The title says it all. Pages 09 is intermittently hanging (spinning beachball) when I try to save or export a document. It doesn't happen EVERY time, so I can't reproduce it, but it's happened several times in the past few days. I'm running Snow Leopard on an original Intel iMac. Everything is updated to the latest versions. What might be causing this or how to stop it?

Guys I'm having one slight problem. I have iWork 09, and when I try to export PDF the pdf looks really bad on 100% zoom. 125% is quite OK, though still not perfect. When I preview the document in PDF,it looks perfect. However when I export it, characters aren't inline and look weird. Who knows why this might be? I have an imac 2.66 ghz bought in October if that's of any use.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've purchased a series of Tutorial DVDs from digitaltutors.com and now wanted to be able to see the movie tutorial files in my Archos player on my way to work. To do that I must encode the files on a different codec.
The thing is the quicktime .mov files have some kind of protection that won't let me export or save the files.
Is there any software that can unlock the .mov files? Or a workaround on this matter.
I'm a complete noob when it comes to Pages (iWork'05), and I'm editing my first newsletter which is supposed to go out to 300 people by e-mail. However, when I export it to pdf, the file size is 22.8mb! For 6 pages!
I've chosen the Extreme newsletter template (red one), and I have 6 pages in total. The only reason I can think of why it's so big is that when i drag and drop photos into the photo-boxes, the image isn't scaled down at all, not even when I export it to pdf. Is that right? It's only about 1 or 2 photos per page, and I have two pages with three small photos and a larger photo at the bottom. Anyone got some insights?
just a short question: Can anybody tell me a program/way to export my PAGES document to a PDF with all the used fonts and graphics embedded? I want that it looks exactely the same on e.g. a Windows computer on which the used fonts aren't installed. Unfortunately, even the Word exporting fuction of Pages doesn't seem very reliable - or do I do something wrong? I sometimes even lose bold/italic format etc. Very strange ... Anyway, I need a way to send somebody this text either as a Word or PDF file which won't make problems and look the same.

I have both pages and word 08 for mac on my computer. All of my professors and the university use office 2007 for windows. My question is, should I save my documents in pages and export them as word docs to be compatible with word 07 for windows, or should i save them as word docs in word 08 for mac?
does anybody know a way to save a Pages document as a Word DOC file with the used fonts embedded so that somebody on another (Windows) computer can see the document exactely the way I do even without having some used fonts? (PDF instead of DOC isn't possible as the text still needs to be editable for this other person.) I already searched the whole net and I am afraid this isn't possible, but just to be sure: If anybody knows a way, it would be nice if you could let me know.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn dreaded Microsoft word I use "Save As", then click "Options" and there is the option to save my file with a password so that my kids can't get in and muck up my business writing.
I can't see "Options" under "Save as" but I'm just trialling iWorks (full iWorks disc arrives next week).
Is there a way to automatically save "pages" files in word.doc format, or do you have to do it manually each time? I sure can't find a setting to do what I want.

When I try to save, I get the dialog box: "The document “Untitled 2” could not be saved as “Untitled 2”. Permission denied" I can't find anything in Pages preferences or in the System preferences where this setting can be changed if it is a setting.

During the export, I have unselected "Hide extension" and it does show in the name dialog box, but listed in Finder, it's hidden. When I attach the doc through Gmail, the extension gets picked up, but some other web uploads it does not. I cannot get it to stop. Sure, I can Cmd+I and unhide the extension in Finder, but I shouldn't have to do that. As far as I can tell, it shouldn't hide. Finder is set not to hide extensions, too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have OS 10.9.4, with Safari 7.0.6. Most of the time I cannot load any pages with Safari, even though my IMac can. The two machines have exactly the same software, and are connected to the same Comcast wireless. The problem briefly goes away. But after loading only a few web pages, the problem returns. The browser begins to load a page, and then hangs. When a page does load, it is much slower than on the desktop.

I have run Virus Barrier X5 and found a about 10 files with Virus 'W97M/Pinky.B' "Quarantened" them and still have the problem.
The problem started -- I think -- when I was doing heavy editing between Numbers and Word. But I don't think it is related (though who knows at this point). Without these programs I'm rendered pretty useless.
I have a playlist in iTunes and I wanna export the list so I can show people what my play list is, if I export it as plain text or xml it just shows code, is their anyway to save the playlist in a readable format?

So i've recently gotten in the uploading to YouTube craze with my Flip Mino HD but i'm not too happy at the way i've been doing this and am hoping there is an easier way.
As of late i've been importing what i film into iMovie. In iMovie i'll edit the video to my liking. In iMovie i'll "export" to the media browser so it'll show up in GarageBand. Then i'll open GarageBand and edit my film further, dealing with sound; adding music. After that i'll export it as a .MOV to my desktop. Then i'll open iMovie again and import that .MOV file and from there in iMovie will have it upload to YouTube in its original HD format.
Is it possible to save documents from my mac to iCloud?And what documents can I save, only pages, numbers or is it possible to save Word documents too ?

I´m running Lion, we´re getting better acquainted. However, with Safari I´m having problems when I try to save a web page as a PDF using the Print-Save PDF options. It tells me the file cannot be saved. I try duplicating, exporting, etc, and the only solution I´ve found is to email the document, which, when attatched to the email arrives as a PDF with no problem whatsoever. This is silly (close to dancing infront of my MacBook Pro with a black chicken spitting rum in all directions).

How do I save a Pages document in a fold on my computer with NO "save as" option. Also Duplicate doesn't work the way your Apple manual says. It duplicates but keeps the same name only puts copy behind it with no way of changing the name it seems. How would i do that too?

On my iMac and MacBookPro I cannot save .pages documents to iCloud iWork. They appear on the iWork screen, but I cannot retrieve them.
However, from my iPad it is no problem!. After editing in iPad and save the documents to iCloud back it is possible to download these on my iMac or MacBookPro without problem.

When I scan a document I have problems locating the file on the computer. Once I located the file I attempted to save in pages 09 but it didn't work. And I can't seem to even copy a scanned document to paste into pages. As an example I would like to scan all of my loose recipes and assemble in pages. But can't figure out how to do this.

I created it at the largest size I think I'll be using it at (quite large, a few feet across) and now I want to use it in several other, smaller instances. I grouped it all together, but when I resize the box, the type stays the same size and so everything gets out of place. Is there a way in Pages to save an object such as I've created here, and be able to resize it in correct proportions etc, so that I can use it in various sizes etc?
