with vuze on my mac osx, im selecting the files to download, via bt junkie, vuze then loads as normal but the new files do not appear! they show in downloads as normal, i double click on them and it says i need java 1.6, which i believe i already have, have checked mac updates and all is apparently fine
View 6 Repliesi have just done a re-install on my ibook G4 and my operating system is 10.4.2.When i tried to re-install vuze it told me the my java is outdated,no problemo i down loaded 1.5 as per minimum spec however when i try to install java it tells me that i need tiger with at least version 10.4 1.1 and have 10.4.2 i cant seem to find a work around as aszerus is no longer supported.Any help would be appreciated save me buying a new computer as i know this

Doing a complete new install on a number of pre-cleaned HDs on numerous models of older donated Macs (G4/G3s desktops, iMac Bondi CPUs) for a graphic design program I'm starting for inner city kids. After installing 10.4 from an original Tiger disk, then installing 10.4.11 combo update followed by Security Update 2009-005, I want to insure I'm also using the most recent version of Java for this install as well. But when I install Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 9, I get the message I need to install earlier version(s) first(?).

Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available.Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following error
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting... Can not find message file : No such file or directory.

I currently use transmission but it doesn't like to play well with VLC. When I run anything at all on VLC (mp3, movie, anything) the files playing will constantly skip or lag. I turn off transmission, and viola, it works. Anyway, I do love Transmission but a buddy of mine says Vuze has been working great on his mac. Anyone have any experience on both of these programs and why you choose to use that certain one over the other?

i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro. Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences. Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either. There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.I downloaded the package from support to try a re-installation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close. No reinstall, nothing. Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.

If I download a torrent in firefox vuze automatically opens (because that's what I have set it to do under the application tab in preferences). But I'm using safari, as my primary browser, and I would like for safari to associate torrents with vuze/transmission in the same way.
When I download a torrent from, say, mininova the torrent is downloaded to my downloads folder and is visible in the safari download window (with the azureus icon) - but I manually have to open the torrent for vuze to start downloading. So the torrent is associated to vuze, but it doesn't automatically start downloading.
Having my Mac Firewall turned on, I constantly get to see a popup asking me to allow or deny incoming connections while opening for instance Vuze or Skype.I've already checked the settings of my firewall in preferences, but I cannot find a possibility to make the firewall remember my preference. It's pretty annoying that I have to allow or deny incoming connections at every start up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three Macs and one PC. The WDTV has no problems accessing the Mac and PC that does not have Vuze installed. However, it can not access my Macbook Pro where Vuze is installed. I've talked to support teams at both Western Digital and Apple, and they said that everything was correct set-up at my end.
I'm suspecting that Vuze because:
Vuze clearly has affected how the Macbook Pro broadcast itself on my network. The PC, with Windows 7, sees the Macbook Pro as "Vuze on Vuze", not as "MacBook Pro", which is the name I have given the computer. The Macs sees it correctly as "Macbook Pro". Also, the WDTV sees the Macbook Pro as "VUZE", but when I try to connect, it says "The Media Server can not be accessed". I'm using the "Network Shares" feature on the WDTV and not the "Media Server" feature. I have also turned off the "UPnP" plugin under Media Servers in Vuze Preferences, but it didn't make a difference. Also, my Macbook Pro has three partitions with 10.6.2 installed. On the only partition that does not have Vuze installed, the WDTV can access it. So clearly something is up with Vuze.
I am brand new to Mac (I got a G4 laptop in trade to replace a dead windows desktop).I am trying to install Limewire and it tells me that I cannot: "could not launch application because it requires a version of Java that is not installed". It goes on to acknowledge that it can see everything up to 1.5...but that I need 1.6.
So, I go to Software Update and make sure that I have 1.6. Opening the file on a windows machine works perfectly fine, therefore I have tried updating the Java through "Software update" and still no luck.

I have seen a few videos about mastering and gave it a try myself. It can be done by clicking the master tab, then going to the Input 1-2 column setting and then clicking setting - mastering, etc.When I first did this a few weeks ago, there were many options such as hip hop mastering, electronic mastering, etc.Now, when I do so, I have different - much less enticing options and have no idea where the good ones went.
So I just decided to install Limewire today. When I installed the newest version I couldn't use it because it required Java 1.6. I learned on the internet that the only way to get around this was to buy Mac Leopard and I'm not about to do that for Limewire. So I thought I would take another route and try to install an older version of Limewire and get around not having Java 1.6 that way. I downloaded Limewire 4.18.8 from this web page: [UR:] . When I open the installer on the computer, I click "Continue' on the first page, I choose to install the application on my hard drive, I get to the Install page, and click "Install." It then tells me: "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."

The UI and the speed, and the alerts from these applications just runs very slowly on the mac. Sometimes, the alerts don't even work. I've tried Camino, Firefox and Safari. Safari SEEMS to be the best for speed, but the worst for things like Alerts. Firefox, the new 3.0 beta 2 seems to be the most stable. Also, when I close one of the Java windows, about 30% of the time the whole application crashes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLong time browser, first time poster. I just have a question about finding the Java 1.6 update for my macbook pro. I did a search first and came up with nothing. I went to Java's website and all it recommends to do is run a software update which I have done, but it only updated me to java 1.5. Apple and [URL] only have the Java 1.6 update for the "64-bit capable Intel" computers, but I guess my machine is a 32 bit. I did a google search and there are plenty of blog and computer sites that say it is available, and has been since April of 2008. Can any of you point me in the right direction on where I can find it? Just trying to get Limewire to work on this thing (its my first Mac, pretty fancy machines these things are, very happy with it).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running an intel iMac Core 2 Duo from a few months back. I installed the most recent security update for Mac OS X Leopard and after the reboot the computer worked fine for 2 more boots.
(Note: during these boots I noticed that often my computer would get the spinning rainbow wheel for a long time before it went away. It happened at apparently no prompting.)
After those I installed the game City of Heroes on my macintosh and then attempted to install the new safari and Java update (I haven't updated in a while.)
I was told the Java update and safari update failed to install. I rebooted to try again and attempted to install again. Both failed.
I gave up and started playing CoH. About 2 hours after playing my game froze. I was running ventrillo at the same time and was able to talk on that.
After many failed tries to use command + option + escape I decided to hold down the power button to reboot my computer. The first attempt yielded a solid blue screen.
The second attempt the computer started fully. Stupidly I assumed the problem was fixed and didn't backup software and files.
I tried to run City of Heroes again and the app would not even show up in dock. It simply would not run. All other apps seemed to work fine.
I rebooted again and this time I got another blue screen. Again, but this time I got the grey screen with the apple symbol and the spinning wheel. I've never gotten past this screen again.
I have boot camp so I tried to boot into windows. Windows booting was successful. After that I rebooted and attempted to use the advice from this thread for help: [URl] I tried the single user mode fix first. I got the message:

After that I tried booting into safe mode. Using these steps: [URL] Unfortunately, NONE of these ways would let me boot into safe mode. Both left me at the same grey apple icon and spinning grey wheel.
I would appreciate help SO much. Even if the only fix is to get a new computer any advice would help me. If I need to somehow reformat or such then if anyone might know how I could backup my settings and applications with this impediment.
