MacBook Pro :: Keeps Freezing When Use Firefox Or Watch Movie Using VLC Player
Jun 22, 2009i have a new macbook pro only a week old and it keeps freezing when i use firefox or watch a movie using VLC player. is there any reason why it keeps freezing.

MacBook Pro :: Safari 4 And Firefox Crash While Opening Video File?
Jun 11, 2009It started about a week ago. I dunno if it's a problem with Flash or what. But any time I try to open a video on sites such as gizmodo, engadget, youtube, or full episodes from like [URL]. whichever browser I attempt to open it with just completely crashes. This has been getting worse and worse and now it literally happens 100% of the time.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both browsers multiple times to no avail. I am REALLY dreading reinstalling my entire OS. Is there a way I can completely eliminate flash from my computer? Then I can manually download it from Adobe directly and see if that works.

Jan 31, 2010I tried firefox 3.6 recently straight from the .dmg, didn't drag it to the applications folder. It didn't work with a tab add on so I stopped using it.
Ever since firefox has been using tons of system resources at random, both RAM and the processor.
I think I also upgrade flash around then too, to 10.1, could that have anything to do with it?

Jan 21, 2010I run a MBP early 2008 2.5 Penryn. I have 6GB OWC RAM and a 500GB Hitachi HDD. I run SL 10.6.2. From time to time, Safari freezes my computer for a time between a few seconds up to about 15 seconds, when I open a new tab with "CMD+T" or a new window with "CMD+N". As the whole computer freezes during this time, it is pretty annoying.

May 22, 2010I'm having serious issues with Safari 4. It's extremely glitchy and laggy, freezing for seconds when I open new tabs, or even when I scroll down. Many times I'm forced to force quit because it remains frozen. I have a Black Macbook with Leopard on it. The computer still performs excellently, so perfomance isn't an issue. When Safari freezes and I have to quit, I'm typically on flash heavy sites (which I'm sure adds fuel to the fire). But Safari almost always lags for me.

Jun 19, 2014Last night I was checking my emails on my iMac. It said that I got a junk email frim gmail. I clicked on it so I can delete, and it showed the email like a preview. My computer froze and it said "Loading" and the spinning wheel on the mouse was spinning for a little bit. Then when I would close out, it would like be really slow and it would freeze a lot. I shut down my computer. I turned it back on. It was running nice. Then I opened Mail because I need to send an email with an attachment that I have stored on my computer. I have iTunes and I was iMessage a friend and it's starting to freeze and the spinning circle is spinning a lot. I do have Time Machine set up. The last backup was before I previewed that email. Should I restore from backup, or take it to the Apple Store?  I do have Apple Warrany and I have Apple Care on it.

Apr 16, 2007When I attempt to open a pdf file in Firefox I get a dialog box asking me to "Open with" or "Save to Disk"? The problem is the "Open with" lists only an old app that I no longer have, and doesn't give me a choice to select which app to use. If I go ahead and click OK it opens in Preview which is fine, but why does the dialog box only show an old app that is no longer available? How this this info get filled in, and how can I fix this?

Mar 31, 2010Out of nowhere Firefox suddenly won't open. When I click the on the icon in the dock, it hops a few seconds, then stops. Nothing else happens. I've tried downloading and deleting it a couple of times, but the same things happens. The computer is 15" MBP, 2 GB from early 2009.

Apr 7, 2009I'm running a Macbook with 4 gb of RAM.
My FireFox is constantly "hiccupping" with video playback - for instance, YouTube videos. The video freezes up every 10 seconds or so for about 2-3 seconds as the audio continues, then the video unfreezes. Even as I type this, things I'm entering in this box aren't showing up for a second or two.
Additionally, I have certain Flash videos that won't play. I have the newest Flash player and Adobe Flash's website test says my Flash Player is working.
I don't have any of these problems in Safari, but I like FireFox a lot more (Add-ins, NORMALLY a faster browser, better GUI, etc.).
I've tried reinstalling Flash and disabling Adblock (I hear it's the cause for stuff a lot of times) but nothing has worked.

