I saw that MYOB 2010 Mac has a Xserve app out now. I tried MYOB trial 2010, but didn't like it. It doesn't auto grab your bank statements or have some other key features I want. I really wish there would be a enterprise version for Xserve also with contractor attachments. Anyone use QB mac 2010 on their Xserve with a hack?

I'd like to know what the best way would be to share movies on my xserve with other Macs and my TV. I want every device to show changes that are made on the server. (So not that I have to add the movies on every Mac to have them show up). If possible, I'd love this to work through iTunes (it should at least work easily; my mother has to understand you know).

I am just used to jumpering for master or slave but there is no mention of it on the drive so if I don't of shouldn't use any of the above jumper settings do I need to jumper for Master and slave anymore or is it unnecessary with these new generation of HDs? I installed Vista Ultimate on my Rev B. MBA last night and nearly everything has been fine.
However, some of the Microsoft updates continually fail, primarily the Office 07 SP2 update, which I really would like.
Also, the keyboard backlighting worked fine initially, and could be controlled with the function keys, but since installing 79 updates overnight to bring the OS up to speed, my keyboard backlighting no longer works in Vista, but everything else controlled by the fn keys work as they should. When I press the keyboard backlighting fn keys, it just comes up dimmed out and with a circle with a line through it indicating that I can't use it.
My company would like to purchase Final Cut Pro. From what I have read, the company can get an Enterprise AppleID. However, even with an Enterprise ID it appears that we only get a code. Then the user has to use their own AppleID to redeem the code and install it on their work Mac. My question is once they leave the company how do we make sure they can't download the same app at home and how do we set it up so the next employee can download the same app without us paying again for the software? Our policy is to wipe machines when an employee leaves and set everything up from scratch which would wipe out the Final Cut app.

I have a few issues with device support I thought I ping this community about:
1) Wireless Adapater doesn't show up in Device Manager (and doesn't work of course)
2) iSight, Network Controller and Performance counters all have (i) issues in Device Manager (update driver online doesn't work)
3) Resolution maxes out at 1280x800 (me thinks this is because it thinks the monitor is a generic PnP monitor)
Any ideas on where to get the proper drivers? I did the bootcamp stuff using the latest and greatest with the new MacOS.
Whenever trying to connect to a WPA2 Enterprise WiFi network, I only get an IP address when it is the first time. (Authentication in itself works fine, it is getting an IP address that is the problem.) What I mean is the following:
1. I start up the computer
2. I connect to the network just fine
3. Suppose now I turn Airport off
4. Then I turn Airport on again
5. Now it doesn't work anymore! I still get authenticated (PEAP) fine, but I now get a "self-assigned IP address" and can no longer connect to the Internet.
6. When I restart, the same happens, i.e., "go back to step 1"
It seems as if the computer keeps a wrong cache of something, which is only cleared after restart?
It is not a big deal, would have been worse if I couldn't connect at all, but still quite annoying that I have to restart every time.

I am running windows through VirtualBox. I only have Quickbooks on it because I don't have a Mac version. I need to be able to print my reports in quickbooks, but it's telling me there is no printer installed in windows even though I can print outside of windows. I tried to save in the "shared documents" so I could come back and print that way, but the documents don't show up. How can I print through Windows & VirtualBox? I also can't get Windows to recognize my jump drive so I can transfer it to another computer to print either.

I would love to make this happen; the biggest hurdle is that the offices uses quickbooks (multi-user edition for our salespeople to process and track their sales), and I understand that there is no cross-compatibility or even feature parity for the Mac version. Is there anything out there that has similar feature to the Windows version of Quickbooks that we could use if we do a switch to Mac? Would NOT want to emulate the software or run Parallels/etc.

I want other computers (mostly Windows) that are not on the same network to be able to access this company file and update it. For instance, if I am using quickbooks on the mac at the home location, I want someone on the road with a Pc (windows) to be able to update the file with new invoices/clients etc etc, so I can view them instantly at the home location on the mac. She needs to run the Windows version of Quickbooks and I'm wondering whether to set her up in BootCamp, Parallels, or VMWare. She doesn't necessarily need to virtual machine and she probably won't use more than 20 GB, but what are your thoughts?

