I can easily boot into Windows 7 and charge it with Mobile Device Center, but I don't want to boot into Windows everytime I want to charge my phone. Oct 31, 2010I'm looking for a program/app that will allow me to primarily send SMS from my Mac using my current phone number. Does anyone know if anything like this exists? I can only think of something like this working in one of two ways: Sending an SMS composed on my Mac through my mobile/cell, via Bluetooth or some other method? OR Using software that emulates my mobile number to compose and send SMS?
I remember back in the day you could actually email an SMS to a phone by using their mobile number as a username and their network as the domain - e.g. 07123456789@orange.net. Unfortunately, because pretty much all the networks now provide email services too, doing that nowadays means they will actually receive an email at their online account instead of their SMS inbox.......................

I've seen some very large USB type phones (eww) but I was after a bluetooth headset. Could I say use a bog standard mobile phone bluetooth headset? I rather like the Nokia ones.

The phone and the mac connected ok via bluetooth, and I inputted the code that comes up on the screen. After which the the connection 'failed'.
I then tried another mobile phone, and the connection failed on that too. The thing is I've used both phones before to transfer files to the Mac Pro.

Applications :: Sync Mail With Mobile Phone / Ical Does Not Represent My Calendar In Entourage
Jan 12, 2010So, i have been using entourage for a couple of years and had no problems. I now want to sync my mail and calendars with my new phone (Nokia N97 mini). To do this I believe I have to use Isync, so I have set the sync services preferences in entourage to 'sync events and tasks with ical and .Mac'.
I have a few queries:
1. when I do this my calendar in ical does not represent my calendar in entourage - there are additional events in the ical calendar (it doesnt recognise that these have been deleted from entourage). Ical is also set to sync with mobile me and that has the same additional events as ical.
2. in ical it says I have 2 calendars 'entourage' and 'entourage 2' however 'entourage' doesnt have any events on it. So I deleted it but it just keeps coming back

The question I have is do I need to connect that modem to the same connection (using a splitter) to where my telephone handset is ?If I connect this usb modem from the macmini to the phone line (not where the handset is), can I then use the Imac to connect to the phone for fax/cpi|? It is all the same phone line and on the same wifi.

MacBook Pro :: Mobile Internet Not Working
Jan 3, 2010I have a Bell Mobile Internet Stick and my Macbook Pro doesn't recognize it. I have installed The Bell Mobile Connect software numerous times and nothing. it will find the hardware, and when i select connect, it ask for my password. Once my password is entered, a crash report comes up wanting to send it to Apple. On my hackintosh dell mini 10v under the network preferences it has a connection for Novatel CDMA connection, but I cannot get that to come up on my genuine MBP. Any ideas to get this working? Unfortunately this is the only source of internet i have and i am on the netbook to post this. I recently upgraded my hard drive to a 500gb Seagate from my standard 160gb drive the computer came with, I did an install onto the hard drive from my Snow Leopard install disc, and when prompted transferred all of my files from a previous time machine back up.

Applications :: Can't Open Numbers Doc From Mobile Me On MacBook Air?
Oct 15, 2010Got a weird problem. I store alot of documents on my iDisk so I can access them on either my MacBook Air or my iMac. It has worked great for several years.
I'm using Numbers '08 on both computers and both computers are completely updated.
Several weeks ago, the MacBook Air quit allowing me to open a Numbers document stored on Mobile Me. When I try to open a Numbers doc, I get a message saying, "The document could not be opened."
However, all is fine on my iMac. All numbers documents will open as normal from Mobile Me.
Also, other types of documents will open fine on the MacBook Air from Mobile Me i.e. Preview, Pages.
I tried copying a Numbers doc from Mobile Me to the Air, but I get an error stating, "The operation can be completed because and unexpected error occurred(error code -8084)."
Also, If I'm not dealing with Mobile Me, Numbers seems to work fine on the Air. I can create documents and open them fine.
In desperation, I did a clean install on the Air, but to no avail. I still have the same problem.
I can't think of anything I did to the Air to make it suddenly quit opening docs from Mobile Me.

MacBook Air :: Anyone Use A 3G Phone With MBA?
Apr 24, 2008I have an AT&T Express 3G card I use to use with my MBP (which I sold yesterday). I am picking up a MacBook Air today during my lunchbreak . Since the MBA does not have an express slot, I have the following options for high speed internet on the go:
1. Get a USB 3G Modem or get a USB adapter for my current express card. The only problem is it would stick out and take up the only USB port on the MBA.
2. Get a 3G phone capable of sharing the connection over bluetooth. It would look seemless, but I would have to make sure the phone is charged. I currently use an iPhone as my main phone.
I take a train ride everyday to and from work, so I've gotten used to (spoiled?) having high speed internet. If I go with option 2, I would probably get a phone that is not that feature packed, I just want a stable and reliable connection, as thats all I would be using it for.