Jul 3, 2010when i click on a pdf in firefox, it opens it in preview, but i also find the file in my downloads. i like how the pdf opens in a separate preview window, but it's a hassle to have to keep deleting the file from downloads after i view it.

Aug 17, 2009I have been having problems with my Safari and firefox. They both say they are up to date. When I use fire fox to look at Hotmail.com, it takes a while to load and when I try to open mail in new tabs, it opens a tab saying "javascript;;".
When I use safari to look at hotmail, it does an infinite loop and stays blank..the URL thingy just goes in loops. I mostly use fire fox, and some times when I go to type, I will get a 10 second delay before my text appears..

Apr 23, 2012I don't like Firefox 11 one bit and am yearning for 3.6. I read online to drag firefox 11 to trash and that, of course did nothing to actually uninstall. I then dowloaded 3.6 and 'installed' that, restarted but still firefox 11 lives on in my computer.

May 21, 2012Why does my Mac book pro keep freezing at the login screen making it impossible for me to log into my laptop?? A multi color spinning disc keeps appearing even before I am able to type in my entire password. This keeps on happening even after a hard restart.

Jun 21, 2012On my second one in three days now, first one froze all day on my first day of having it with only one web page open, took it back and they were great giving me a brand new one and £10 as a sorry. But not a day in this one has done the same! Don't see whats happening as I moved nothing on, never had this issue with any windows computer before.

Oct 27, 2010My macbook is suddenly VERY slow. It can take 10 minutes to open finder or anything else for that matter. I have over 300 GB of space on my internal hard drive so it's be a space issues. The problem started during an import of music from my external hard drive into iTunes. I ended up having to force shut down because it wouldn't respond to anything else. Why is my computer so slow now!?!

Jun 21, 2010My MBP has been freezing over the past few weeks. When the computer freezes, the mouse gets hypersensitive, then it will be unresponsive to everything. The screen then goes black. One of three things then happen. One, I manually shut the computer down by holding the power button. Two, same as one except I get a Kernel Panic text file on my desktop when it loads back up (this only has happened once), or three, the computer restarts itself. It once from while I was playing Call of Duty 4, and once right after I had quit it. However, I had SMC fan set high whenever I play it, my computer is on a cooling stand and there's an desktop fan right next to it blowing over and under it. Could overheating still be a problem?
My MBP is late 2008 refurb, 2.53ghz, 9600 w/ 512 vram, 5400 rmp hard drive, 4gb Apple ram. Freezing has happened under both 9600 and 9400 cards.
The 9600 and hard drive have both been replaced by Apple in the past few months due to other freezing issues (the 9600 was defective, but when it froze I would get screen artifacts and the mouse would still move neither of those things happen now).
MacBook :: Keeps Freezing And Crashing?
Feb 14, 2012Sometimes when I am surfing the internet each website gets slower and slower to load, and eventually the little loading rainbow icon just keeps going round and round and it has frozen and crashed. What concerns me also is the fact that when this happens it won't even let me 'force quit Safari'. Although I can still bring other applications up (other than the internet), it won't let me shut down or restart either. The only way to get the internet working again is to press the power button which I know I shouldn't do, but what choice do I have when it won't let me force quit, restart or shut down?Â
I am up to date with all the software updates. Because I was having this crashing problem I downloaded both iBoostUp (off app store) and MacKeeper off the internet to scan for hidden viruses etc, but it still hasn't eradiated the problem.

MacBook Pro :: All Browsers Freezing Up?
Mar 10, 2012All of my browsers keep freezing up after 5 minutes or so of use. The time amount is very random really. This is true for firefox, chrome, camino, and I think safari. After I quit I usually have to force quit and trying to reopen brings the "already open" error.I know to delete .parentlock to restart but they just freeze again. Not sure if it's my recent OS update or something else. All broswers are up to date.
