I've been trying to sync all of my contacts off my old sony ericsson phone onto my macbook, so I can then sync them onto my shiny new android. How do I do this? Every time I use iSync nothing happens.
I have a Panasonic VS3 phone (No bluetooth) and today I bought a USB cable to connect it to my Macbook for transferring ringtones etc. But the CD that came with it only has PC drivers on it. I've been searching all day for a solution but I can't seem to find anything. I downloaded Bitpim but it didn't recognise the phone.
I often charge my Moto Q running Windows Mobile 5 through my desktop PC, but I recently got a MacBook and want to charge it using my Mac (I'm refusing to use PC's from now on). I can easily boot into Windows 7 and charge it with Mobile Device Center, but I don't want to boot into Windows everytime I want to charge my phone. Anybody know of a way I can charge my phone in OS X?
I'm looking for software that lets you control your mac through a java enabled mobile phone, like salling clicker, preferably free. but any suggestion, paid or freeware will do
Is there any application or way to get alerts on my mobile from iCal events? I have set few notifications in my iCal, but it will be shown on my Mac only. If there is any application that can send SMS to my mobile.
I'm looking for a program/app that will allow me to primarily send SMS from my Mac using my current phone number. Does anyone know if anything like this exists? I can only think of something like this working in one of two ways: Sending an SMS composed on my Mac through my mobile/cell, via Bluetooth or some other method? OR Using software that emulates my mobile number to compose and send SMS?
I remember back in the day you could actually email an SMS to a phone by using their mobile number as a username and their network as the domain - e.g. 07123456789@orange.net. Unfortunately, because pretty much all the networks now provide email services too, doing that nowadays means they will actually receive an email at their online account instead of their SMS inbox.......................
I downloaded skype the other day. Awesome service. The calls are very clear. What I would like to do is call my friends from a bluetooth headset when I'm at home. I've seen some very large USB type phones (eww) but I was after a bluetooth headset. Could I say use a bog standard mobile phone bluetooth headset? I rather like the Nokia ones.
So, i have been using entourage for a couple of years and had no problems. I now want to sync my mail and calendars with my new phone (Nokia N97 mini). To do this I believe I have to use Isync, so I have set the sync services preferences in entourage to 'sync events and tasks with ical and .Mac'.
I have a few queries:
1. when I do this my calendar in ical does not represent my calendar in entourage - there are additional events in the ical calendar (it doesnt recognise that these have been deleted from entourage). Ical is also set to sync with mobile me and that has the same additional events as ical.
2. in ical it says I have 2 calendars 'entourage' and 'entourage 2' however 'entourage' doesnt have any events on it. So I deleted it but it just keeps coming back
this noob understand what the differences will be in terms of pros/cons and overall performance. What about if Apple keeps everything else the same and just upgrades the processors, how would that affect things (hypothetically)?
My white MB is too new to freeze up. Yes, it's been 3 days, my MB keeps freezing up when I'm surfing via firefox and/or safari. Everything freezes up, I mean everything. I have to power off. In the last 10 min, it freezes twice already. Also, the trackpad seems to move slower & not very smooth. I just installed 4GB 800MHz RAM (it recognizes as 800MHz).
tried using an ethernet to USB adaptor. I saw one at Fry's for $20. I normally do not have need for ethernet but one hotel I have stayed at seems to only have an in room ethernet connection to get on line.Would I notice any difference between an adaptor that supports USB 2 vs USB 1 while surfing the internet?
I got my first macbook pro about a month and a half ago, and everything has been working flawlessly. Recently however I have been experiencing extremely slow internet. It hasn't been a problem until recently when I noticed extremely slow web surfing. The download speeds seem to fine, but surfing the net is painful. I have firefox along with safari and both are equally slow. It is faster to surf some sites using my phones 3g service then my wireless internet. I have looked at mroogle and have tried some of the solutions on there and none of them seemed to work. I am using a linksys E1000 router and my airport has full bars. I don't know how run a speed test so I am not sure what my internet speeds are. I am not the best with computers, so if the solution is complex
As the topic states, my macbook pro 13" temp shoots through the roof when surfing youtube but normal internet usage doesnt make any noticable change in temp.
From what I know the network is controlled by the CPU (since the macbook pro doesn't have its own network card, correct me if im wrong) which could explain the increase in heat but when I for ex. download something and its running at the max speed my broadband can handle it doesnt change the temp to any noticable degree either.
I just used Chax to combine my AIM and Facebook accounts in iChat, but I just realized how many of my friends use the stupid mobile feature for AIM, so they all show up in my buddy list when they really arent available. Is there anyway I can hide those mobile accounts in iChat?
I just received a usb cable to connect my samsung phone to my ibook. The computer does not recognize my phone when I plug it in. Additionally, they sent a mini disc with it. Is there something I am supposed to do to get this to work?
When surfing the net (like right now) or just letting it idle, my hard drive makes a slight "clunk" sound like the HD arm is hitting the edge of the case (or maybe starting up and shutting down?). There seems to be no loss of performance. I did a disk verify and everything is OK. Should I be concerned?
I have all these albums and songs on my phone and I don't know where they came from. I haven't downloaded them, they aren't in my library and I haven't synced with another computer. I have done a sync over and over anot nothing. I have even done a synch and took all the music off. I think it is 'other' stuff but don't know how to get it off of there.
my ipad battery is great. i see the apple website lists the ipad and 13 mbp as 10 hr battery. how does the 13 mbp do on battery for surfing the web? is it as good as ipad?
What O2 settings I need to enter into my macbook to get my mobile broadband working? The O2 manual doesn't make sense and on the O2 website it says the mac will walk me through it but nothing comes up. I guess I need to enter the settings in manually but I dont know what they are and where to put them.
Just got one of the new white macbooks - it's great so far. Most of the important things I have figured out, but unable to get my 3 USB Modem working - it just sits there and flashes at me. Wondered if any of you wise old Applers have come across a solution? Grateful for any advice. 3, despite saying that it works are useless.
I have a Bell Mobile Internet Stick and my Macbook Pro doesn't recognize it. I have installed The Bell Mobile Connect software numerous times and nothing. it will find the hardware, and when i select connect, it ask for my password. Once my password is entered, a crash report comes up wanting to send it to Apple. On my hackintosh dell mini 10v under the network preferences it has a connection for Novatel CDMA connection, but I cannot get that to come up on my genuine MBP. Any ideas to get this working? Unfortunately this is the only source of internet i have and i am on the netbook to post this. I recently upgraded my hard drive to a 500gb Seagate from my standard 160gb drive the computer came with, I did an install onto the hard drive from my Snow Leopard install disc, and when prompted transferred all of my files from a previous time machine back up.
Macbook Pro 13.3 inch (5,5) 2.26 Ghz 500gb hard drive 2gb RAM OS X 10.6.0
I have an AT&T Express 3G card I use to use with my MBP (which I sold yesterday). I am picking up a MacBook Air today during my lunchbreak . Since the MBA does not have an express slot, I have the following options for high speed internet on the go:
1. Get a USB 3G Modem or get a USB adapter for my current express card. The only problem is it would stick out and take up the only USB port on the MBA.
2. Get a 3G phone capable of sharing the connection over bluetooth. It would look seemless, but I would have to make sure the phone is charged. I currently use an iPhone as my main phone.
I take a train ride everyday to and from work, so I've gotten used to (spoiled?) having high speed internet. If I go with option 2, I would probably get a phone that is not that feature packed, I just want a stable and reliable connection, as thats all I would be using it for.
