i want to export an HD video with approx. 30 Gb. So now i have a problem: My Final Cut Pro X not want to do this, it says, 4 Gb for a "normal" DVD or approx. 9 Gb for a Blue-ray and that are not 30 Gb....
But before I buy Motion i wanna check, if it was a useful alternative. So what i want to do is following: My video with approx. 30 Gb either on 6 "normal" DVD's or on 2 Blue-Ray Disc's. If so, operate this with Motion or even with final cut pro X (and it was my mistake)?
I have a VHS tape of an educational program that I did and plan to transfer it to a DVD and then do some editing on it with a video editing app... Like breaking it up into shorter clips and adding some text to it, etc) I'm looking for a video editing program that I can do this with. Can I use Motion 5 to accomplish this or is there another app in the App Store that would be better... and not cost a fortune
I recently (Jan2010) purchased a new MBP 15, with 4GB RAM and 7200pm 500GB Hard disk.
The main reason for buying it was to do video editing on FCP and Motion.
However FCP on this machine seems really clunky, i.e. everything has to be rendered before you can even see an effect. Is this normal? I don't have this on my old work PC with CS4 Premiere Pro. And it sometimes crashes, even on titling.
Also, Motion is really clunky. It doesn't show me any fluidity when playing back even basic sequences... just jumping.
And when I even just play videos on QT or rented DVDs the computer just crashes about every half an hour. Proper crashing too, with no mouse movement or anything.
Can someone shed some light on this?
All the forums I read before buying this MBP, said FCP and Motion would be fine!
When I export my project in Motion 5.1 using the default setting for Render: Color + Alpha, Premultiply alpha checked, and the rest of the setting set for "Use canvas setting" and the co-dec Pro Res 422 (HQ), the colors I see on the canvas come out as wash out looking in the exported video. Deep reds come out as light pink. I tried setting the project background (black) as solid instead of transparent thinking that that was the issue but there was no difference. I tried different co-decs and settings in the options before export without any luck.
I would like to capture my iPhone screen in action for purposes of demonstrating its usage to others (e.g. How do I create and send a text?). I want to be able to use this in a FinalCut video.
how can I export video from macbook pro to a tv? I have gone from mini-dvi port to hdmi into hdmi switch for home theater, but get no response. is there a switch internal to the macbook??
so i've created outlines for a bunch of animated characters- 24 frames per second, each frame is a different psd file with black outlines. I'm animating over live action footage, similar in look and style to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
I brought them in to final cut and edited them nicely (i applied some motion effects, changing the position on a few frames) so i can work with them in after effects to track them to some handheld shots.
What i need to know how to do is to export these outlines from FCP to After Effects with an alpha background- I did the export with the animation codec and the millions+ option, but when i brought them into after effects, the frames are all black! (as they are in FCP when i get rid of the shot beneath them...(which i'm doing because i just want to edit the outlines in after effects, not them on top of the footage))
i have mac mini machine and fcp x version. export video to camera via firewire cable. i can not export video. in the fcp prefrences option when i go to play back option, there are one option for a/v out, but there are camera dvice not show.
I'm having a problem with iMovie 09. When I export a movie, the video will "zoom" which I don't want to have happen. Here's two pics of what's going on.
I use a Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD handycam. I import my clips into FCE4 via the log and transfer window, using the Apple Intermediate Codec. I edit my video, but i dont know where to go from here! What is the best way to export this video without loss of quality? These videos would mainly go onto youtube, iDVD, or a memory drive. I do not have quicktime pro, so any modifications would have to be within FCE4.
I'm a drummer and use a few different camera's to record my drumming. I have one camera capable of recording 720p or 1080p, but my other 2 only shoot 480p. I want export the whole video after editing in all the different shots, at 1080p or 720p. My problem is, the camera's that shoot 480p, have a border around them, so can I fill in that border somehow?

