Applications :: Video Software For Slow Motion Effect?
Feb 13, 2010is there a decent FREE program out there to simply add slow motion to a video? iMovie obviously can't unless i'm missing something.

MacBook Pro :: MBP Crashing On Video And Slow FCP / Motion?
May 18, 2010I recently (Jan2010) purchased a new MBP 15, with 4GB RAM and 7200pm 500GB Hard disk.
The main reason for buying it was to do video editing on FCP and Motion.
However FCP on this machine seems really clunky, i.e. everything has to be rendered before you can even see an effect. Is this normal? I don't have this on my old work PC with CS4 Premiere Pro. And it sometimes crashes, even on titling.
Also, Motion is really clunky. It doesn't show me any fluidity when playing back even basic sequences... just jumping.
And when I even just play videos on QT or rented DVDs the computer just crashes about every half an hour. Proper crashing too, with no mouse movement or anything.
Can someone shed some light on this?
All the forums I read before buying this MBP, said FCP and Motion would be fine!
Motion 5 :: Graphics And Audio - Sound Effect Not Going To FCPX?
Aug 23, 2014I have done a quick generator in motion with graphics and audio. I have saved it and its showing up in FCPX
However when I goto use it I see the graphics but there is no sound that is contained in it.

Jul 9, 2006This question is regarding burning a DVD that I have made in IDVD. I edit my dvds with Final Cut express and then set it all up in idvd. I was wondering why and how I can stop the fact that when I watch the DVD back, if I have used any slow motion in the movie that it goes all shaky and doesn't run smoothly at all. How I can stop it happening and make it so that slow motion runs smoothly once burnt on to the dvd? It plays fine during playback on the computer before I have burnt it on to dvd.

Jun 3, 2004I have a new MacBook (Dec '08) and everything is working fine with one exception. When I type numbers into the calculator app they appear on the screen in slow motion with a nice long pause as each number typed is displayed. On our iMac the calculator app just flies along and has no problem keeping up no matter how fast I enter in numbers. Any ideas where to start on this one? Besides the standard software we have installed Microsoft Office and Handbrake.

Mac Pro :: Effect Of Two Video Cards
Mar 8, 2009I have a Mac Pro and two video cards, and am upping the setup to a new Nehalem Mac Pro with the ATI 4780 card + NVidia GT120 card. For illustration purposes, I will use those two cards to frame my question, as we seem to be pretty familiar with their specs by now. My question is somewhat conceptual, and is difficult to explain, but I am counting on the MR collective intelligence to sort it out! I'll use a few scenarios to illustrate my point: Scenario 1: Heavy use of the 4870 card, using both outputs (two screens). Naturally, performance is better than using the GT120 card.
Scenario 2: Same heavy use, but this time one port from the 4870 is used, and one port from the GT120.
Scenario 3: Same heavy use, but both ports on the 4870 are used, and one port on the GT120 (three screens total)

How do software applications deal with two video cards? Would running Aperture, FCP, gaming etc., degrade just one screen? Wouldn't the whole application have to slow down to accommodate the lesser card? Is there a "primary" card and a "secondary" card designation? I'm thinking of multiple monitor setups (three, for example) where a lesser card is necessary to drive the extra screen, but the application is using all three.

Sep 2, 2014i want to export an HD video with approx. 30 Gb. So now i have a problem: My Final Cut Pro X not want to do this, it says, 4 Gb for a "normal" DVD or approx. 9 Gb for a Blue-ray and that are not 30 Gb....
But before I buy Motion i wanna check, if it was a useful alternative.So what i want to do is following: My video with approx. 30 Gb either on 6 "normal" DVD's or on 2 Blue-Ray Disc's. If so, operate this with Motion or even with final cut pro X (and it was my mistake)?

MacBook Pro :: Launchpad Randomly Open In Slow Motion When Typing
Apr 29, 2012A while ago, my MacBook Pro started to randomly open launchpad in "Slow motion" when I am typing. Ever since then, my computer has been acting quite sluggish, and once my iTunes library disappeared. (Luckily I keep a backup, but that seems to have resolved itself.) I do not think that the opening launchpad thing is a hardware issue, mainly because of all of the other symptoms. One thing that I'm worried about is it might be the Flashback trojan, but I have not downloaded anything that would appear to be an Adobe update, and I did get the Java update. I am just curious about what it sounds like.

