So, I don't like torrents, I generally associate viruses, malware, and spyware with torrent programs, is Vuze safe to download? I want to download Jolicloud and it's only available by torrent. Am I at risk in anyway by installing Vuze?
View 16 RepliesMy computer temporarily shutdown after a power outage. Something I was downloading on vuze went from 50% complete down to 0%. I presume vuze has lost it due to the crash. Any ideas on how I can get it to 'remember' again?

before it did i used vuze and it worked fine, after taking my mac to the apple store to get a free new hard drive, it came back all other applications installed fine msn etc
I currently use transmission but it doesn't like to play well with VLC. When I run anything at all on VLC (mp3, movie, anything) the files playing will constantly skip or lag. I turn off transmission, and viola, it works. Anyway, I do love Transmission but a buddy of mine says Vuze has been working great on his mac. Anyone have any experience on both of these programs and why you choose to use that certain one over the other?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I download a torrent in firefox vuze automatically opens (because that's what I have set it to do under the application tab in preferences). But I'm using safari, as my primary browser, and I would like for safari to associate torrents with vuze/transmission in the same way.
When I download a torrent from, say, mininova the torrent is downloaded to my downloads folder and is visible in the safari download window (with the azureus icon) - but I manually have to open the torrent for vuze to start downloading. So the torrent is associated to vuze, but it doesn't automatically start downloading.
Im just curious if its a good idea to download itunes software from a site not affiliated with apple? Should i worry about glitches and problems or is it a pretty common thing? Just let me know what you think.

i have just done a re-install on my ibook G4 and my operating system is 10.4.2.When i tried to re-install vuze it told me the my java is outdated,no problemo i down loaded 1.5 as per minimum spec however when i try to install java it tells me that i need tiger with at least version 10.4 1.1 and have 10.4.2 i cant seem to find a work around as aszerus is no longer supported.Any help would be appreciated save me buying a new computer as i know this

Having my Mac Firewall turned on, I constantly get to see a popup asking me to allow or deny incoming connections while opening for instance Vuze or Skype.I've already checked the settings of my firewall in preferences, but I cannot find a possibility to make the firewall remember my preference. It's pretty annoying that I have to allow or deny incoming connections at every start up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three Macs and one PC. The WDTV has no problems accessing the Mac and PC that does not have Vuze installed. However, it can not access my Macbook Pro where Vuze is installed. I've talked to support teams at both Western Digital and Apple, and they said that everything was correct set-up at my end.
I'm suspecting that Vuze because:
Vuze clearly has affected how the Macbook Pro broadcast itself on my network. The PC, with Windows 7, sees the Macbook Pro as "Vuze on Vuze", not as "MacBook Pro", which is the name I have given the computer. The Macs sees it correctly as "Macbook Pro". Also, the WDTV sees the Macbook Pro as "VUZE", but when I try to connect, it says "The Media Server can not be accessed". I'm using the "Network Shares" feature on the WDTV and not the "Media Server" feature. I have also turned off the "UPnP" plugin under Media Servers in Vuze Preferences, but it didn't make a difference. Also, my Macbook Pro has three partitions with 10.6.2 installed. On the only partition that does not have Vuze installed, the WDTV can access it. So clearly something is up with Vuze.
When I download audio files from Vuze they play perfectly in itunes but I cannot sync them with my Iphone. Is there some kind of transcoding I need to perform before my Iphone will support these audio files?

Have 'reopen windows' unchecked in prefs.  Was able to run through safe mode boot once but now seems to hang about 20% in everytime.  Have had to do shutdowns w power button (I hate that) or /by ctrl-option-command-esc Boot single user run rack -fy says 'apparently ok'Mount -uw / reports removed 10 orphaned or unlinked files and 10 directories?

I find that, more often than not, my MBP (late 08) gets incredibly hot and overheated). So I heard about this program smcFanControl and have been using it since, and it really does a good job keeping my computer cool.I have the left/right fans running at 6000 RPM (the max), is is SAFE for my fans to be running that fast? Will it significantly lower the longevity of the fans/computer at all?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been running OSX 10.6.2 without any problem for the last six months until today....Now when I try to run applications (other than Safari which is working slow, but otherwise ok) the application icon will appear in the dock for 2-3 seconds and then disappears without opening the program. I'm not aware that I've added or changed anything that might have triggered this problem. I can however open the applications without any problem if I boot into safe mode. I've tried more than one user profile, disk utilities, resetting PRAM, running Onyx maintenance utilities etc.

Google says that its used when you work with postscripts files and want to convert them to pdf. Does anyone know if Distiller is used for something else? I only work with pdf files, so I was wondering if it was safe to delete Distiller. And if I delete it, does anyone know if I will have problems when there is an update for Acrobat, maybe it will complain about missing files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have created a video presentation for a project I am working on using Final Cut Pro. I noticed Final Cut Pro creates a default folder in Documents called "Final Cut Pro Documents." This folder contains six additional folders:
1. Audio Render Files
2. Autosave Vault
3. Capture Scratch
4. Render Files
5. Thumbnail Cache Files
6. Waveform Cache Files
Is it safe to delete these six folders? I wouldn't otherwise care, but collectively they are taking up 25 GB on my HD. I'm not planning to delete the actual FCP project files and their attached media, but rather the above six folders which appear to be cache? Do I run any risk of losing my entire presentation if I delete these six folders, or is it simply a matter of just re rendering my project if I delete them?
