file. Can that be done with scanned docs too? If so, how? Do I need a special app for that?
