OS X :: Slow Motion Stacks Bug?
May 22, 2008I was just playing around with stacks and I found out that if you hold shift and click on a stack it springs up VERY slow, kind of cool looking the first time you do it, kind of stupid after that lol.

MacBook :: Calculator App Working Slow / Numbers Appear On Screen In Slow Motion
Jun 3, 2004I have a new MacBook (Dec '08) and everything is working fine with one exception. When I type numbers into the calculator app they appear on the screen in slow motion with a nice long pause as each number typed is displayed. On our iMac the calculator app just flies along and has no problem keeping up no matter how fast I enter in numbers. Any ideas where to start on this one? Besides the standard software we have installed Microsoft Office and Handbrake.

May 18, 2010I recently (Jan2010) purchased a new MBP 15, with 4GB RAM and 7200pm 500GB Hard disk.
The main reason for buying it was to do video editing on FCP and Motion.
However FCP on this machine seems really clunky, i.e. everything has to be rendered before you can even see an effect. Is this normal? I don't have this on my old work PC with CS4 Premiere Pro. And it sometimes crashes, even on titling.
Also, Motion is really clunky. It doesn't show me any fluidity when playing back even basic sequences... just jumping.
And when I even just play videos on QT or rented DVDs the computer just crashes about every half an hour. Proper crashing too, with no mouse movement or anything.
Can someone shed some light on this?
All the forums I read before buying this MBP, said FCP and Motion would be fine!

Jul 9, 2006This question is regarding burning a DVD that I have made in IDVD. I edit my dvds with Final Cut express and then set it all up in idvd. I was wondering why and how I can stop the fact that when I watch the DVD back, if I have used any slow motion in the movie that it goes all shaky and doesn't run smoothly at all. How I can stop it happening and make it so that slow motion runs smoothly once burnt on to the dvd? It plays fine during playback on the computer before I have burnt it on to dvd.

MacBook Pro :: Launchpad Randomly Open In Slow Motion When Typing
Apr 29, 2012A while ago, my MacBook Pro started to randomly open launchpad in "Slow motion" when I am typing. Ever since then, my computer has been acting quite sluggish, and once my iTunes library disappeared. (Luckily I keep a backup, but that seems to have resolved itself.) I do not think that the opening launchpad thing is a hardware issue, mainly because of all of the other symptoms. One thing that I'm worried about is it might be the Flashback trojan, but I have not downloaded anything that would appear to be an Adobe update, and I did get the Java update. I am just curious about what it sounds like.

Jun 18, 2012I have several HD videos from my Sony NEX-3 camera that will not play very well from within iMovie. They freeze up, or run in slow motion while the sound track continues without any problem. I've seen other related comments on this forum, but no one has suggested a fix yet. I can play my clips just fine from the finder menu using "Quick Look". Other videos from the same camera work, what has changed?

Nov 2, 2010I've noticed recently some odd behavior regarding google chrome and my download stacks in the dock. I have my download stacks folder set so that the most current downloaded object shows up as a preview (ex. if its a pdf a photo of the pdf appears).
However recently I've noticed that when i download some .rar files or mp3's, the preview in the stacks icon is just a blank text document. its not until i click the stack and it fans out that i see that a preview of my downloaded file (ex. mp3 will show its album art).
when i click the stack again and the items fan back into the stack, the preview once again turns back into a blank document image instead of the corresponding mp3 image.
OS X :: How To Change Stacks Icon
Oct 27, 2007Right now, in my Stacks area I have my Firefox Downloads, Music, Movies, Pictures, and Documents. Most of them have a folder as the first item, so unless I mouse over them, I don't know which one is which. I had those folders have different icons in Tiger, but I'm not sure how to go about changing them now.

I was stupid so i delete documents and downloads from stacks and now i cant find stacks on my dock! Was successful in missing the bin but must have dropped it off the dock & now I can't figure out how to replace it.
I would actually prefer to just have a 'shortcut/icon' for 'my pictures' there instead, as 99% of the time I clicked stacks I would go there.

Software :: Docs Disappeared From Stacks?
Mar 20, 2010I am using a Mac OSX 10.5.8 - my problem is that I had a number of important docs located on the dock in Stacks and today they are gone. I do not know how they disappeared or where they are, and they aren't in Finder where the original documents should be/were located. It replaced the folder in Stacks with a "?" icon instead of the first file. I have tried to go back in time using Time Machine, but restoring old data (Documents and Library) hasn't found those missing docs. Any suggestions on where to find my docs? I am confused as to how they could have totally disappeared from my desktop, hard drive, and backup.

But I can't get them working. Apparently the overlays are set to a date, so they always will appear in front. But they don't on my Mac. When I drag them over they will appear in front, but when a newer item is placed in the same folder, as the stack overlay, the overlay will just go up in the "stack hierarchy"

Don't work either. So why can't I get it working?

Mar 4, 2009I have a network shared folder added to "Places" in Finder. I have also dragged a shortcut into the dock. The problem is that when I click the shortcut in the dock, the "stacks" doesn't pop up. Instead, it only pops up when I click a second time. After that, it works fine. It stops working after I restart the machine, so I have to click again for it to work.
So basically, it looks like when I click it the first time, it "makes a network" connection to my windows PC where the network folder is located. This looks like probable because the fact that under "Shared" in finder, the PC isn't listed UNTIL I click the mounted network folder in the "Places" in Finder.
OS X :: Can't Drag Items From Stacks To Trash
Mar 7, 2009For the last couple of days, I haven't been able to drag any files over from my Stacks to the Trash; nothing happens. I'm forced to open the folder and drag it over from there or Apple+Delete it. I *might* have accidentally deleted a file (I don't remember which) causing this to suddenly happen and haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.
