Hardware :: Canon MX850 Network Scanning Wireless?

Jan 17, 2009

Okay, new multifunction. My fiance set up the network, and I can print wirelessly. No problem. He has put it in my hands to set up the scanner function. Problems. When I connect my computer by ethernet cable to the router (also connected to the MX850), everything works as it should. When I disconnect the ethernet, the scanner doesn't recognize my computer, and the computer says that the scanner is not connected. Am I wrong in thinking that the scanner should scan wirelessly?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Printing Wirelessly To A Network Canon MX850

Jun 6, 2012

I am new to Mac. Recently I bought a Macbook Air with OS X v10.7. I have a ADSL router with the Canon printer with fixed IP 192.168.2.100. I have a wireless router connected to the ADSL router. This wirless rouer is in another subnet 192.168.3.0.My Windows 7 notebook I am able to print wirelessly to the Canon using a manual configuration (IP printing). As for the Mac, I have installed the latest Canon CUPS drivers and the Canon IJ Network Tool. I use the Canon IJ Network tool, I am not able to scan for the printer. I configure manually with the IP address such as IPP://192.168.2.100 but it still cannot print. The status of printer goes from idle to busy.

Hardware :: Fax From Mac With Canon MX850/860/7600?

Feb 27, 2009

OK, it seems that the only alternative to a huge Samsung duplex laser would be one of these printers.

But as it doesn't duplex for fax, the workaround would be to duplex scan and then send the fax from the computer.

Or as a last resort, fax from memory card or USB stick. Is it even possible to do that?

Hardware :: Using Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Printer With A Mac

Jan 9, 2009

I was looking to buy a printer. I already have a Epson Perfection Scanner ( its not the best but does the job)

Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Printer (2436B002) apparently is listed in Mac World as one of the top products in their most recent issue. I was hoping some real world people may advise me on whether its a good purchase. If you have one or know someone who does or know of a better printer post a reply.

I'm not looking to spend more than $200 on a printer. I'm also a designer so I'm looking for one that prints graphic design work decently. I have an old G5 tower and my new 13" white mackbook that I want it to work with too.

Hardware :: Printing Through XP On Wireless Network To Canon Pixma MX310?

Nov 13, 2007

Brand new iMac (my first one), sitting next to my Sony XP computer. I have a wireless network and have been able to share files between the two computers. I have all of my work information on my PC and am wanting to print to my new Canon Pixma printer which is connected to the MAC. I can "see" the printer when I go to printing preferences on my PC but when I hit print, I get an error message that says the printer if offline. I have all sharing enabled on both computers and when I go into the print queue, there is a document that is in there that it won't allow me to delete because it was "sent" by the owner "Valerie"....not sure if that is part of it or not. I guess my first question is, can I print over my wireless network through my MAC to the Canon and if I can, any idea what could be impeding me from printing?

Intel Mac :: Wireless Connection To Canon 5350?

Apr 21, 2012

Installing a new Canon 5350 on a new iMac, I have gone through the routine suggested in Apple support,  of not installing the canon driver directly, but letting the iMac find the driver, update etc.   Then tried removing the 5350 from the printer driver pane and putting it back again. The result is that the printer will print wirelessly, but when I ask it to scan (from the iMac,) it suggests that either the printer/scanner is not there, or the  USB connection is not working.  I am assuming that the scanner driver is not there, or not up to date.

Hardware :: Time Capsule Join Wireless Network/Will All Traffic Go Mac Wireless Router

Jan 5, 2011

I have just got my 1Tb time capsule and there are a lot of confusing descriptions of how to connect it.

At the moment I have just selected "join existing wireless network" which is a ADSL 2.4ghz G Router that came with my internet package (Thompson TG585 v7).

Does this mean that all traffic goes via the ADSL Router and that I will not be using the 5ghz band when I back up so that all the data will follow a path like this and have slow data rates? :

MAC --2.4ghz--> ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> TC

or will I be communicating directly with the TC at 5ghz for backups and data transfer and 2.4ghz with the ADSL router for internet like this? :

MAC --5ghz--> TC
ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> MAC

If this is not a good setup, what setup would allow me to get the full speed to the time capsule and be connected to the internet.

Hardware :: Extended Wireless Network - Multiple Airport Express Wireless Setup

May 14, 2009

I'm working in a home/home-office environment right now which was setup by someone else and I've noticed some odd network behavior when moving about the property. Looking at the setup, the relevant portion is: Cable modem - Airport Extreme - 10 port wired switch - 3x Airport Express in different areas of the house. The configuration of each device has the Extreme and all three Express devices set to "create a wireless network" with the network name the same for all four of them. I am not a networking expert but I would have thought that the Extreme should be set to be the "master" in a WDS network and the Express should each be set to participate in that WDS network. If they're all hosting their own wireless network with the same name and the coverage overlaps, how does a PC know which one it's using? Or maybe this doesn't matter. I just know that when we move from one room to another we frequently have to re-select the wireless network to establish connectivity.