Motion 5 :: Exported Video Color Not The Same As Canvas
Jun 23, 2014When I export my project in Motion 5.1 using the default setting for Render: Color + Alpha, Premultiply alpha checked, and the rest of the setting set for "Use canvas setting" and the co-dec Pro Res 422 (HQ), the colors I see on the canvas come out as wash out looking in the exported video. Deep reds come out as light pink. I tried setting the project background (black) as solid instead of transparent thinking that that was the issue but there was no difference. I tried different co-decs and settings in the options before export without any luck.

Nov 5, 2009Where do you sit on the whole Genie Effect vs Scale Effect war that's been raging for the last 8 years? Whilst the Genie wowed me the first time I saw it, I chose Scale Effect pretty much as soon as I got OSX, preferring performance over prettiness. Now, years later, when I occasionally catch it on other peeps machines I think it just looks... tacky. I wonder how many people on here still have it switched on?

Jun 18, 2012I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

Jul 25, 2010Whenever I begin broadcasting in Nicecast, it works perfectly streaming iTunes and everything, but when I turn the Voiceover effect on it just doesn't work.
My mic is compatible with the program as it streams fine with the Microphone setting and I've tried several microphones with the Voiceover effect, the effect just doesn't work. Any patches for this or something?

Jul 14, 2007Personally, I think it's a great effect, but my client hates it. Unfortunately, it is the default in iMovie, and iMovie seems very reluctant to turn this effect off. Here's the problem I am having:
- My client requested a series of still shots to be made from a 40 minute video. So, I imported the DVD video into Quicktime using a third-party app (DVD-VX,) and then I was easily able to create still shots, (it was someone's 65th birthday party.) So far, so good...
Then, the client wanted the shots (about 125 of them) set to music, and provided a series of CDs. OK, no problem. I put the pictures in order, and synchronized it nicely with music, using iMovie, so that I could easily trim the music, fade the volumes in and out, and add titles and transitions between the different sections. So far, so good.....................

Sep 17, 2008I've been stumped lately as to what in the world is playing a strange sound that i think is a product of Genius. It happens when I:
- Navigate to the iTunes store
- Click on any links in the itunes store, search, account, etc
- when the Genius side bar is out, and tracks change while playing from my Music.
I have gotten it to stop the incessant noise making when tracks change by turning it off and hiding the side bar; but it still makes the noise when i click playlists, my iphone or ipod, other directories, etc.

Mar 7, 2010When I try to use the "chroma keyer" effect, it doesn't work. Nothing changes in the canvas when I use it. The effect shows up on the "video" tab of the viewer window if I click "view match frame" on the bottom of the canvas window. However, the effect doesn't hold for anything else. From what I've seen on tutorials and such, the effect is supposed to be in real-time with the canvas, and affect the sequence itself on the timeline. Is this simply something that I may have accidentally clicked that isn't allowing this to happen!

Jan 26, 2009I just installed the motion 3 dvd from the final cut studio 2 but i can't locate it anywhere in the applications or elsewhere. can't find in with search. when i go through final cut pro it also isn't available in send to menu, while color is.
I'm not sure if i'm missing something here. the installation went fine with a reboot. I tried re installing which also seemed like it happened without any problems but no traces of motion.
i have no clue where it is, unless it changed it's name and is hiding somwhere.

Oct 22, 2010I have a clip of a background moving to the right that will be projected in the background of a play in order to give the feel of motion in a train. I want the clip to start off with a still shot and then accelerate as if the train first is still and then accelerates until reaching full speed (which is the normal speed of the clip).
I know how to change the speed of a clip by going to "Clip adjustments", but I don't want to change the pace of the whole clip, I want the speed to increase gradually. I tried to mark short parts of the clip and then change their speed to increase gradually, but that is too rough. Isn't there any "acceleration effect" built-in?
