My Problem is our small company MUST use the windows version of QuickBooks and I would like to switch our windows environment over to a Mac server environment with all imacs and airs running VM Fusion with windows 7 and windows version of Quickbooks with the ability to access the Quickbooks from all computers.

I really wish there would be a enterprise version for Xserve also with contractor attachments. Anyone use QB mac 2010 on their Xserve with a hack?

Windows On Mac :: Printing Reports In Quickbooks

Apr 2, 2010

I am running windows through VirtualBox. I only have Quickbooks on it because I don't have a Mac version. I need to be able to print my reports in quickbooks, but it's telling me there is no printer installed in windows even though I can print outside of windows. I tried to save in the "shared documents" so I could come back and print that way, but the documents don't show up. How can I print through Windows & VirtualBox? I also can't get Windows to recognize my jump drive so I can transfer it to another computer to print either.

Windows On Mac :: Transitioning A Quickbooks-using Office To Mac

Apr 29, 2010

I work at an all-Windows office (besides my computer!) that is considering switching to Mac. I would love to make this happen; the biggest hurdle is that the offices uses quickbooks (multi-user edition for our salespeople to process and track their sales), and I understand that there is no cross-compatibility or even feature parity for the Mac version. Is there anything out there that has similar feature to the Windows version of Quickbooks that we could use if we do a switch to Mac? Would NOT want to emulate the software or run Parallels/etc.

OS X :: Setting Up Mac For QuickBooks Remote File Access

Feb 22, 2009

I Currently want the following to happen, so kindly lead me in the right direction to getting this to work. I want to have quickbooks installed on the Mac. I want other computers (mostly Windows) that are not on the same network to be able to access this company file and update it. For instance, if I am using quickbooks on the mac at the home location, I want someone on the road with a Pc (windows) to be able to update the file with new invoices/clients etc etc, so I can view them instantly at the home location on the mac. Right now I edit, export, save email, load, save , export, email.....so much of a hassle.

1) Multi User quick books 2009 - Check
2) Mac Powermac G5 2.0DP 2gigs.
3)....???

if it is easier to just NOT have access on the mac and to just store it there for remote access...I am perfectly fine with that as well!

Windows On Mac :: Quickbooks - BootCamp / Parallels Or VMWare?

Dec 27, 2009

I'm gonna give my mom my 13" Unibody Aluminum MacBook 2.0GHz with 2GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. She needs to run the Windows version of Quickbooks and I'm wondering whether to set her up in BootCamp, Parallels, or VMWare. She doesn't necessarily need to virtual machine and she probably won't use more than 20 GB, but what are your thoughts?

1) BootCamp?
2) Parallels?
3) VMWare?

Software :: Quickbooks 2005 No Longer Opening?

Oct 6, 2008

I just upgraded my G4 PowerPC 1.5 GHz to OS X 10.4.11.

Now I can't even get quickbooks 2005 v.7.0 to open. It quits out pronto, there is a screen that flies up first and it says that I only have 15 more uses before I need to register. I can't get you the window word for word because it's only up there for a second.

This program worked fine when I was running 10.3.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and the same thing happens.

I'm loath to plunk down $199 for QB2009 esp. if it won't work. I hope someone can help me 'cause I'm ripping out my hair on this one. All my business data is on there as well as my checkbook.

Intuit on Tuesday announced QuickBooks 2011 for Mac, its latest accounting and bookkeeping application with a new multi-user solution, satisfying the most-requested feature from customers. The new multi-user support in QuickBooks 2011 for Mac includes user permission controls that will allow small-business owners to delegate accounting tasks to others in the company. Intuit said that the "guiding principle" in the development of the latest version of QuickBooks was to save small businesses time. QuickBooks 2011 for Mac will become available for purchase on Sept. 27, and will support up to five users accessing records at the same time.

