There's this website that has a bunch of mp3s in one directory. Instead of downloading them one by one.. is there a program that will download the entire website and all it's mp3?
View 3 RepliesJust a few minutes ago, I pulled up iWeb to work on my band's website, only to find that it's nearly all gone. Only one page of the site remains, and everything else just shows a blank screen. When I try and publish it to a folder, it gives me "Publishing error, an unknown error occured." I simply can't have this happen. This website has taken me over a year to create, and now it's trashed. Where does iWeb store the website? Is there some way I can get it back? I've tried everything, but have had no luck.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just got a new macbook pro, and when I popped my old secondary hard drive in, I notice that half of my mp3 files are now shown with a little lock next to them. I can manually un lock them one at a time, but I'm a professional DJ, and I have thousands of files. how to unlock an entire directory in one fell swoop? I didn't lock them to begin with, so this is aggravating.
I cannot save bpm or cue points to files while they're locked. My serato scratch live software will also not save overviews while they're locked.

With the update to OS-X 10.7.3 did anyone lose the entire Library folder from their user directory? I didn't notice until I started working on the installation of an application (beta version) and found the my entire ~/Library/ folder gone, all 57+ GBytes of it. I'm restoring it from Time Machine two days ago, but I wonder what happened with the update to completely remove it.

i've used automator for very simple projects, like batch resizing, batch renaming and the like. however, what i'd really like to do is set up system where at a pre-appointed time every day, my computer visits a newspaper website, downloads the digital edition as a pdf (there is a clickable link to do this), then uploads said pdf onto my idisk. then all i need to do is download it on my iPad. that i can manage! am i able to do this with automator? am i able to do this at all?

And also something to mention, Server Admin 10.5.6 and Apple Remote Desktop 3.2 DOES NOT WORK on Snow Leopard. The only way to manage my Server is to use Screen Sharing app <-- IT SUCK.
im looking to get a 10,000rpm velociraptor drive and transport all of my current apps and osx from the standard 320 gb drive to the velociraptor. how would i go about doing this? would i need to save everything on an external drive and then transfer it to the velociraptor? or could i just insert the velociraptor into drive bay 2 and then drag everything from the 320 gb hdd in drive bay 1 onto the velociraptor? ive never installed an os on a computer before so this might sound like a dumb question but any information that you might have would be helpful.

Is there an app that will allow me to just create a backup of the entire directory, over 2 dvds if necessary without requiring me to split the directory in two?

When I check "split archive" and select "user defined" under the volume size dropdown and click create rar, it creates 500+ rar archives! Nowhere does it ask me how big I want the volume size for "user defined". Does anyone know how to use this app? I mean, I know how to alternatively archive into 200 mb parts (zip them, split & concat the zip file) but that requires the user to unarchive twice.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a mac newbie coming from linux. In order to not have all applications in the /Applications top folder, I create some empty folders in the /Applications folder and move apps there (to group apps).
Reflections/questions:
It seems to be ok for me to create folders in /Applications that are owned by me without giving a password, which seems a little bit funny. (/Applications belong to the admin group as also I am in and admin group can write in /Applications. In Linux I have to to "sudo mkdir" to make folders in the corresponding folders).
Is there any problem with moving apps (owned by root) into these new folders that are owned by me?
does anyone know if it's possible to copy an entire week in iCal and paste it onto the next week? I've tried fiddling around with it a little bit, but to no avail. The reason for my inquiry is because I have my college class schedule on iCal, and I want to be able to have every week just show up, instead of re-typing it every week.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change an album in itunes. I drag the whole album in itunes: no problem. The artist name is spell slightly different than other albums by the same artist so when I transfer to my ipod you get two artists in your list: problem for me. I select every track in the album, right click and get info. Change the artist name and click ok. The artist name for every track changes however it always leaves the first track on its own while the others move to their own (splitting the album): problem When I check the info/tags nothing seems out of place on that one track? Not the first time this has happened but it seems to be on random albums.

So I hold it down and restart. Open back up iPhoto after restart and it's like I'm starting it for the first time. It shows ZERO photos. What happened!?!?!

I have my iTunes library stored on an external hard drive when using with my MacBook. I've just bought a Mac Mini and want to copy the entire collection over to my Mini's hard drive, but using File > Library > Organise Library and Consolidate files doesn't appear to work. Most files are copied, but some, randomly, aren't. Most of my purchased songs don't get copied either. What's the best way to ensure all of my music files are copied over to my HD so I can copy to my Mini?

However, I want to make a backup of the entire disk but want to be able to access all the data individually as I want to transfer the data onto a new HD and the applications/fonts etc onto an SSD. Also, is it advisable to literally copy the contents of the Applications folder across to the new SSD drive or should they really be re-installed one by one (yikes!)?

It seemed as though the problem started when I tried to open (by mistake) an excel doc in Word - or vice versa. Now, Word will not let me open a file from the directory. (It will let me select the recently opened docs on the drop-down menu.) When I click "File" and "Open", the screen freezes and eventually pulls up a white screen with lines on it - looks like a writing tablet, which is the edition's logo - and it says "Open" on top.

This only started happening recently, ever since I added a personal domain. I still host on mobile me, but I just use godaddy for my domain name.

I have recently started having a problem in that I don't have administrative write ability on certain folder structures. This problem is predominately in folder structures which are associated with a Sync app that I use called Super Flexible File Synchroniser. I am not able to save new files or edited files into this folder structure from any applications on my Mac i.e. Mail, Parallels, Office, iWork. I have had to save it somewhere else on the hard drive, then drag it into the folder I want it in, then Finder asks me for my password to "Authenticate" this change.
Is there a way to give myself ownership of an entire folder structure?
I have a huge file of contact information for our local elementary school that I need to convert into a printable directory for the PTA. I am no computer whiz and I can't figure out how to make it work without retyping it all! I am 20 hours in and on the letter "C". Please tell me there is a better way! I have tried importing to address book, but I can't get it back out to manipulate it in bulk.
