View 2 RepliesHaving installed Snow Leopard today on my macbook, I was keen to set up Mail, iCal and address book with my exchange account. However, when I use any of these apps to detect my account settings, it crashes the respective programs. Entourage web services manages to connect my accounts but I don't find it particularly user friendly. Has anyone had a similar experience? If I can't resolve this, is there a way to manually configure accounts in the new apps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at getting my wife an LG enV Touch cell phone and wanted to know if her contacts and calendar info on our Mac could be synced to the phone.
Can anyone let me know if this is possible? I can't find anything online saying it is or it isn't possible, so I just don't know. The person at the store is not very helpful here either.
I use Mail/Address Book to sync my contacts with Exchange 2007 and iPhone. The first sync i saw everything, contacts etc, from my iPhone in Address Book, but suddenly i cant see any contacts in Address Book.
How to get my iPhone contacts into Address Book again?
Has anyone got Address Book/iSync working with Exchange 2003? I've followed all of Apple's steps to enable Address Book's synchronization with Exchange, and I manually force iSync to sync with Exchange.
I used to get an "iSync couldn't connect to Exchange" error, but after resetting iSync's history, now I get no error message. In my exchange server's log, I do see the entry:
2007-05-04 03:11:15 W3SVC1 10.0.0.3 HEAD /exchange/me/Contacts - 80 DOMAINme 10.0.0.19 CFNetwork/129.20 302 0 64
so it's obviously connecting to exchange, but does not populate the address book. It's pissing me off and some blog entry with a workaround at [URL] makes absolutely no sense (and only works on Panther according to the comments.. I'm running OS X Tiger).
Edit: I should also note I've tried the following:
1. Disabled SSL and tried syncing - no dice
2. Tried syncing with my OWA server at work - still no dice
I configured Lion 10.7.3 to sync mail, contacts, and calendar with my corporate Exchange 2010 server. Mail and iCal sync fine. But Address Book shows a blank Exchange Contacts list. The Mail app Show Addresses dialog also shows a blank Exchange Contacts list. I have no problems syncing 450+ Exchange Contacts to other devices including iPhone. I tried deselecting and re-selecting Exchange Contacts in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Exchange. Same results, blank Exchange Contacts list. Console Diagnostic and Usage Messages shows several incidents of this message. This might be normal. I see similar entries for iCal, which sync'd fine.Â

I have a bunch of contacts in my Apple Contact book but am using Outlook for Mac 2011 for email, contact management, and calendar. I have read that you have to sync your Apple contact book to your exchange account rather than directly to the Outlook for Mac 2011 programs so you don't create duplicates (contacts coming from the Apple address book AND the Exchange server). However, I can't find anything that tells me how to sync the Apple Contacts with my Exchange account. I figure at that point once synced, my exchange account will push the new contacts from the Apple Contact book back into Outlook for Mac 2011 making everything whole.

