when i click on a pdf in firefox, it opens it in preview, but i also find the file in my downloads. i like how the pdf opens in a separate preview window, but it's a hassle to have to keep deleting the file from downloads after i view it.

When I attempt to open a pdf file in Firefox I get a dialog box asking me to "Open with" or "Save to Disk"? The problem is the "Open with" lists only an old app that I no longer have, and doesn't give me a choice to select which app to use. If I go ahead and click OK it opens in Preview which is fine, but why does the dialog box only show an old app that is no longer available? How this this info get filled in, and how can I fix this?

I've tried downloading and deleting it a couple of times, but the same things happens. The computer is 15" MBP, 2 GB from early 2009.

I am really annoyed by Preview app. Anytime I save a photo in my Download folder, it automatically opens it with Preview, whether I want it or not. When I quit Preview, it still opens the next time I download a photo. I can't find anywhere in Preview options such option to disconnect automatic opening of photos. How do I turn it off please?

View 2 Replies View RelatedPreview is not opening anything. Merely double click an image, or clicking Preview to open it makes my computer lag severely for up to 2 minutes. Is there any way I can uninstall and re-download it, or fix this problem? Not sure if this is related, but opening my Applications folder has the same effect, but not for nearly as long or severe, maybe just about 20 seconds. It seems opening ANY folder with "Preview" in it results in freezing up. It's starting to get really annoying, but I've downloaded a replacement image viewer until the problem is fixed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to print a picture in a PDF. When I scale it in Preview or Firefox, it looks correct. When I hit print it's either bigger or smaller than the picture on screen. When I try to print from Preview, it resizes it, instead of just leaving it the original size and dumping it on the page somewhere. Basically, I have a picture that my niece drew for me. I am going to make it the image that goes on the front of a Shuttle PC I'm building for my mom to replace her Mini. (long story, but another Mini for me!) Does anybody have a hint on how I can get it to print without resizing or scaling to fit the page? Another part of the problem that is probably related... In Preview, it says the picture is less than 5x3, but it's 7x5.5. If I can get Preview to understand how big it really is, maybe it will print right.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently the preview program has stopped working. I cannot open PDF files or image files, i.e. jpeg. The only thing I can think of that I've done recently is installing a program called "MailRaider." I just uninstalled it using a program called "Appdelete."
I tried this suggestion from the apple discussion forum that did not work:
Go to the finder, find one of the PDFs you can not open. then click on that PDF one time. go to the file menu, chose get info from the file menu. the inspector window that pops up will include a section on open with. expand that section and click on the open with menu and chose preview. then click the "Change All.." button.
all PDF should now open with preview. you can repeat this process with jpegs, gifs, tifs, pngs, extra as needed.
What else can I try? Do I need to reinstall the preview application? If so, how do I do that?
i was wondering if you can open 2 different previews to view the same pdf. i have alot of pdf books and i want to be able to have the question and the section from the book open instead of scrolling all day back and forth. i have tried using safari to open the 2nd window but using safari temps me too much to just search the web instead of do my homework.

I've checked the info on the .jpgs, there's no restriction on the permissions that should keep them from opening, and Preview is selected as the app to open them. I've tried trashing the .plist, repairing permissions, and restarting. No dice. I'm running 10.5.6, and haven't installed anything recently.

In Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?

But any time I try to open a video on sites such as gizmodo, engadget, youtube, or full episodes from like [URL]. whichever browser I attempt to open it with just completely crashes. This has been getting worse and worse and now it literally happens 100% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both browsers multiple times to no avail. I am REALLY dreading reinstalling my entire OS. Is there a way I can completely eliminate flash from my computer? Then I can manually download it from Adobe directly and see if that works.
I have been having problems with my Safari and firefox. They both say they are up to date. When I use fire fox to look at Hotmail.com, it takes a while to load and when I try to open mail in new tabs, it opens a tab saying "javascript;;".
When I use safari to look at hotmail, it does an infinite loop and stays blank..the URL thingy just goes in loops. I mostly use fire fox, and some times when I go to type, I will get a 10 second delay before my text appears..

Before buying a song in Amazon MP3, to preview, I click the little play button - it used to play in the browser... now it plays it in iTunes. Anyone know what the issue might be? I'm forced then to remove the link it adds to my iTunes library after every preview.
