i need to merge partitions on external drive. one is empty, one is not. i tried with ipartition demo, but demo to them means you can just take a look at options and not actually demo them.i do not want to pay for software since i will only be using it once FFS.

Basically, I have 2 mac partitions and a windows 7 partition. The problem is the partitions are in order of OSX, Windows 7, OSX Partition 2. I keep trying to format the final partition which is osx partition 2 and join it with my main installation partition OSX but it wont let me. I really want to add that extra space over and not have it as a separate partition but I dont know how.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally got IPartition, and I have the Corolis CDMaker. But when I try to burn, it says there isn't enough space. When I look closer, I see that I will need 2315 MB of space on my CD to burn it. I'm on an Emac without a DVD burner. This is basically a slap to the face. Is something wrong? How can iPartition, which is around 19MB big, require that much space on a CD to burn? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I understand I'm supposed to drag the program to Corolis CDMaker, then hit Burn. Btw, I'm on OSX Tiger.

I read somewhere to have the opp system partitioned and I have been kicking myself in the rear ever since. Too many apps and files want to run next to the opp system, so I'm starting over.I used time machine for a backup of the system (both partitions are showing) on my 1 TB iomega external hard drive (minimax). I partitioned the external 500/500, time machine/additional storage.So that is what I'm working with, now for the question:With my backup complete, if I do a clean install to the internal hard drive (320g) in order to remove the 50g opp/sys partition and just have one 320g internal hd; will my time machine be able to restore to a clean 320 without having the 50/270gig partition setup? If so will this be a somewhat simple process?

These two directories are mostly the same but they each have a few differences. I want to backup my iTunes music onto that backup drive but I need to make sure that I get all the music from my Mac and the backup drive. The folders are slightly different and I don't want to lose any music.Should I just run an rsync command to merge the two folders together into a third folder and then use that as my backup?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Time Machine backups of two iPhoto Library files, one of which I've flawlessly copied to my new iMac, everything is in working order and awesome. Now I have an additional iPhoto Library from another computer that I'd like to add.
How should I go about doing this? I fear that if I simply drag-n-drop the Library file into iPhoto I'll get duplicates (the Original/Modified folders) and lose all the albums, etc.
I've got 20 MP4 files I'm trying to merge into a single MP4. When I drag any one of the MP4 files into MKV Tools it comes up with an error that says: "The variable theTrackData is not defined. (-2753)". Can someone either help with a solution to the MKV Tools problem or suggest another program to merge MP4 files without losing any video quality.

When making movies every time you pause the video camera it creates a different clip. If you pause it 15 times at the same event you download 15 clips which in turn you have to create a button for each clip in I- DVD. I would like to combine some of them to somewhat fewer.

I handle a bit of finances at a small business. Each week I pull out a report from a web-based economy system. That then opens in Excel. What I'd like to do is simple:
1. The first week I pull the report and mark some stuff on the Excel page (for example highlighting certain debitors, making comments, color fills etc.)
2. The following week I pull the report again, and now I'd like to merge the two together. That is, keep the data from week 1 (or replace parts of it, if that's relevant) and simply add the data from week 2 onto that same sheet, so all information is right there.
I thought that would be a no-brainer. Now I've tried to merge workbooks, consolidate data, looked at tutorials on youtube, read forum posts - the lot, and I still can't get it to work. (Brain possibly smaller than I thought).
Has anyone tried the email (mail) merge on Outlook 2011? The button to generate email messages to Outlook is blacked out.

There are 4 Mac partitions and one PC partition in Mac Disk utility I can use. Do you know which partition I can use and Windows 7 PC will see them. In this case, I can just use that partition transfer the files form Mac to PC?

I have read that one way to speed up NX2 is to create a scratch disk. I'm currently upgrading my HD on my iMac G5 (Leopard) to a 1TB HD. Would it be wise (and efficient) to create a partition on the new HD and use it as a scratch disk? I understand you can't use the boot drive as a scratch disk, but if I partition will I be able toname the new partition something other than Macintosh HD, thus permitting use of a scratch disk?

In other words your RAM is reduced to 2GBs rather than 4GB and your video card is split from 512MB to 256MB, etc. I really think he's confusing this with VMware Fusion or possibly Parallels but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't too stupid to think he's right.

I have created a document in Pages that consists of 10 certification cards on one page. I want to mail merge names, dates etc. from a Numbers file but have each card on the one page contain a different name, date etc. When I mail merge it adds the same person to each card on the page and then creates a new page for each additional person.

In a nutshell, you can use it to cut files or folders and then paste them where you want.
As a bonus, you can also use it to merge folders instead of completely replacing them, another functionality that the Finder was missing.

For anyone that hasn't used cut and paste for files before, here's a short description:Cut - when you cut files the only thing that happens is that moveAddict remembers the location of the files, it does not change the files in any way Paste - when you paste, moveAddict moves the files from their original locations to the new one If you cut a file and forget to paste it, nothing happens!
moveAddict does not change the system or the Finder in any way, it's just a regular application which you can uninstall by deleting it.

Inside my iphoto library my "modified" folder weighs 4GB. Is there a way to fuse both Originals and Modified folders?
And dont need the originals since most of the modification I do my pictures is to change orientation. That way I could save more space.
I love iphoto. I use Aperture, bridge and photoshop for work but for my family pictures, iphoto is great. What makes me nervous about iphoto is the possibillity of losing my 36GB worth of pictures (like HDD dying or the library getting corrupt). I manually backup the iphoto library to an external drive and keep a copy in my imac at work. Does Time machine backs up the iphoto library.
A friend's G4 iMac has died - possibly with a fried mainboard - and she didn't have a backup of her Address Book, which is a big problem for her. I've pulled the hard drive and using an IDE-to-USB adapter on my MBP have confirmed that it's still working.
We need to merge the Address Book details from the G4 HD into the Address Book on her MacBook - so at the risk of asking a dumb question, what's the best way of doing this?
I've just taken a look at the Address Book import options, and it looks like "Import... Address Book archive" might be what we want, but do you need to have specifically exported an archive first (which of course she hasn't, and won't be able to do anyway), or by "archive" does it mean "older version of Address Book"? I don't want to try it without getting some kind of clarification first, just in case it wipes the existing contacts from her MacBook rather than simply merge the ones from the old drive.