I just upgraded my G4 PowerPC 1.5 GHz to OS X 10.4.11.
Now I can't even get quickbooks 2005 v.7.0 to open. It quits out pronto, there is a screen that flies up first and it says that I only have 15 more uses before I need to register. I can't get you the window word for word because it's only up there for a second.
This program worked fine when I was running 10.3.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and the same thing happens.
I'm loath to plunk down $199 for QB2009 esp. if it won't work. I hope someone can help me 'cause I'm ripping out my hair on this one. All my business data is on there as well as my checkbook.
Intuit on Tuesday announced QuickBooks 2011 for Mac, its latest accounting and bookkeeping application with a new multi-user solution, satisfying the most-requested feature from customers. The new multi-user support in QuickBooks 2011 for Mac includes user permission controls that will allow small-business owners to delegate accounting tasks to others in the company. Intuit said that the "guiding principle" in the development of the latest version of QuickBooks was to save small businesses time. QuickBooks 2011 for Mac will become available for purchase on Sept. 27, and will support up to five users accessing records at the same time.
Administrators will be able to control the level of access individual users have to records. The 2011 update will also offer milage tracking, the ability to sort transactions in account registers, quick export to Excel or Numbers, and better report customization. "With the multi-user solution, which includes user permission controls, small business owners will be able to delegate important accounting tasks to others in the company," said Will Lynes, Intuit's QuickBooks for Mac product manager. I've read that I should install de x11, wich I did, but when I tryed to run VMware it just failed. Then I uninstalled x11 and xquarck, keep failing installing kerkythea and the VMware still didn't work. I use Lion OS. Unable to retrieve kernel zone sizes - Failed to initialize montor device - Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to - come up when trying to open my Quickbooks in VMware Fusion.

Apple on Friday added a new server option to its Mac Pro lineup Friday, with a $2,999 system that is designed to replace the Xserve hardware which will be discontinued in early 2011.
The Mac Pro Server comes with one 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processor, 8GB of RAM, and two 1TB hard drives. It also has Mac OS X Server unlimited with a client license, and an ATI HD 5770 graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 memory.
The new configuration starts at $2,999 and ships in 2 to 4 weeks. Apple's previously available quad-core and 8-core Mac Pro systems ship within 24 hours, while the 12-core model takes 3 to 5 days to ship.
The new Mac Pro Server can also be upgraded, with custom build-to-order options offering up to two 2.93GHz six-core Intel Xeon "Westmere" processors, for a total of 12 processing cores at an added cost of $3,475. Users looking for the best possible system can also add $3,400 to the price and get 32GB of RAM.
The new hardware became available Friday after Apple quietly announced on its website that it would no longer offer its Xserve rackmounted servers after Jan. 31, 2011. New Xserver orders will be accepted through that date, and the hardware will be backed by Apple's standard one-year warranty.

We have a Late 2006 xsrv which has always run fine. A while ago, it froze up and we rebooted, all still works fine however the Hard Drive no longer shows on the desktop, nor does it show up in the Finder or in Disk Utility. The server is running Raid 5 and when I look in Raid Utility everything shows as "Good", including the Volume, the Raid Set and the three drives. The strange thing is that everything is functioning fine on the server other than the above. The problem however is that the drive is not showing so backups cannot identify the source to run.

Everything works fine except of serial console - there is no way to connect to it. There are only few random characters displayed on system start and thats all. I've tried all connection settings that are mentioned in Apple documentation (57600 8N1, 9600 8N1 etc.. ) with no success. I'm using ZTerm and PL2303 based USB RS232 adapter- no problem with serial console on sun, cisco, brocade and many more . Connection with older xserve's is also possible. I have to put all machines into production, but I can not do this without reinstalling Mac OS X - Raid 1 on OS slice is required. I can not start OS installation with no graphic card or serial console