So at my new job they use Exchange Server 2007 for mail and calendars, and supposedly I should be able to view other people's calendars, but I can't find any way to do this in iCal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, i have been using entourage for a couple of years and had no problems. I now want to sync my mail and calendars with my new phone (Nokia N97 mini). To do this I believe I have to use Isync, so I have set the sync services preferences in entourage to 'sync events and tasks with ical and .Mac'.
I have a few queries:
1. when I do this my calendar in ical does not represent my calendar in entourage - there are additional events in the ical calendar (it doesnt recognise that these have been deleted from entourage). Ical is also set to sync with mobile me and that has the same additional events as ical.
2. in ical it says I have 2 calendars 'entourage' and 'entourage 2' however 'entourage' doesnt have any events on it. So I deleted it but it just keeps coming back
iTunes sees calendars we have set up in the office (those being shared, coming from iCal Server - Lion), but it will not sync that data to our iphones. I tried this at home where I have my personal computer's client iCal app get calendar data from our work server. It won't sync that either, though iTunes does see (in the sync list) the calendars.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I'm rolling out 10.6 on some Mac Pros in our office. So far it's gone fairly smoothly (aside from the fact that Xerox has decided to not bother make drivers for 10.6). We're switching over to Apple's Mail/iCal/Contacts instead of the buggy Entourage. Of the 4 users, 3 of them are working fine. Sometimes their AD session goes buggy and they can't access shared folders on our server via smb, but a restart fixes it. I have one user who comes in every morning though, and her Apple Mail app can not sync with the Exchange 2007 server. It prompts her for her password and won't accept it. She can access shared folders though via smb and they open up right away, meaning it's recognizing her domain and user/pass with out her entering it manually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to get a new verizon phone, but I do not want to have any data package (so all smartphones including iPhone, blackberry, droid, etc., will not work). I do want to be able to sync my phone with my iCal and contact book on my mac. I can do the sync manually (usb) or bluetooth. I do need the phone to have a keyboard, so I can edit/add contacts and appointments on the phone itself. If I need to purchase third-party software to make the sync possible, which software? Are there particular non-smartphone phone models that do/ do not have this capability?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia N78 cellphone which I can sync to my Macbook Pro using iSync. This works fine for photos, iCal, contacts but I what I would like to do is to be able to back up and view my sms on my Mac. Does anybody know if there is anyway of achieving this (free if possible)? If not, can anybody recommend a phone (other than the obvious iPhone) that has this syncing capability with Macs? I am looking to update my phone soon anyway.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just used the ical calibration tool to sync ical up with my google calendar and it works like a charm. I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
I have been given the attached one-pager with screenshots of how to configure a Windows Outlook client to work with our corporate email system (Exchange).
I want to configure the Mail client on my Mac, however.
Can anyone give me a clue where these things are entered? When I add a new account in Mac Mail, and choose Exchange 2007, I don't see similar fields. My guesses so far have resulted in "the server cannot be contacted on port 443
One of my customers is experiencing an error with one particular Exchange 2007 shared calendar in iCal. The shared calendar he has access to is in the Delegation tab of the Exchange account as Read Only, which is his correct level of access. The calendar will initially load correctly, but over time it starts to display an error with recurring events similar to this -- "iCal can't save the event "office time - do not disturb" to the exchange server. The account can't be modified. To discard your changes and continue using the version of your calendars that's on the server, click Revert to Server. To save your changes on your computer until the problem is resolved. click Go Offline." After selecting both Go Offline or Revert to Server, it cycles through all the recurring events on an infinite loop. If you select Go Offline, the errors will stop, but taking the account back online to get calendar updates will result in the error immediately returning. Removing and re-adding the account in the delegation tab will refresh the calendar without error for a short period of time, but the errors will eventually pop up again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in the market for a new phone, and since I'm a Verizon customer, I'd like to get a verizon cell phone that I can easily and successfully sync my iCal with. Any experiences with this?
EDIT: I've also read that some of the cell phones that can sync with ical (from verizon) have the hangup of only being able to sync one of the calenders. Has this problem been fixed, or is there a certain phone I should aim for that doesn't have this problem?
Is there any application or way to get alerts on my mobile from iCal events? I have set few notifications in my iCal, but it will be shown on my Mac only. If there is any application that can send SMS to my mobile.

How do you backup to iCloud an Exchange Address Book?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro which I use for work. The help desk at work was able to set up my iPhone to receive both email and calendar appointments. On my MacBook I'm also able to get email, but for some reason I can't get the calendar function to work, using iCal. I work as a freelancer, so have a number of different calendars and not being able to sync this one makes things difficult. The help desk had a quick look at it, but said that as I'm freelance they're not required to spend any time on it (and they've got lots on their plate anyway),For me the oddity is that my iPhone has no problems, but the MacBook does (and gives me hope that there might be some small setting that I've overlooked that would fix this). So, here's what i've got. The bits in bold are the fields and the details that follow are the settings I've entered> For obvious reasons, I've removed any information that might be sensitive (e.g. usernames, password, company name).

I run 10.6.8 server in a VM with Parallels Server for Mac. Lithium pinged me early Monday morning to tell me that my calendar server wasn't reachable. I found it had kernel panicked. After resetting it and verifying the directory structure and permissions, it booted fine. But availability or free/busy wasn't working for all users! The events were all there. Invites could be sent and received but when a user checks for availability when creating events. they see the daily work hours grayed out but not anything corresponding to a scheduling conflict. Â
Things I have Tried:
- bounced ical server
- Rebooted the server
- checked the owners and permissions for the data store hierarchy. (_calendar:_calendar 750)
- checked for xattrs on .ics files in several calendars
- deleted .db.sqlite for several users in several dir in their calendar stores
- in the past I have found that some iTIP invitations seem to get "stuck' causing problems with an individual users free/busy and deleting the inbox resolves this so I deleted several inboxes
-I moved a copy of the data store to a test server and pointed several clients at it.Â
The issue persisted in all of these cases without any change in behavior with one exception; somewhere (i lost track of where) during this process users also lost their delegation preferences. I'd love to find out how and where that is stored so that it can be restored in the future. It seems pretty fragile...Â
I found one way to restore the functionality; copying a users __uid__/<GUID>/calendar out. . Moving all the folders under <GUID> out of the way and dropping the .ics files into ical with their account configured in that instance. Although this worked for selected users, I have many, many users and calendars so this solution would be suboptimal. Â

I've installed the Facetime beta, but I'm not getting any contacts listed for me to call.
I suspect that this is because I have all of my contacts stored on an Exchange based email account (in order that it can sync between all of my devices, etc), rather than being stored "On My Mac".
Can anyone with a similar configuration confirm that they have the same problem?
This is going to be dead on arrival if I can't call people - I'm certainly not going to duplicate all of my existing contacts in my Address Book to a second copy stored "On My Mac" in Address Book just to be able to dial someone.
