Applications :: Symantec Not Doing Full Computer Scan - No Permission To Access Files?
Sep 25, 2010
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can give Symantec permission to read these files? Some of them are old IM conversations, but others I have no idea what they are. I ran a virus scan, and it skipped over quite a few things. I'd rather just be safe and have everything checked.
I have some photos that won't open because it says 'I Don't have Permission to Access." Out of 700, all in the same folder, only about 200 have this problem. I did the "Get Info" cans changed permission, but I had permission to 'Read and Write' the file. Then I tried letting Disk Utility fix it, but it's not an Apple File so it doesn't touch it. Then I tried the Terminal, but sense it's just in one folder I couldn't figure out how to adjust the one folder. How to regain access to all my pictures? It's on a Macbook Air running Lion
I am trying to restore photoshop files I created and seem to have erased by mistake. For some of the files Time Machine gives me the following message :
The opreation cannot be completed because you don't have permission to access " filename"
I created these files and they are important and I do not know what else to do to retrieve them.
So my father got a new Macbook and I was trying to transfer over some of my files. I turned on file sharing (on my own computer, MBP) and accidentally removed myself from the permissions list for the Applications folder. Stupid, I know.
Now I can't access anything: Any application, System Pref., Time Machine, etc.......
Applecare's solution is to reinstall Leopard, not sure where the hell the disk is now. But I know I still have it. Is this the only course of action? Would repairing my permissions solve it? (using the install disk to access it)
I've had a MacBook for nearly 2 years and recently convinced my parents to switch from a PC to an iMac. I've managed to get everything up and running with the exception of our scanner which is an Epson Perfection 1640SU.When I push the scan button on the scanner, the computer recognizes the scanner and comes up with a preview. I can make adjustments with the menus but I can not actually push the "scan" button because it is grayed out. I've attached a screenshot so people get an exact idea of what I'm dealing with.
I have an 08 Mac Pro with a stock apple raid card. 4 2TB WD Green drives make up the raid and I use it for my iTunes library and Aperture Library. I use the extra sata port for my 1 TB Hitachi boot drive which is the one I purchased my Mac Pro with. I have had this setup for nearly if not over a year with no trouble until the past week and a half. The raid utility shows that everything is fine. The battery is good, the raid partition is good, and even when I click through the individual drives in their respective bays it says SMART Verified Status Good. My trouble is this. Anytime I play a song or a tv show, or access files even without using iTunes the computer freezes. I can't click on anything, there is no spinning wheel and I have to manually restart it. When I do restart it the raid volume does not show up in the finder. But when I go to verify disk or repair disk in the disk utility it shows everything is fine. I have to rebuild the volume with diskwarrior and when I use any file off of the volume it freezes. I've replaced the drives and that hasn't helped. So I'm at a loss here.
I'm trying to copy over an ISO file (legit one mind you) and OSX is telling me that I cannot move the file because I don't have permissions for it. So I do the usual, get info, check the permissions box, but the funny thing is, I do have Read and Write access but it still pops up that error.
I'm stumped on how to fix this... any ideas?
Here's a screenshot to clarify what I'm talking about.
I keep getting the message that I do not have permission to access the server, but I am able to access all the documents and files. Just cannot get rid of this message! It is connected via a wireless network to the other computers.
I changed permissions for HD to no access for everyone, the Mini hang up, I had to force shutdown, ever since it is stuck on the apple and rotating bars, MacMini with OS X 10.7.2! I booted in asfe mode still stuck, repair permissions using the backup hd "10.7.2 after pressing shift key" did no fix!
I installed the application flip4mac to try it out but came to the conclusion that I do not want it. I want to move the folder/app from the finder/applications window to the trash but keep getting this report: "The operation cant be completed because you dont have permission to access some of the items" Can anyone please tell me how to get it trashed?
I get a -5000 access denied error every time I try to install Canoscan driver software. I tried repairing permissions, rebooted etc. It still happens. I cannot scan.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up my Time Capsule. So I have two computers at home, a router and a Time Capsule. I mainly use the Time Capsule to back up my computers and transfer stuff between them. I also have roomies which I don't wanna give access to the Time Capsule without my permission, I'd just like to allow them to connect to get some files every now and then and that's it. That's been my problem, my roomies are having trouble with the internet connection because of my Time Capsule.