Hardware :: Can't Get Canon MP530 To Work Over Network

A PC on our network is doing printer sharing with a Canon MP530. I can get all the Windows PCs to print off it but I can't get our Mac to do so. Our one Mac user has to unfortunately email everything to someone else to print it for her. Would like to solve that problem.

I already tried downloading and installing drivers for the printer but still don't allow it over the network.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Setup Network Canon Ip4300 On It?

Apr 18, 2012

I have a Macbook Air running Lion.  I have been struggling to set up a network printer that has worked for years on Windows and Linux clients (I think it worked with Snow Leopard as well).  The set up is a Silex print server C-6200U+ v 2.3.1 with a Canon ip4300 connected to it's USB port.  The driver is version 10.51.2.0 and CUPS is version1.5.1.  All the latest revs.  Currently other clients on the network print using LPR to queue 'lp' on a TCP/IP port.  In Windows 7 this is all configurable though the gui with a mouse so I'm not doing anything clever.  I have tried a number of iterations of set up on the Mac using CUPS Admin interface and also the System Preferences route.  The closest to success has been to set it up as LPD protocol on a fixed ip address with queue 'lp', from this configuration I can successfully print a test page from CUPS or 'Print and Scan'.  However when it comes to a 'real' print job from Preview or Word or Adobe, nothing much happens.  The print queue says it is 'copying the Print Data' or similar but it just hangs indefinitely.

OS X :: Auto-mount A Network Drive After Connecting To A Wireless Network?

I am trying to figure out how to automatically connect a MacBook to a network drive after connecting to the wireless network that the drive is connected to.

Here is the situation:

I back-up my wife's MacBook via Time Machine to an external hard drive that is connected to my Apple desktop. It works great! I even have her system setup to automatically mount the drive upon log-in. Unfortunately, after leaving our wireless signal and then coming back the time machine drive isn't automatically mounted since she isn't "logging back-in". Is there an automator script that can be built to automatically connect to drive X after connecting to wireless network Z?

MacBook :: Unable To See Canon MP560 Wireless Printer?

Dec 4, 2014

I have a Canon MP560 wireless printer. For several years the printer has been on my wireless network and has been used successfully by several Windows laptops. I recently purchased a used Macbook Pro and I would like to be able to print wirelessly to this printer. The Macbook pro is successfully connected to the same wireless network that the printer is on. I have read through many, many articles and forum posts on how to get this working but I am unable to. When I go in to the system preferences>printers to add the wireless printer it never shows it as an available device. I have done the following:

1. updated to the latest OS X 10.9.5

2. installed the latest driver for the printer from canon's website

3. Downloaded the latest canon inkjet printer software update from the app store

4. reset the printing system several times

5. I have plugged the printer directly in to the Macbook via USB cable

When I have the printer plugged in via USB it is shown in the list of printers and works fine. But when I disconnect the USB cable it shows the printer as offline and I see no way to have the printer available as a wireless printer. If I click the + button to add a printer there are no printers to select to be added.

I have gone through the steps in several forum postings including this one: MacBook Air won't find HP wireless printer and similar other ones but so far nothing has solved this issue.

Sometimes it says not authorized some time it keeps on trying.

When adding a printer I choose windows and I see it and can add it . The driver is available and everything works fine....But it doesn't print or it seems MBP can't send information to that computer which has the printer. The printer on that computer (XP) is shared .

I have a Dlink  DIR-615 router and we all are connected to it. Should I follow a defined procedure or what? Idon't know what to do . I even couldn't print a single page..

OS X :: How Can I Logging Into Wireless Network?

Mar 7, 2009

I have a white MacBook running OSX 10.5.6, and I have trouble connecting to wireless networks that require you to login.Example: I'm in my school's library, I open up my macbook, connect to the wireless network, open up firefox, attempt to go to a web page, and get a message that says that I am offline instead of being directed to the wireless log-in page. This happens at every wireless location that requires you to login/buy a pass to access the internet. The only work around that I've found is to reboot my computer. I think the issue involves my computer retrieving the wireless network's DNS address. Is there a way I can force my computer to pull down the DNS address? I've tried manually entering the school's DNS IPs, but it doesn't seem to work all the time.

OS X :: Getting Two Macs On Wireless Network

Jun 2, 2009

I am using a dsl wireless router to create a home network (damned if im gonna pay 2 bills for a japanese cable router) every time I connect, the internet service provider intercepts my link and forces me to log in, when I try to log in on another computer it does the same thing, but I can only log in one computer at a time on the same user id.

Is there a way to split the connection from my wireless router to each mac without the service provider recognizing it is two separate machines? This is legit, if I shell out the 2 bills for their wireless router I can log two machines in, so its not like im stealing service here, just trying to get my wife and I on at the same time without having to buy new hardware that is redundant.