I've been working on some making some video clips that are ipod commericals (to eventually do the whole thing on imovie) but after 4-5 videos being finished, I work on the next one and right in the middle of rendering, it just freezes and doesn't do anything else, or when I try to just export it it does that, but before it works fine. I tried removing a couple extra effects I aded, and it still does it.
so I recently bought a Canon HD Camcorder 1080p with 32GB SD Card. After I am done shooting videos I have two programs to choose from: Final Cut Pro 2 and iMovie '09. It seems that Final Cut Pro does not import from Camcorders, so I have been using iMovie.
Once I start importing, it asks me if I want the movie in full 1920x1080 HD. I selected yes. Once I am done importing into iMovie, I want to export it to .mp4 in High Def but the only options iMovie gives me to export is iDVD, iTunes, YouTube and Mobile Me Gallery and none of those formats are in High Def.
How can I export my videos to .mp4 in full 1920x1080 format?
I can't seem to export my movie. I'm using the latest iMovie app. Whenever I try to export it, I get an error code -2125, which says "Unable to prepare project for publishing - The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred." I tried re-editing from the material itself. I can't afford to recapture or to redo everything, because it takes so much time. I'm using a Macbook 2.0 Core Duo 1.5 gig ram.
I am recording a day-and-a-half worth of presentations. The video will total out to be about 12 hours or more. I am recording presentations by various professors on different subjects. 12-hour-video is worthless to a normal sane person. I want to cut the video into sections and then export to Vimeo. Ultimately I would like to slice-up everything into 15-20 minute sections.
Is there an easy way, say "chapters", that I can setup in FCPX and then click "Export" and export out 40-or-so videos? I'd like to call a section "Greg-1" and "Greg-2" and have FCPX generate Greg-1.mp4 and Greg-2.mp4, etc...

When I export the sequence I edited with quicktime, the playback video is very different from what I edited on the timeline. The playback has the clips with ins and outs that are way off than what I cut, and some of the clips don't show at all or have changed transitions. However when I play in the timeline in FCP, the sequence is fine, just the way I cut it.
The source of the clips was one long .mov that I cut into clips for the timeline. Everything has gone smoothly but the exported .mov is just so different. How can I get the time codes of the clips to be the same in the exported .movs? I just want the quicktime .mov to represent my edit exactly. can I play within the FCP player window and Log and Capture?
So i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
I was just playing around with stacks and I found out that if you hold shift and click on a stack it springs up VERY slow, kind of cool looking the first time you do it, kind of stupid after that lol.
I have ordered several new MBPs (5 with SSDs...) for my clients, but have a mechanical HDD for myself in my new MBP; I just thought about the motion sensor that locks mechanical HDD read heads on sudden acceleration, and realized that it is an OS feature... Has anyone that has a mid 2010 MBP and a SSD noticed HDD lock in sudden movement with a SSD?
You can simulate this 'lock' by moving the MacBook suddenly when playing content from the drive... Has anyone seen the drive cause playback to halt for 2-3 seconds while the SSD 'recovers'? If so, this needs to be fixed...
I am trying to purchase Motion 5. It appears to only be available on the App Store via download. At a 1GB file size it is to big for me to download via my cellular service without taking an extreme finacial hit. Is there anyway to get the
1) download to occur on a windows machine at my workplace?
2) get the application in a hard format such as DVD?
I'm running a OS X 10.9.5 and just purchase Motion 5.1.2 at the APP Store and I cannot save any template in Motion 5. Every time I tried, I can hear a sound like "tunk" and I see the progressive bar very, very quickly. Doesn't seem to be normal. The project is on the respective Motion Templates file but when I open FCPX and look for the project I saved, I can see it as a thumbnail in the respective media browser but it is not available. I tried with different media and even without any media (just text) and the result is the same.
I am using Motion 3.I am making a text (not even animated) with Alpha (transparent BG) to be used in Final cut 6.Project in FCP is 1080 30p (ProRes). what the best project settings are for this project? I did try these for far, and the exported text looks very bad:
- Custom preset: 1920x1080, 8bit, Square, Field order NONE, - Broadcast HD 1080i60 - XDCam HD 1080p 30
I am exporting it as QT movie, current project and canvas settings, Animation, 8-bit color + alpha