I've just recently came across the software 1Password and I was thinking of purchasing a copy. However, before I do I was wondering if someone that uses the software could answer this questions:How am I able to access my passwords when I am using a public computer - i.e. machines at the library? Can I log into a website to find out my passwords?I noticed there is a 1Password app for the iPhone. Is there a free version of this if you buy the version for Mac? Do I need to buy this in order to have my passwords on-the-go?piece of software.
One forum is enough but it seems that I have allowed another forum to distract me from my duties. Is there a way I can block access to a site on my computer?
I have been reading about the adobe malware virus, and my computer actually found one and took care of it. But I was wondering if there is a way that I could scan for it myself.
I have two imac computers networked both running Leopard OS. Mac1 connects to the 2wire ADSL router via Ethernet. Mac2 connects via wireless. Wireless signal is strong. Both computers can connect to the Internet. Both computers can share files with each other. Firewalls set to allow all incoming connection.
Cannot ping from either computer to the other. Error message: Permission Denied. Using the terminal for pinging has the same results. Have not found a solution search the forums. Would like to solve this problem before attempting to add a windows xp laptop to the network.
How can I see the actual files of my photographs and images in Finder? iPhoto just creates an "iPhoto Library" it it gives me no access to the files themselves. If I'm uploading photos to a forum or Facebook I need to access the files. Any idea how I can do this?
For some reason, whenever I try to open a file in preview (pdf, jpg, whatever), it says I don't have permission to view it. However, I am the owner of all these files (and I can open the files fine in other applications). Here is the screenshot of the error message:
I´am having a problem with appstore. When I try to download an app I get this message: "PKInstallSandbox-tmp couldn’t be removed because you don’t have permission to access it." I have no idea what to do now. I can see that I have bought the app but it isn´t beeing installed on my computer. I have installed uppdates on my mac and that worked fine. I have alsow restarted the computer several times.
Lion 10.7.4: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access" when compressing folder On Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4: I am trying to compress a large folder to move to an external RAID. When I try to compress on the same drive location I get "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access...". It seems certain files in the directory permissions are not set properly. I have tried changing the folder and all contain files permission through "Get Info" and it appears to complete without errors.
Before I realized that I should not rename or delete anything in my Iphoto folder, I had already renamed and deleted a bunch of stuff out of it. Now I can't access any of the pics in Iphoto. Is there any way to go back and undo everything? How can I get those photos back into Iphoto?
I am running into "chmodperation not permitted" when I try to change the permissions on my time machine backup manually.
Here is the complete info. I brought a new MacMini server and was trying to copy my music folder from time machine backup(of my MBP) into the Server. From the Server I logged in as root and tried to change the file permissions of the music folder with this command sh-3.2# chmod -R o+rw Music It throws the above error.
I don't have my MBP with me to do anykind of stuff. I don't want to install SL on my macmini and restore from time machine bckup. Is there any other way.
When I create a new file, for example a text file that contains several commands, the new file is automatically only given read and write permissions. I would like the execute permission to also be automatically assigned. How I can change this.
I don't think its mac mini-specific but that happens to be the machine I'm using: Some files downloaded from the internet won't install, even after I click to allow permission on the warning screen.
In preparation for leaving MobileMe, I was clearing out my iDisk. Im noticing there are some old sync files in the Library/Application Support/ that cant be deleted (Contacts, Bookmarks, etc.).
I get the error: "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
I believe these might be old sync files from back in the .Mac days. Not a catastrophe by any stretch, but I'd like to be able to clear everything out before being completely disconnected from MobileMe if possible.
Is there a way to take my iTunes account off a computer, that I dont have access to, so that I can put it on my new macbook pro? I have already had my iTUnes on 5 different computers.
I am trying to save an excel file from Mac Prro to an external Hard Drive (admittidly a reasonably old hard drive), but recevie the message 'You do not have permission to save files to Removable Drive : Folder Name: Document. How to resolve this?