Administrators will be able to control the level of access individual users have to records. User Permissions lets small businesses determine who can work in up to eight accounting activity areas. In addition, iChat integration allows logged-in users to communicate with each other using QuickBooks to avoid crossed wires.
Make Everyday Tasks Easier
Mileage Tracking enables users to log their job-related auto mileage for reimbursement on customer invoices and at tax time, giving small businesses a better understanding of job costs.
Register Sorting allows users to find specific transactions faster by easily sorting account registers by date, type, number, amount, and other fields.
Export Report Data seamlessly to either Excel or Numbers.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Screensaver Stuck On IMac Lion

Mar 6, 2012

Sometimes when my screensaver kicks in the display never goes to sleep. Instead, the dancing screensaver, which is clearly running, is sucking up CPU and running hot for days. When I finally sit down and move the mouse, the pointer moves but the screen refuses to wake. This is a fairly new iMac, no mods, no programs installed of questionable nature, virtual new sock OEM iMac. Thinking about downgrading to SL as this is one of many problems that I have with Lion (not just on my machine but every Lion box). Has Apple peaked yet? Can we expect nothing but trouble from here on out?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: 32 Bit To 64 Bit Possible On Brand New Imac?

Mar 13, 2012

I bought a new iMac back in October and used a Time Machine backup from my 2008 Mac Book Pro to get all of my files transferred over. The other day i went into my About This Mac section on my iMac and noticed (i think) im running in 32 bit mode on my iMac. Im not sure if its because my MBP was running in 32 bit mode or not. Im pretty sure my iMac is capable and equipped to run 64 bit. How do i get my iMac running in 64 bit, and if i do, will it cause any compatiability issues with my programs (Adobe Creative Suite, Paralells, etc.)?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Reinstalling V10.7 On IMac?

Mar 27, 2012

I ended up getting the grey screen that wouldn't do anything, so I turned off the Mac, then turned it back on again and entered the Lion Recovery module. I selected reinstall Mac OS X, then I was taken to a screen with 2 choices - Macintosh HD or Recovery HD.  I believe the Recovery HD was locked, so i (mistakenly?) selected the Macintosh HD partition. Will this create a problem, or was it the proper partition for reinstalling the OS? Everything seems to be working fine, with no more kext errors, but I'd like to avoid a potential conflict if the OS isn't installed in the proper partition.

OS X V10.7 :: Lion Won't Install On IMac

Apr 25, 2012

I have an iMac currently running 10.6.8 (2.8 GHz i5 processor, 8 GB ram). I downloaded Lion. When I try to install it, everything seems ok, but it does pop a warning saying "OS X Lion: "Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk (volume name)". The "More Info" button takes me to this URL: [url]...kb/HT4649 "This message means the installer cannot create the Recovery HD partition on your hard disk. Recovery HD offers on-disk recovery tools, allows you to restore from Time Machine backups, reinstall OS X Lion over the Internet, or set a firmware password. Recovery HD is not needed to install and run OS X Lion, nor to access most of its capabilities and new features." To be honest, I can live without that. I do my backups with an online service anyways. So I click Continue. The install goes on, and very soon it prompts for a re-boot. So I reboot. When it comes back up, the "About this Mac" still says I'm on 10.6.8.I've done this now five times.  I have a feeling I could do it forever and it would never actually install Lion.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Installing It On An IMac?

May 17, 2012

I am trying to update my iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion via a purchased download. The first time it wouldn't install because it said the disk was corrupted and needed to be wiped. So I wiped it and restored to the starting position, did disk repair (all fine). Downloaded it again, after several failed attempts. Finally got it to download and install only to discover it wasn't working properly - Mail for instance didn't work - and used OSX recovery to reinstall, which downloaded "components" for 8 hours and then I got a big yellow triangle warning saying "installation failed."

I have used up all my high speed internet connection allowance for the month trying to do this, and am now back on a restored version of Snow Leopard. Any advice gratefully received! I simply don't have the ability or patience to try to download another 4GB.
